This is fun! Nicely done! I love the fade in/out effect and the puzzles were challenging! I thought the X meant I got it wrong... was so confused until I got that sorted out :)
Thanks! Unfortunately the X does mean you got it wrong. As a few folks have commented, the method for playing the game is counterintuitive, because we designed it to fit the theme. The goal is to remove words that are not part of the solution, leaving you only with the four correct words that form the puzzle solution. We think a future version should be the opposite, where you select the correct words and are only allowed a few misses. We really appreciate the positive reception from everyone, even if the gameplay for this version is a bit counterintuitive!
Interesting and funny concept ! Well done ^^
This is a really cool puzzle game and reminds me a lot of puzzles you would find on a newspaper or in a riddle book. It's light-hearted and easy to get into, but I think some of the word pairings don't end up working super well, compared to other words on the board.
Other than that I really liked it!
A great puzzler that incorporates the theme wonderfully. Great visual effects and good music. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great job!
Fun puzzle game! The premise was pretty entertaining to read! The process of elimination for solving the password was a bit counterintuitive but it was fun nonetheless and the music went pretty hard
Great idea for a game!
I love the looks of the game, the only problem i have is that you can pass every level by just clicking everything at random, and thats probably the fastest way to do it, but if i force myself to play it correctly i have a good time so overall its good
Great visuals and polish! Same as someone mentioned below, it reminded me of Codenames, which works pretty well.
I got the first handful of hints correct which responded with big glitches and an X mark which felt like I had made a mistake. The first round I just went with what I thought it was, got 4 X's and then the text said "locked out of level 1". In other words, getting the puzzle right felt like I got it wrong based on the way the game responded. That flow could use a bit of a re-design to point the player in the right direction.
The UI in my game is text heavy and I circle things that should probably be crossed out, so I understand and agree that gameplay and working systems come first! Your descriptions helped me figure things out and the game ran really nicely--impressive job!
The only other note I have is that the music worked really well for the title screen, but was too energetic for gameplay which is mostly sitting and thinking--a chiller track for the core gameplay loop might be nice.
Overall, great job!
Thanks for the detailed feedback! We designed the logic of the game around the theme. So the goal was to start with a bunch of words and remove words until you're left with only the four correct ones that solve the puzzle. It's pretty clear that this was a bit confusing for folks. We agree that a less confusing version of this game might be to do the opposite, select the four correct words and count wrong words as errors. We very well may develop that version in future because the feedback to the idea has been positive overall. Thanks again!
Great game, I love the aesthetics.
Great color scheme, very Matrix and Apple ii. Such a unique puzzle game
Awesome word puzzle game!
My wife and I play Codenames duet quite a bit, and this reminded me of it. The graphics were thematic with hacking and everything was fairly juicy. I liked the concept of the gameplay, but some of the puzzles felt off to me. The one that stuck out was something like small, skin, plate -> scale. Not sure where that one was going lol. Overall, once I got the way the game worked, I enjoyed it. Definitely a good thinker, I’d just have a second set of eyes to vet the hints.
Also, as a jam specific, I feel 10 was a bit long. For a short setting like this, I would’ve preferred 5 puzzles to solve. I also didn’t see the limitation here in the game.
Overall, really awesome puzzle game!
