this is amazing for a jam game. the visuals are super polished and the gameplay is complex but works. i agree with the issues everyone else has pointed out but i think most isn't expected for a jam game. good job!

Submitted

the game is really cool though an in game tutorial or something would have saved me from just randomly maqshing buttons, pretty cool though.

Developer(+1)

hey, there is a tutorial but it's very brief. I agree it could be improved but I didn't have a lot of time. Thanks for giving it a go

Submitted(+1)

really interesting, easy to learn, simple and fun! Just wish I have more time per level as switching customers take like 3-4 seconds :(

Developer

Yeah, apologies about that - it needs changing

Submitted

This is really neat! The graphics are really nice and the world and UI fit nicely together in a comfy way.

I wish there was more time at the start, I had to figure out how stuff worked and lost a lot of time.

I also really wish the parameters stayed at what you set them until you sold the dish, and if they were in the same order as the request on the left it would make it so much easier

Very cool game!

Developer

Hey sorry Im not sure what you mean? They are in the same order (salt, sweet, aroma, spice). And, the parameters should stay the same unless you reject it or sell the dish

Developer

Ohhh do you mean the levers?

Submitted (1 edit)

Yeah I mean the levers! :) Is there anything else I can do besides sell it before rejecting a dish? Did I miss a way to tweak a dish?

Developer(+1)

Nah you're right, you cant, the idea is the AI is learning, so it will not accurately reflect your lever's positions. It will try to lower or raise a value for you but it isnt precise. If I had made less combinations, it would've been more fun I think. Teaching them to learn dishes means they will recommend dishes which are worth more, straight away. But with 256 possible dishes, its basically pointless.

Live and learn, I'm glad you gave it a shot

Hi, very nice and polished game.  A bit difficult to understand at the beginning how to make things work, but definitively interesting :-)

Submitted(+1)

spent some time finally figured out the game mechanic. seems you can use the bar to adjust the value in a not precise way, and make it as much match the target as it can and deliver. I like this idea in general, but with some complaints:

1. the order in target and the bars behind you does not have the same order.. make it hard to adjust it.

2. the bars behind you will reset every time you set... then it does not worth it...

I would even wish there is a way to lock one or two flavors so make it easier, it is super hard now...

But over all like the idea and the art!

Developer

Locking one or two is a good idea. I should've done that. I agree the bars at the back should be in the right order. They aren't massively important to gameplay but I get its confusing

Thank you

The graphics and sound are great. Didn't know what was going on at first, just kept clicking around to figure things out. Then I played the tutorial and realized there was a whole additional layer of gameplay I was missing with the input parameters. Got more fun after that haha. I do wish that the parameters didn't reset if you reject something. The level of polish is impressive though for a weekend, I'll go check out Hive

Stunning visuals! After a while it gets a bit repetitive, but the sound effects and visuals give it a satisfying feel.

Submitted

I couldn't learn how to play, so I just kept feeding them the first dish that comes up and it worked better than trying to figure out an optimal tactic :D

Awesome graphics, nice sound design. Congrats

Developer

haha fair enough, doing it that way is luck based and you got lucky!

Cheers for the comment

One of my favourite games so far! It looks intimidating, but all you really have to do is just flick some levers! The art is amazing, the idea is very cool, and I just love how the machine looks! All round very very good! Congrats :D

Developer(+1)

Appreciate this

Very cool game concept! And the art is really great! Good job!

Developer

I like it! Very simple concept, but it does it's job! :)

Nice unique game!

I like a difference in the Collaborating with Ai theme, and I think this is one of the more original and cool takes on it, which is very nice when playing a bunch of similar games.

The visuals are nice, although I would recommend changing the texture on the text on the title, since it can be hard to read.

I really think that this game would benefit from having more time to work with, or having a different time system. I really wanted to get far into this game and have an AI that would be very smart on picking the dishes, but I would always be slowly running out of time, even when I thought I was making orders fast.

I think most of the time issues comes down to the amount of time that passes just waiting for another customer to come in, it feels like there is a 8~ second interval between the gameplay. I think this could be solved by having time work like many other fast paced cooking games, in which your time is more of a limit to your score, and you need to complete as many orders as you can within it, and running out of time is merely just the end of a level.

Although, it never felt like the AI was getting any smarter with the dishes, maybe its because I didn't have any repeat dishes or wasn't cooking for long enough. But I got to a score of 300+ which took quite some time I would hope to see improvements on the AI.

Cool game! Would be cool to see more of it.

Developer

Cheers for this really detailed comment. I appreciate it.

Im disappointed to hear about the title, but I understand. Is it the "TASTES" or the "UNIQUE" part that's difficult?

It definitely would benefit from more time, I didn't have a lot of time to test the game in the end and I wasn't sure how much time was appropriate. Making better orders (higher grade) does increase the time given, but its still a difficult fight. If I had more time, I would've probably improved this significantly.

Not a bad idea about the time limit. Not sure why I didn't think of doing it that way. The game is missing a "kick" and I believe that's probably it.

There are 256 dish combinations, so your chances of getting a repeat are very low. I worked to improve this but didn't want to break anything right before the deadline, I'm glad you gave this game a try and Im sorry It didn't quite show you all it had to offer.

Submitted(+1)

I would say its the "UNIQUE" part of the title, I think the 2 different colors are just too different for your eyes to kind of connect them. The pixel art itself on the title is great, but its good to always be thinking about how much it stands out as well as readability when it is the size of a small thumbnail. :)

Developer

Gotcha, thank you

Great game. The art is stunning. It was a bit hard to understand at first but on my second play I understood what I had to do.

Developer

Thanks, I'm glad you gave it a try and understood it more or less.

Great game but you can't go back to the menu after finishing the tutorial

Developer

This is odd, I definitely can go back to the main menu when playing in browser after the tutorial ends. Did the button not work? or was it on the download version?
