I can't help but highly rate this extremely enjoyable and unique endless runner, with its great game mechanics, endless replayability thanks to procedurally generated levels, and an awesome soundtrack that dynamically changes its...well...dynamics, based on which side of the horizon you are on. Such a well made entry!
PS. I really love the way the rabbit vibes to the music on the score page.
Cool endless runner. Liked the switching mechanic a la Ikaruga too bad I encountered a bug that somethimes the rabbit will float on landing and will not register the switching.
Fun game, it fit very nice with the theme! I loved the different powerups in the game, like the one that flipped the direction you were running. It really helped in adding variety to the gameplay.
The music was great! A nice core theme but with many variations. I think it was a big factor in why playing the game felt so good.
A really solid runner with a twist!
Great use of 1-bit art to dictate gameplay mechanics. I’ve enjoyed my fair number of runners like Temple Run and Corridor Z, so this was fun to play. Music was cool, especially how it alternated between the worlds. Player controls were solid as well.
My only critiques are I would’ve liked more obstacles in the form of enemies and I didn’t feel the jam’s limitation much in the game.
Overall though, great game!
Thank you for giving our game a go, and glad you noticed some of the attention to detail like the dynamic BGM! You're also correct about both critiques, but I'll try to provide an excuse for each of them anyway. Due to the timeframe, it was difficult for us to develop the obstacles beyond a form that simply required basic use of the core mechanics. As for the limitation, we mainly designed the game around the theme for another jam before deciding to submit it to this one too, so the theme of riches to rags was basically an afterthought for us. But thanks again for the feedback!
Good news: I've found a fix for one of the biggest bugs in this game! Have you encountered the one where you get game over after flipping even though the next wall was still miles away? Well, that's just been patched! It was actually surpisingly simple to resolve once I looked into it, but unfortunately we won't be able to upload the new build until after a week when the other jam ends, so you're stuck with the bug until then.
The way the game idea plays with the two colors is one of the reasons why I like this jam so much! I'd like to see an edition with an even faster rabbit, although perhaps with a simpler level. Clear and functional concept, good job!
It's a great idea to work from, and as mentioned just a bit of sluggish control. Maybe a wider aspect ratio could give a better sense of what's ahead and let the player plan for it?
And even though it could have been any character, a rabbit felt just right for this :D
I liked the idea! I hope you will have time to improve on rabbit's physics. Other that that there is really nothing to carp here. It's a solid game!
Cool concept! Controls were responsive, music was banging. As you'd mentioned yourself, the physics DID feel a little bit clunky at times. I feel like the core concept was great and there's a lot of exploring you can do here! The graphics were simple, but cute and nice animations; did exactly what they had to do. The gameplay felt a little slow but I read below that this was a bit of a physics issue, hopefully you could get it sorted out in a potential post-jam (otherwise if you choose to focus on other projects instead, completely understandable haha).
Also, you're using Unity and a scoring system so let me just drop this here: https://danqzq.itch.io/leaderboard-creator (I'm not related to this creator in any way)- it's a very simple tool, with unity integration, to set up online leaderboards. In case you're not familiar with it, pretty much THE best thing I ran into for my own game :D
Thanks for your submission and looking forward to future games!
For a game this cute, I didn't expect the music to be such a banger. Surprisingly challenging, too!
