Game Description
At long last, you've found yourself ascending The Tower. Survive as you fight against countless enemies, grow your strength through the tower at your feet, and seek ascension.

How does your game tie into the theme?
We decided to integrate the tower aspects of a relatively popular board game with some elements of games we've enjoyed. Thankfully, the board game has some interesting mechanics that lend themselves to making gameplay decisions, and we've tried to blend those together alongside the same thematic elements of the tower theme.

AHHHHHHHHHH

That was hectic! I got to level 6 before the lag was unplayable and I became dead (i played on browser)

The tradeoff mechanic where you go without a power for a round to get it back stronger, real risk vs reward stuff there, nicely implemented. The character models are really nicely done. The music is great. The jenga block system took me a few tries to understand - it encourages planning ahead in a unique way because you can't pick two adjacent upgrades. Does the height of the tower or the level influence anything or is it just a mark of progress?

I noticed the kill counter doesn't reset between runs, but I guess because of the unimplemented upgrade button on the 'you failed' screen that it's intentional and that you'd get stronger each time

Nice game!

I really loved the music! I enjoyed the variety and the pace in the different sections. I just left the tab open to listen to the main menu music while writing this review :)
You have an iInteresting way to integrate a tower into your skill tree. I think I would have understood things a little more if there was a tutorial section where you clearly explain what clicking on a block does. It was unclear if everything I chose I lose for a turn and then get stronger the next? Also it was unclear when I got it back that it got stronger without reading through a lot of stats on the left. Maybe you could do a level up with stats on the character showing what grew, or highlight the specific stats that increased when you level up?

I got to level 6 and started seeing some lag, though by level 2 some of the enemies were not de-spawning and getting stuck on the map, so that might have contributed to some lag.

The concept of the tower being used as a skill tree of sorts is clever. I did get the weapon upgrade issue that others have mentioned where they disappear for a round, I'm not sure if that's intended as a cost vs reward style upgrade.

I like the slower pace of the weapons compared to other survivor games because you need to put a little more thought into your movements and the hit audio made it very satisfying.

Hello, first of all, congrats for the game! 🚀

I liked the use of the tower concept here, though it took me a while to understand it.

The art style is cute, and I liked the palette you chose. The assets are a bit inconsistent though, the character and monster are very detailed, but the scenery and the trees are pretty much flat.

I played till level 6, and it was fun, I got some lag on my browser, but I think it's fine since you also provided a standalone version of the game.

This is a solid entry, the controls are good, and the mechanics well-implemented. Well done guys 👏

Great game concept, I liked the concept with the jenga tower below you, but its sometimes buggy or just not explained. For example my first upgrade was the sword upgrade. I had expected another one to show up, but the one I started with just disappeared for one round. If the bugs around the weapons are features, they should be explained a little more. But overall, its a fun little game and I enjoyed it.

Cool concept with the jenga blocks! I did find myself spending the whole game running away from an ever growing mob of enemies, so it would be cool to add a special attack that can take out a bunch at once.

Nice concept for a game but very lagging on the windows

A very fun take on the 'vampire survivors' archetype. Had alot of fun playing, and can tell there is lots of potential for this game. I felt like if the environmental objects in the level had some collision, it would add a fun difficulty layer to the game. Well done!

Developer

Thank you. We did actually play with the idea of having objects on the map that had collision but decide that it needed some more polish and play testing before adding it in so decided to scrap it. However if we do flesh out the game more that would definitely be something that we include.

This is a fun game! I love the visuals and the connection to the theme is really interesting^^ well done!

Developer

Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it.

Cool way to integrate the theme into a vampire survivor type of game! The graphics and animations were super polished and the mechanic to take away abilities momentarily to later make them stronger is something I haven't seen in this type of game before and makes the upgrade process a lot more convoluted and interesting. Super good job :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you. We have always liked playing with the idea of having to sacrifice something to get something, but I think this is the first time we actually managed to execute it well.

really awesome concept, such a creative way to fit in the theme as well. really enjoyed it, around level 3 i did notice some frame drop issues but overall very solid entry. the art style and animations were also very cute and polished. would definitely play a fleshed out version of this game.

Thank you. So happy that you enjoyed it. Will definitely keep you posted if we decide to flesh it out more.

Really enjoyed the zombie skeletons chasing you down! The tower upgrade system was a great fit for the theme too.

Thank you. Glad that you enjoyed it.

Nice game, a bit laggy even with the windows build on my laptop though.  Great concept and cool music!

Developer

Sorry to hear that. Yeah the game could definitely use some optimization. Glad to hear you still managed to enjoy it though.

Love the 3D graphics and the take on the survivor genre. Didn’t quite get the blocks but liked the game.

Developer(+1)

Thanks. Yeah the blocks were meant to replace the standard upgrade system found in most survivor games. With the added mechanic of sacrificing an upgrade for a round in order to make it stronger at the next level up. Glad to hear you enjoyed it.
