Hi!

I am making assets today and just made this color palette. feel free to use it if you want!

Hey! I know how you feel. The time limit on game jams can feel overwhelming, especially when you are pushing the envelope of what you are capable of. This is basically scope creep.

First, don't give up! your game doesn't have to be the best game ever. we're not competing, we are just trying to get better together!

Second, try to limit the new things to try to 1-2 things for a game jam. if you have time try others.

Third, this is something I started doing, but you can do even at this point to help re-evaluate. Make a list of all the features you want in your game. Then make a list of the subset of those feature which are core to the gameplay loop. Then, make a final third list of the non-essentials in order of which you want to implement the most. then you knock out the essentials and make an MVP, and start adding the non-essentials until you run out of time.

If I make an inventory system and do most of the art for my game ahead of time.

I want to compete solo and art takes me a long time, it is cool if I do these things ahead of time?

Hey! I uploaded a new version since you played last that should work on linux.  (I had forgotten to specify that Godot export .cfg files).

Here is a link to my livestream where I explain how I did the procedural generation in the first few minutes.

Cute game!  I think the mechanic is interesting and could be built upon.  Like idk if it is a bug or was intentional, but if you held the web after hitting an enemy, other enemies would die if they flew into it.  This makes sense like you are creating a sticky web.  On top of that, it would be cool if you could drag them as long as you dont let go of the web, and then stick together multiple piles of enemies.

Im impressed with how much you got done in the jam period!  I will say the combat might need to work as it was pretty hard to catch the enemies because they were faster and ran away from you.

Nice little prototype!  I like how you gradually introduced mechanics.  I do think the movement needs a little work to make it feel better.

Thanks for playing!  Yeah I noticed the issue with the foreground-background separation as well.  I wanted to add a fog shader and drop the saturation a bit, but ran out of time.  I also wanted to do more with the obstacles than what they were, and I think they were a little hard to see compared to the solid black squares I used during prototyping.

Pretty fun!  I loved the death noises and animation.  It was very dramatic and made me lol.

Thats pretty good! Yeah I had wanted a mixture of cave walls and webs with some animated mini spiders for the obstacles, but didn't have the time.  And the blocks are supposed to be spider web :( haha.  There was also supposed to be a giant spider chasing you if you, but I never got that far haha.

Thanks for playing!  Believe it or not, I made all the art in about an hour last night!  and yeah, no time for music or sounds, though I had them planned.  I made the entire game in one day because I wasted so much time trying to figure out proc gen, only to scrap it.

Thanks!  Yeah, I feel like trade-offs are what make games interesting.  There was also supposed to be a giant spider chasing you if you went to o slow, but never got there.

Thanks for playing!  It actually does get harder the deeper you go, but I didnt do any playtesting when I made the difficulty curve.  Also made all of the images for the game in an hour! haha.  I had wanted to make the obstacles a mixture of cave and web blocks, and have them autotiled so they're could be angled webs and what not.

Edit:  Just realized you only have a windows version for your entry :(.  Im on mac.  If you get it on HTML or Mac lmk and Ill play.

Thanks for playing! Yeah I didnt really have time to play test.  I think I want to keep the movement sharp but make the rooms a bit easier at first.  Your game was great by the way!  You could win the whole thing!

Thanks for playing!  Yeah there was supposed to be a giant spider chasing you that was supposed to motivate you keep going.

Very fun!

I actually lolled.

Great game! My best is 2128, and I played for 20 minutes haha.

The game seems to be working for me!  The scrolling background is gone though.  I would have to see your project files to tell you whats wrong.  Is it working in the editor?

I submitted super late because I spent most of the jam trying to get procedural generation to work, and ended up scrapping it.  So I made this entire game yesterday, and finished at 4am this morning.

Please play it lol.  I will happily play anyone who posts theirs here!

lol same.

Hey!  I just got the html version working and fixed the itch page.  (sorry I did that at 4am last night)

Here is my game:

been playing for a while, It would be nice to be able to discard one die each turn.  It sucks when you get one of your only glass heal dice right at the start and you just have to keep it there taking up space.

Yeah, dont get too many dice. focus on upgrading a small amount.  I only had 7 die that were all gold, so that was all I rolled.

wow this game is soooo great.  Im totally addicted.  Finally beat the first boss and then died the next round

SO FUN!  Im supposed to be studying, but I played this for 30 minutes haha.  I only wish you could just hold a direction to move rather than having to press it every time because my arm was getting tired!  My highest score was 1805!

Yeah, I think it is the toughest level.  I would have liked to have more levels to build up to it in difficulty that get you more comfortable with the controls, but I ran out of time haha.

Yeah, I made the score screen in the last few minutes so there are a few bugs.  at level 4 the next level should take you to the title but after you complete level 4, your score doesn't reset and it makes you play the first level over and over until you reset the game.  It saves your high score tho, but you can cheese it if you want haha.

Really fantastic game all around!  Fun, great writing/story, technically complex, fits the theme.

Hey, thanks for playing!  Yeah, I switched up the movement several times before landing on this style on literally the night before submissions, so I didn't fine-tune it too much.  I would have wanted it to look towards the last movement direction if not aiming/shooting.

The growth kinda fell out because of the scope creep, but it wasn't very strong anyway haha.  I just wanted to challenge myself to use shaders and light maps.

And good call about the mouse.  I like to give people the option to go fullscreen or not (even though I want them too), but I should cap the mouse.

Truly amazing.  My best is 1:16 on the last level!  I did occasionally grow myself into a tree and couldn't get out, but lets just call that a feature ;).

Really fun game.  Very well done all around!  My best was 56m

Really amazing!  so enjoyable to play.  My highest was only 40,000 though.

Lol I was trying that but couldn't get it, finally got over there! now I can rest lol.

I played this for way longer than I should have.  You have to tell me if you can get over to that second mountain because I have been trying for like 30 minutes and cant get it.  I figured out shooting the vines on the wall.
