Thank you very much! It originally did have a variable jump, but I wanted to make the game emulate the old, early 1980s platformers that it is inspired by a bit closer (without emulating it too closely, since games like Jet Set Willy did not allow you to control your jump trajectory at all). I will, however, be adding variable jump heights to a planned sequel of the game.
Thank you very much for your positive feedback.
A very fun arcade shooter that harkens back to games such as Asteroids and Star Castle. The controls as slick and responsive, and the game plays like an early 80s arcade classic. The music just adds to that old arcade game charm. It gets exponentially more difficult as time passes, and I can just imagine this one being a coin guzzler if it was in an actual arcade back in the day.
Very nicely done!
I really like the concept behind this game. However, other than your character slowing down due to blood loss, it would be very useful to have some kind of visual indicator of exactly how much blood you still have left, so that you can strategize each level better. The game looks great, though, and I love the palette used. It fits the theme perfectly.
I really enjoyed the main game mechanic of using the lightning to backlight the gameplay area. This is definitely not your average platformer. The collision areas did seem to be a bit large, however, as I ended up dying at points where I was close to a hazard, but not actually touching it.
The game was challenging, but I did manage to finish it in a few minutes.
A nice game with a great concept.
I can't help but highly rate this extremely enjoyable and unique endless runner, with its great game mechanics, endless replayability thanks to procedurally generated levels, and an awesome soundtrack that dynamically changes its...well...dynamics, based on which side of the horizon you are on. Such a well made entry!
PS. I really love the way the rabbit vibes to the music on the score page.
An interesting little game. The game art is a bit jarring at certain points, since they seem to be a mix of resolutions, there is no animation, but the gameplay is pretty smooth, and easy to pick up. I like the interpretation of the theme, and that your actions have consequences. I would have liked to see a bit more types of endings dependent on your score, since being kicked out seemed a bit harsh for single, minor offenses. However, it's a good little entry.
Thank you so much for that! I really appreciate the kind words. I've been wanting to do a game like this for a while, so when this Jam gave me the opportunity, I had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted to do. I'm very glad to know that people find it enjoyable.
As for the too much water problem, I will definitely take a look at getting the temple drained. I did not notice the flooding. Thank you for pointing that out!
A fun arcade action game. Nice graphics, fun music and just the right amount of difficulty ramping to ease you into the gameplay. I loved the fact that your car loses parts of itself the more damage you get. Just one thing: What the heck did your player character do to not only have the sheriff and police roadblocks to contend with, but also mines and fighter jets firing at them? Yikes!
A solid foundation for a good game. Some visual feedback on what weapons are equipped, when you hit an enemy and a few other things would definitely enhance the gameplay. The game has no sound, but overall that does not detract from the gameplay. If this game was to be developed further, I'm sure I would enjoy it immensely.
A nice twin-stick shooter with quite a bit of promise, but, sadly, still needs a lot of work. It is quite unoptimized, which causes severe lag about a minute into the game when the enemies are just too numerous for the engine to handle, and some enemy spawns got nudged straight out of the playing area. Overall the gameplay was pretty good, as was the concept. With some more work this could be a very solid game.
The concept of this game has a lot of promise, but it seems to be bugged. When interacting with most characters, the "Just an old pile of trash" line keeps getting repeated, so it seems that it is basically impossible to do what needs to be done to finish the game.
Graphically it's extremely interesting, surreal, even. It has good music, and the beginnings of good gameplay. I think that I would really enjoy the full experience of this game if it was complete.
As is the norm for bullet hell games, it can be quite difficult, but pretty enjoyable nonetheless once you work out the enemy patterns. The diminishing amount of weapons and disruptors certainly ups the difficulty as you progress, but the game is a solid entry into the jam, and quite fun. Nicely done!
Our two games have a very similar concept, but two very different implementations. Whereas I opted for an extremely old-school platformer, this game is a platformer+ with all the bells and whistles. The character art and animation are just wonderful, and the intro was really funny. Overall, a nicely made game and a solid entry to the jam. It took a very long time to load, though.
