This game SCREAMS 90s at me. I don't know if that's what you intended, but the laser tag / blacklight bowling alley vibes were immaculate. The ship launch also felt right out of an old mech anime or something.

I didn't notice at first that the flow was to play down to the wire, then retreat to repair, then come back. It might be good to call that out more on the first run.

Another thing I noticed was that the waves seem to restart every time you return to the mission. It would have been cool to be able to keep your place to make it easier to get to the end. Maybe I'm just not great at twinstick shooters though :P

Couple small bugs: sometimes for the little ships, the explosions all trigger at the center of the map. Also, seems like occasionally the enemies stop spawning after the first wave, but retreating and coming back fixes it on the next run.

The actual gameplay was pretty fun! Just enough room to dodge shots, and a spicy "oh crap" moment when a new wave spawns all around you. Would have loved to be able to do a barrel roll at those moments. :P

You have a super fun idea here! It's almost like an idle game but with a movement component. The artwork was super cute, and even though the sprites weren't animated I appreciated the little procedural bobs and bounces and such. I bet if you did this for the player character too (maybe a little squetch as they move around?), it would go a long way!

Not sure if it's a bug, but I noticed the magic shots usually going in the direction my mouse was pointing, but sometimes they went off in a different direction.

I think you found a really nice difficulty balance here. I barely squeaked by on the Meadow difficulty, and I think I would need a few tries to beat the Hell difficulty. I love the "oh CRAP" moment when a big wave of bats spawns when you're at low HP xD

Had fun, great game!

This game was so fun!! The art was so charming and the mechanics were delightful. I loved that there were multiple ways to solve some of the levels to get all the gems or just take the easy way and move along. Really great interpretation of multi-use and turn up the heat, too!

I encountered a couple of minor bugs (or things that felt to me like bugs), but none of it was game-breaking. Like a few others I noticed the bounce pad slime had some odd behavior with vertical speed, but I figure this could equally be a bug or a feature. I also had a spot where the same level played twice in a row, but I liked that level, so it's all good!

You made so many levels and had a really fun mechanic and art style. 10/10, had a lot of fun! Would definitely buy an expanded/polished version as a phone game or something.

Very charming character sprite! I also thought the dripping bits from the icicles was a nice touch. The wind effect on the broken eggs(?) was very nice to look at as well.

I had fun, but I actually think you could make it a little more difficult! I play a lot of action platformers so maybe that's just the numbness of constantly dying in them (:P) but I bet you could get away with some fun "surprises" with the icicles and wind mechanic especially.

Another thing I found fun was trying to arc the fireballs correctly. That was really well implemented, I felt like I was learning the appropriate timing and trajectory to use to hit distant targets. Maybe a door switch or "turret" enemy could make use of that?

Great job, had fun! <3

(1 edit)

Really fun game, and really well implemented! The two music tracks were great at segmenting the action part and the setup part, and sounded great too. I also really liked the sprite work, especially the UI components - the fertilizer/pesticide bar was really nice looking.

I'm not sure if it was a bug, but I think I got placed in the tutorial the first time I clicked the play button (not the in-game one, the one on the player frame itself)? Or maybe I might have hit a key or something without realizing the game was focused. Either way, small thing, not experience breaking at all.

The other thing is I wish there was a dash button! Just to have something to do while running from place to place :)

Great game, had fun!

You're spot on, the most common comment I got was that the planting UI should be the other way around (seed then plot, not plot then seed). Communicating the scoring system was hard to figure out as well, definitely could do better on that part.

Thank you for playing! <3

Thank you for your kind comments! If you have specific ideas I would love to hear it, more grist for the design mill :)

I do not garden but I have a friend who is very into gardening. I got the idea from talking to her!

Sounds like a consensus might be forming on the planting :P Thanks for playing!

Totally fair points. Thanks for playing!

Thank you so much for playing! I'm glad you liked it <3

My bad, thank you! Should be downloadable now.
