That's what I've been doing. Unfortunately, the backup on GitHub is not the latest version.

I'm trying to port one my games from Windows to HTML5. I was able to get things to work properly in the GameMaker debugger and when I try to run it on itch.io following the instructions, the game loads and returns a blank screen with nothing. I did nothing wrong in the game itself but when I inspect the iframe, it shows a whole bunch of 403 errors and assets failing to load.
This is the problem I am getting:
Anonymous caller does not have storage.objects.get access to the Google Cloud Storage object. Permission 'storage.objects.get' denied on resource (or it may not exist).

What is Touhou Kourinden ~ Mythos of Phantasmagoria?
Touhou Kourinden ~ Mythos of Phantasmagoria is a story-driven, beginner-friendly danmaku RPG that follows the life of Rinnosuke Morichika (called Kourin in-game) as he grows from a child to an adult. The game will be broken up into six acts, with the first entire act free for anyone to download, play, and share.
Mythos of Phantasmagoria's gameplay is inspired by the likes of Pokémon, Final Fantasy, and Undertale. The visual aspects are inspired by Sierra's Adventure Game Interpreter engine. Its soundtrack not only consists of original songs but remixed tunes from Touhou Project and Chuhou Joutai are also in the mix. The soundtrack was written in OpenMPT using the OPL2 functionality, featuring a score with FM synths incomparable to other games.
Even though the game in its entirety is complete, we still have another whole year before it releases. The game won't probably launch on Steam until next spring. That said, we're wanting to get this game to Whitethorn Digital, and we're in the process of trying to obtain the Touhou Project rights to publish this game on the Nintendo Switch.
Can you explain the backstory behind its development?
Development of the game began last summer shortly after Chuhou Joutai 3: Three Nights of Scarlet Abscess, which released last autumn, wrapped up development. After spending two and a half years porting the PC-98 Touhou Project games to Windows in the form of the NES Demakes, we were ready to create an original Touhou Project fangame. Queen Marisa is a royal figure mentioned a number of times in the Chuhou Joutai trilogy. In Mythos of Phantasmagoria, you can see how Marisa's legend unfolds. Fun fact: this game was codenamed Chuhou Joutai Origins during development.
We never developed an RPG before, and this was one heck of a challenge. The game was originally going to be made in RPG Maker, but that engine's limitations made it difficult to achieve what I wanted. As with my previous games, Mythos of Phantasmagoria in its entirety was developed in GameMaker. The reason it took so long was because making an RPG from scratch is difficult, and a lot of time and planning was needed to get it right.
How can I improve the game?
Whitethorn Digital, the game's intended publisher, has a philosophy of accessibility and low stress for the titles they publish. Therefore, we ask for your feedback on how we can make Mythos of Phantasmagoria accessible to as many players as possible. Mythos of Phantasmagoria is intended to soothe players intimidated by the danmaku genre, so we're also asking for your feedback on what elements should be changed in order to lessen the stress on the player.
Drillimation Systems today releases the fourth installment of the Touhou Project NES Demakes series, which aims to bring the PC-98 Touhou Project games to PC in the style of an NES game. This series was started back in January 2020 with the demake of The Highly Responsive to Prayers and found modest success. The plot of this game is to find the source of what caused the Hakurei Shrine to be invaded by youkai again. There are two playable characters each with two shot types. Players must shoot their way through hordes of colorful enemies and danmaku, alongside the game's colorful cast of characters that have become fan-favorites.
I'd like to present not one, but two games to be featured. These would be:
Chuhou Joutai: The Middle State of War
A danmaku shooter heavily influenced by 1980s arcade game visuals and carries a sense of humor. Chuhou Joutai is a fun, lighthearted game intended for entry-level shooter game players where you assume the role of military recruits sent out to assassinate the leader of a terrorist organization. You are given additional health to ensure you don't suffer one-hit deaths.
Rating: 4.7/5
Genre: Manic shooter
Console: PC (also available on Steam)

Chuhou Joutai 2: Paraided!
A danmaku shooter and sequel to Chuhou Joutai: The Middle State of War. While it still carries the sense of humor the first game had and its simplified danmaku gameplay, the art direction was greatly improved. Taking on a more oriental approach, the game sees the duo helping a princess retrieve a mythical object stolen by a terrorist organization in a raid.
Rating: 5/5
Genre: Manic shooter
Console: PC (also available on Steam)
Drillimation Systems is developing a new NES-inspired remake of a game that was originally released on the PC-98 in 1997. This remake will incorporate an online mode. However, we are looking for a GameMaker programmer capable of doing this. Some of the duties of this include:
- Setting up multiplayer servers to connect clients
- Integrating gameplay code with server engineering
- Finding solutions to technical problems
- Solving problems without peers as network programmers, as well as working with other team members
Requirements for this include:
- Certificate, Associate's, or Bachelor's degree in computer science or programming. This isn't mandatory but is recommended. A good background in programming and networking is a must.
- Good knowledge of the GameMaker engine, including a good background in GML. This includes having completed at least one project in GameMaker Studio.
- At least two years of experience in the video game industry, including programming.
- Understanding of network protocols such as TCP, UDP, and HTTP.
- Good understanding of mathematics.
- Not mandatory but recommended: good communication skills in English and Japanese.

You can try Chuhou Joutai (Steam verison preferred) and Chuhou Joutai 2: Paraided!, both of which are good danmaku games.
I recommend you try Chuhou Joutai: The Middle State of War (Steam version recommended) and Chuhou Joutai 2: Paraided!, both of which are good danmaku shooter games.
You can try the two Touhou Project NES demakes I've made. They only take 20-30 minutes to complete in one run.
- Touhou 1: The Highly Responsive to Prayers NES Demake: https://drillimation.itch.io/touhou-1-the-highly-responsive-to-prayers
- Touhou 2: The Story of Eastern Wonderland NES Demake: https://drillimation.itch.io/touhou-2-the-story-of-eastern-wonderland
I recommend you try the two Chuhou Joutai games:
- Chuhou Joutai: The Middle State of War (Steam version recommended)
- Chuhou Joutai 2: Paraided!
The game is sold for $4.99, €4.13, £3.59 a pop. On Monday, Drillimation released a blog post on their website looking for editors on the game’s official wiki Drillipedia. Users who have Gamepedia Pro can also get a free Steam key.
A free demo for the game is also available to download here on itch.io.
Features include:
- Retro-style graphics influenced by the golden era of arcade games
- Two playable characters with an amazing two-player mode
- Simplified gameplay for newcomers, as well as easy to learn and intuitive controls
- Hilarious dialogue with a new and improved art style
Needless to say, I made a mockup of what itch.io might have looked like if it launched in 1995...
