A super well-made game, you did such a great job at reating an eerie and unsettling atmosphere! As for what could be improved, perhaps having some form of ammo count somewhere? Though this is only a slight issue I suppose as it does add to the tense nature of the game not knowing how much ammo is left. At least some form of indication as to how much you have at the start of the game would be nice, as from what I can tell the only way to find out is by refilling at the first ammo box, which it's possible to not even have the ammo to get to assuming the person guarding it turns out to be a monster. I did also run into a bug where one of the innocents seemed to just not move when a monster was walking towards me, meaning I had to wait for the monster to walk past it before I could shoot.
Thanks so much for playing! I'm surprised you're the first person to mention the ammo - I did leave that out intentionally to make it more tense (in the initial dialogue it's mentioned that you receive 10 rounds, but maybe it's not super obvious). I was expecting that to be more controversial!
Yeah there are a few bugs, I'll hopefully get those fixed post-jam. Thanks again for the feedback :)
Ah, I must have missed it then! Knowing it's intentional does make me feel a little less bothered by it though, like I said it definitely does help with the overall atmosphere!
My compliments to the chef (nah i'm just joking ), my feedback for this game to the devs is this. The game play of the game was nice and I like the background of the game that blends in with it, but I wish some jump scares of the game were unexpected and some bugs were fix. All in all It was a fine game and good job dev team for making a game under 48 hours.
Thanks for the feedback! We definitely would like to spend a little more time polishing the game and fixing the bugs once the Game Jam is over.
Some clever ideas and very much on theme :-) having it be random who does and doesn't transform between playthroughs was definitely surprising!
I like the feel of the controls - raise gun and fire gun being separate actions was cool, and the animations were nice.
I did run into an issue where I failed one run because my bullet went through a monster and killed an innocent, which was a bit frustrating, but otherwise didn't have any problems.
It would be nice if the opening dialogue was either faster or skippable because it put me off trying again after my third restart.
Overall a very solid entry!
Thanks so much for playing! Yes there is a bit of a hitbox issue if the NPCs are close together, and we definitely needed to make the dialogue skippable - unfortunately lack of time prevented us from doing so. Hopefully we will fix these things after the Jam has ended!
I wish it was a little bit Christmas related for the jam but I do like the gameplay and eerie theme. There is also mystery and the art style is nice. I do want a little more scenery assets to help fill in the blank areas and variation of lighting might add to depth in the rooms but I get that there may not have been time for it because it was only 48 hours. It was still fun to play. Good job.
Please check out my game for the jam if you have time.
Thanks for the feedback! We definitely wanted to add more scenery but as you mention, we ran out of time :) We're considering polishing and expanding the game after the Jam has ended!
This is an interesting and great looking game! It's a bit too spooky for my taste, but it had great lighting and kept me on guard all the way. Would love if it was longer :D
Thanks for the feedback! We are considering polishing and adding some more content when the Jam is officially over :)
Loved the lighting and atmosphere that was really well done! The surprise who is a monster and who is not is great and keeps you on your toes.
Thanks for the feedback, glad you liked it!
Short game, I liked it. I love what you did with the lighting.
4.5/5 yogstars
Make sure to check out my team's game. :)
Thanks a lot for playing - I played your game on stream, it was amazing!
Thank you!
Very good, the atmosphere is great! Only problem as others have said is the dialogue. I shot an innocent to see if I could, then had to wait through the dialogue again, and then again when I died. Not a big problem though, the game is very fun, good job!
Thanks for playing! Yeah definitely needed to make that skippable :)
That's some top notch atmosphere right there. That rustled my jimmies, but in a good way :D
Haha thanks a lot for playing!
Woah, really loved the game, and the lighting effects were great too! Only problem I had was the random chance can be annoying sometimes, if absolutely everyone turns into a monster - but apart from that, really enjoyed it!
Thank you for playing! Yeah the randomness was supposed to be part of the "surprise" theme, but perhaps I should have put a limit on the maximum number of monsters... will keep it in mind for the future!
Very atmospheric and I really loved the gameplay. Was a little annoying to have to sit through the first conversation again every time I died. Is is randomised who turns into a monster? Because on my first playthrough the vent guy did and then the second time he didn't. A very effective horror game!
Thanks so much, I appreciate the feedback :) Yeah I knew the unskippable dialogue would come back to bite me but I ran out of time haha. The monsters are randomised yes, that was the original concept to fit the "surprise" theme. Hopefully it will keep people guessing!
nice atmosphere and movement feel, only thing other than skippable dialogue I think that alarm noise needs to be toned down, it was driving me a little mad at the start. was a nice play, thank you :) loved that eery sound effect at the end by the green tanks.
Thanks very much for the feedback!
Super cool game for people with trust issues. I would totally recommend it :)
Good job on the spooky atmosphere!
Haha I think this is my favourite comment so far, thanks for playing!
Really good game! I like how you don't know who is who. Also great atmosphere, moody. I just don't like that you can't skip the intro dialog. With that out of the way, the game is really fun to play.
Thank you for playing! Yeah skippable dialogue was one of the things I intended but unfortunately ran out of time with.
awesome game, the atmosphere is amazing. I legitimately got scared by my own shadow more than once. The lighting is so good. Only little things would be having more feedback on monster hits... and that it was too short! I wanna play more!
This is great, thank you! I'm glad people are enjoying the atmosphere. Totally agree with your comments regarding the monster hits, I didn't have enough time to really tweak that. Once I've had a bit of a break I may consider going back to it and turning it into a full game :)
It's like an amazing fusion of limbo and role reversed carrion~!
Criminally underrated. Loved the atmosphere and visuals if there were some sounds for the monsters and stuff that could have easliy made it better.
Thank you so much, really appreciate it! There are some monster sound effects but I definitely would have liked to improve on that with a little more time :)
atmospheric and spooky! great job!
Thanks very much!
Solid game! I liked the concept, and it could be expanded on easily!
Glad you liked it! I would love the expand it into a full game in future
Its a nice game, but I can't skip the dialogue
Thank you for the feedback! Skippable dialogue is definitley something I wanted to add but unfortunately ran out of time
