Amazing entry, great job getting this done in only one week! I love the creativity of the backstory, the secret red stars and the well designed levels. Keep it up!

Nice entry, I had a lot of fun with this!

This is the first game I come across in this jam where the limitation was included, not with cats, but with another type of feline. Great choice!

I'm sorry but I couldn't get the game to run. As of now, I haven't worked with the Unity game engine you seem to have used for your game, so I can't be of much assistance when it comes to fixing the issue, but it does seem like you haven't uploaded all the necessary files (from what I understand reading the error message the executable gives).

If the game does work for other people, then it must be an issue on my side.

Nice take on the theme! I love the intro cutscene, it tells the story very quickly but effectively.

There is a lot of potential for post-jam expansion, like new obstacles, power-ups, etc.

Overall a well made infinite runner game! Keep it up :)

I see that's your second year participating, glad to see you stick around!

This is a great entry overall! I had a lot of fun playing it, and I think the concept itself is amazing, as it integrates both the theme and the limitation in simple but effective ways.

A lot of potential here, keep up the good work!

The limitation is included in a pretty creative way here! I love the take on the theme, a fun twist on the usual platformer controls. I also like how certain elements of the environment give hints on the backstory, as well as the intro dialogue. A lot of potential for post-jam expansion here!

I've been waiting to see a platformer game while going though the entries, here it is!

Limitation was well included, though the fact that the cat is untouchable wasn't very clearly conveyed through the gameplay.

Post-jam, this could be expanded with more levels, and maybe some obstacles to add to the challenge, as well as textures for the level to set the atmosphere!

I love the concept and the integration of the limitation here! The game, while very short, is a lot of fun, and the difficulty is well balanced! I loved the quotes you added on the losing screen, added a bit of humor that matched the theme of the game :)

Can't wait to see where this goes post jam, it could definitely be expanded with more levels!

The fact that this was made in 2 days is unbelievable for me! Amazing job!

The concept is extremely creative and greatly executed! I loved the music, it really fit the gameplay. Visuals were very nice as well. I had a lot of fun with this!

I liked how the enemies had multiple targets, as they attacked the generator as well leading to the electricity blackout which was a good touch. The healing system created a certain dynamic in the gameplay of going back and forth healing the damaged soldiers and letting the healthy ones lead the fight, and the multiple spawn points added strategy as the soldiers had to be divided to cover the territory.

The game has so much potential to be expanded post-jam, maybe with more enemy types and more ways to defend. Keep up the amazing work!

What an amazing concept! I love the interpretation of the theme, and it was pretty well executed. Visuals are great and the gameplay is pretty solid. The one thing this game is lacking is a bit of music and maybe a little more sound effects.

Post-jam this game can be very well expanded with more levels. Impressive work!

There are many different ways to integrate the theme into a game. If you're completely lost, maybe try to think of it this way: the ability of being untouchable/inaccessible/protected is to be given to a certain element of the game. Could be the player, an enemy, a treasure, a key,... The goal of the game could be to try and break these boundaries, or maybe to reinforce them. So you're either trying to access the untouchable, or you're the one protecting it. Again, the sky is the limit, let your creativity lead you, these are just basic interpretations of the theme that might get you going. Good luck and let me know if you need more assistance!

Starting on the 1st of August at 5PM GMT, developers will have 1 week to make a game following a surprise theme and the mandatory limitation of including feline animals into your games (get creative with this)!

There will be 2 winners:

- Developers' Choice: Winner from regular jam voting!

- Golden Whiskers: Handpicked entry (by me) that stood out!

Why join?

Apart from the amazing community you'll be a part of as well as the experience you'll gain, if your entry performs well it might get featured on Twitter or, who knows, YouTube!

Discord Server

This year, a Discord Server for the jam is available for you to join! Here's the link: https://discord.gg/kTa9sW6q

It's the Whisker Jam, the game making party where everyone's invited!

It is allowed as long as it isn't excessive to avoid triggering any players. The jam's goal is to be open for all which is why the rules request to avoid any exaggerated violence. If you find it necessary for your game, keep it as light as possible. And if you are unsure whether or not you can limit exposure to such visuals in the context of your entry, the best thing to to is to scrap the idea completely or simply find other less triggering ways to get the idea accross.

Finally got around to playing this, and first of all I have to say great job completing this in a week!

The pixel graphics look very nice and the music in pretty catchy, nice work on both of those!

However, it was a bit tricky to figure out how to play the game at first. Maybe clearer in-game instructions on which keys to press to interact with buildings and when it is possible to do so would help.  For example, I tried picking up a package from the tacos truck by driving above it, until I realized I had to pick it up from the side.

Nevertheless, once these small things clear up, the game is a lot of fun and shows so much potential for expansion! Whether it's a bigger city, more types of shops and buildings, or completely new gameplay elements... I'm sure you already have great ideas in mind.

If you do decide to expand this, I'll try and stay updated on your work through Twitter. If not I can't wait to see more games from you!

Keep up the amazing work :)

Thank you very much!

Exciting news!

Had a blast with this one! And the halloween event is amazing!

This is definitely a good game to play if you have a bit of time to spare! Great job!

I love the mix of 2 different types of gameplay in this game! The platforming was amazing and I was surprised by how much time I actually spent in the free paint xD

I also loved the visuals overall but especially the customization options for the player. Definitely a nice touch to allow players to personalize the character!

Glad you enjoyed it :)

Feedback is always welcome! You can either leave your feedback here or DM me on Twitter!

A new chalenger approaches...

That's impressive :)

Thank you for participating!

The jam does not have a discord server, though I'll probably be hosting more jams in the future. We'll see if there will be a discord server then!

I'll make sure to let participants know if I do make one.

I was able to give this a fair shot on a better device, and had a great time! As other players on the rating page said, the cat was a bit hard to control. But then I got the hang of it and found myself zooming around the city! I can't wait for future updates and what improvements or new features they might bring :) This game has a lot of potential!

That's a nice little platformer!

I like the visuals on this with a kind of 1-bit style, and nice take on the theme!

Keep it up :)

Unfortunately, no matter what I tried I couldn't get the game running for me. Seems like other people were able to play it just fine from what I see on the rating page, so it might just be my device.

It saddens me that I wasn't able to experience the game myself, especially since it does seem like great game with an amazing art style and fun gameplay. Nice take on the theme and thanks for participating! Keep up the great work :)
