Hey Thanks for the comment. Sorry for the late reply. I've been pressed for time lately and haven't checked for a while and barely into gamedev anymore. Yeah, as you could've guessed, I made it in quite a hurry .... was deciding whether to participate or not and then became 2 days too late to actually start something with the idea other than a text thing lol... barely scraped through the deadline too .... maybe I'll add on it later....thanks again for the detailed comment :-)

Sweet cutscene at the beginning with the special object correlation. Being able to point at any direction & Random spawns & were good too (couldn't get the giant walking shark as we move past it fast, not sure if it cannot be killed anyway lol). Lasted for some time reserving ammo too, to find an end. Guessing you had an end cutscene planned, but no time ...as usual for most of us lol ...nice work on such short time !!!!!
omg seems like I'm hacking kids to death.... kids holding icecreams and the slightly eerie bgm is complimenting the horror loool.... took a while to figure out the color mix and scoring system (some rare mix gave a 100 points i think), got to 1170 but got repetitive due to random drops. Since you had that nice funny intro, could've made an outro too...for when you reach a set number of points or something. Overall nice implementation of the special object. A good colorful kid-slashing experience!!!!
Fun game. Nice concept. Got 2 paintings exactly recreated plus 1 almost, with a score of 200 something. tried multiple times. Then I did & sold like 10 paintings with low accuracy, and I got $480 :-) .... mass-market psychology .... sell "ok" product to 100 people instead of awesome product to 10 people... haha
did that too :-( but in the window, only the title shows up. No para, interactable line nothing.... just the title and the "made in Ink" line at the top left and the "save"," load", "theme" buttons at the top right. Exported directedly from Ink so maybe there's something I've to figure out. Thanks again.
Thanks for checking it out bushn, it was just my first attempt at Ink and an interactive fiction. Just testing if I could make a submission for a Jam in a day learning Ink. I suck at time management.. lol. Checked out your game, cryptic as hell and that was just great. Although, I kept getting "bad but not worst" ending repeatedly. Guessing because my pet ferret & cat kept sitting on my keyboard ..lol
Oh Man! the "run on browser" part, I'll try again and see. Not sure what I did wrong. I tried like more than 5 times during the Jam, didn't work for some reason. I uploaded the folder with the correct file and had selected play in browser while submission and all, but for some reason it wouldn't play, so then just got fed up and put it as downloadable file..... thanks for checking it out again :-)
Hi, Thank you for checking it out. It's the first time I'm trying my hand at Ink or an interactive fiction. Yes, I see your point, a more effective way of communicating would be in an active exploration style (tried yours, you seem to have things lined up and well written and presented too, with little snippets requiring interactions to continue rather than read a whole para, Noice !!!!). Had no planning or larger project in mind as such, just wanted to test myself in a jam and see if I can pull something off within the time limit on Ink. I'll try to bring a twist and get it more like explorative and "on-the-job" world building like you said. Thanks again for the thought.
Haha thanks for playing, had a lot of things to put in to make it more hilarious but alas I couldn't get the time .... considering this is my 2nd game jam , 1st one with a 48hr limit - I learned 2 valuable lessons :
1: I am too over confident with my abilities lol ... took too much time planning rather than executing
2: I suck at time management lol
Always have been a strong advocate of gaming as a story telling medium (with witty humour when applicable). And Lupina is the best of this lot at that. Had an "undertale" vibe. Text/subtitles added to the voice over would do better. Thing is, If the voice over at first wasn't heard & the text aren't read (which happens so often due to player-impatience lol), the character visuals alone, isn't enough to be identified as a demon with a halo, which is off-putting if trying to make sense of the theme & story (without listening or reading). But I did pay attention:-) That said, loved the script & VO when it was good. Went well with the theme too. Sound was simple & non-intrusive but could be more engaging maybe. Was happy to be the dumbest demon talking to a blind and deaf little girl lol
Got the "Papers Please!" vibe. Had fun reading through the things I sign, yeah I like reading! Nice touch on the strategy aspect and the witty text. Seems polished enough and nicely packaged, so to say. It doesn't seem rushed or have any noticeable flaws/bugs etc keeping it flowing smoothly. BGM is apt and goes well with the monotonous-work-like gameplay. Gets repetitive soon though. After day 7, I expected some more different "edicts" to sign but I guess stock market investments on "time" was not a bottomless pit for more and more additions to the game ;-) Also, clear explanations on how-to-play through text and visuals on were charming.
Cool theme. Loved the spooky music/sound effects. There was that vibe. Pretty smooth game-play. Short though. A few tries and I was able to finish in like 10 secs repeatedly. Could've had more people/rooms/maps, but yeah, the ghost of submission-time was successfully scaring you not to do more :-) Nice concept though...... could be worked upon into a multiplayer maybe?
Fun concept, fit to the theme. Loved the player shadow (human body with a deer head) lol. It was a bit buggy for me though and wasn't able to aim/shoot properly. As the hunters say ..."I paid "deerly" for it. BGM was apt too, suited the killing spree :-) A total role reverse would be if the hunters were just having lunch or walking around while the deer walks in guns blazing and takes a head trophy ! lol
Nice game. A fan of RTS/TBS etc so i liked it a lot. Graphics seem simple & to the point of what's important (perception). Camera & Music could do better I guess? Also like the text/backstory for the minis. The "tutorial/control screen" was nicely explained. Character animations are quirky, the good way. Was fun to to see them dawdling to the crystal every time. It got a lot harder pretty fast:-) esp. if we didn't strategise. Good planning/strategy creation, nicely implemented in such a short time.
I didn't get the theme that well, but from your comments, I see it was the "hara-kiri" theme. lol. (I should've picked that when I jumped into the fire to proceed to level 2). It was really challenging for me, my directional keys took a beating. :-) Nice retro color theme but the retro music choice could be better ;-)
Smooth FPS gameplay. I didn't know you can click the mouse to activate panning/looking around which was so dumb of me. I was playing without looking around, using wasd only for a few seconds...lol.... Cool concept. As many have said, fun multiplayer it would be. May be an old CS "mini-dust" map :-). Could've done more but yeah I should know - Time! there was just a "brief" history of time for us.
Didn't get the theme incorporation concept but does absolutely everything right in this genre - gameplay, sound/bgm, graphics & challenge. Loved the BG score times 2:-). Took a while to realise I need to ram into the reds since I cant shoot with the shield surrounding me. Got to the laser-line-shooting enemies and I just couldn't get through. The music was relaxing enough to keep me trying so many times, but in vain. Sweet game. Sweet BGM.
Thanks Croatia for playing through & your clear review :-) I second your thoughts on every area of improvement you've mentioned and then some. My first game published, and game jam participation, should be enough to say I was wrapping things up in a hurry. I wanted to check my time-management skills, and truth be told, It could've been worse... lol. Thought of more tweaks, content and also randomising obstacles to avoid repetition but I was losing to the fourth dimension - time! :-)
Thanks for checking it out Ewokman! Hope you figured out and were able to play through. Dionwave also couldn't figure out what to do... so copying from my other reply :-) ..."The game ignores user input if the player's face is not happy or a red flash warning. There's a pause button when this happens at the bottom right of the screen that you need to click and choose an action to make the player's face happy and regain focus, thus regain control of your character. "
Oh sad you couldn't play through. The game ignores user input if the player's face is not happy or a red flash warning. There's a pause button when this happens at the bottom right of the screen that you need to click and choose an action to make the player's face happy and regain focus, thus regain control of your character. Thanks for the look though. :-)
