Very fun and love the fact that the mechanic was so unique as well, fits the theme perfectly. I know you can speed up the timer by shaking but for the first few levels with the constant rhythm of the bomb I felt like it would be perfect to have a track with the same bpm that could maybe progress as you go through the levels or checkpoints even
Noted. Maybe an even more rhythm based approach would be something to explore with a game like this. Perhaps a "beats" mode? Not a bad idea! Thanks for playing!
Fun little platformer :)
Thank you! Seems I missed yours. I'll try to give it a go before the ratings are in.
That was really fun! The periodic extra jump was predictable and fun to work around, and the levels, while a bit difficult for a jam game, were quite fair (or maybe I'm just too good at these sorts of wacky platformers?). The art and character designs are cute!
While the instability was predictable, there could've been more indication to it than only the green bar in the top-left corner. Maybe a subtle aura around the player character? Perhaps an audio cue? (An audio cue that's subtle, or it would get annoying quickly).
I could not read the first intro cinematic in the time it was on-screen. Pressing a button to advance it might be more convenient.
The songs are really cool! They encapsulate the game's goofy dystopian vibe. Although, the audio is a little bit loud; the music and sound in combination regularly peak above +0.0 dB.
Also, while the level design was, all-in-all, pretty good, there was a leap of faith in the final level.
Fantastic! Great work!
Eyy, you beat it! Thanks for the detailed review. Yeah, these issues were largely something we though about, but had no time to address. :) The bit about the music being too loud I didn't really consider, just eared it on my laptop speakers. :)
Very nice concept.
Really challenging, I don't think I got very far. Great job on the unique unstable mechanic.
The background music is great. Couldn't get past level 3 but I could tell from the screenshots that the game has more to amaze me with. You could do some improvement to the graphic and I loved the start.
Very funny, great work!
The gameplay is fun and the theme is respected, well done! can you please play my game to get feedback!
Sure, I'd be happy to play any devs game who's active in the community. :) Can't realisticly get to all of them, so might as well follow recommendations and requests.
There is potential with this game. A few things that need to change to take it from average to exceptional. You audio is excellent I wouldn’t change a thing except maybe have an options menu at the start for sound and music as not everyone likes chiptune. Graphics for the character and story are awesome the only thing keeping it from being great is the background. Just a little more time into the visuals for the background would have been awesome like the first few levels could be the science building or something. The mechanics are okayish, the reason why this gets an average score in this regard is because there is one other game that is similar but they used an asset pack instead of making their own graphics however this also drops your originality down. Theme is on point, but minus points for no 3D, No mobile, no leaderboards. That would have at least put your game slightly above average. But keep at it dude I’m sure this can be a great game.
Thanks for the detailed review! There were sure things we would have liked to add to game had time allowed. The background being one of them. Qurious how our mechanics score is affected so strongly by there being one similar game. After all, we were quite oblivious to what others might have been up to while developing and tried to just come up with something at least a bit original. Anyway, I'm sure there has to be some kind of metric for differentiating the reviews and I accept your criticism! Maybe next time we will be more prepared for these kinds of expectations!
Do not worry bro, you all good. I wasn’t too harsh on your rating like you said only 1 other dev did more or less the same thing. I understand that time is an issue for most devs in these jams. If you need a pixel artist for your next jam dm me on discord. I also do 3d modelling as well. I will say this your auto jump is better timed than the other game.
Alrighy, I'll keep that in mind! Androgunther is usually my guy, but there might be times he can't make it to a jam! I did like your graphic style. So did he. ;)
Hey thanks man. Its not my best work to be honest. 9 days was not enough time so I just rushed all my artwork cause I am not that good at coding. I will look out for a dm if you need me ;) stay retro bro.
Nice work putting all together, I feel like controls are a little bit off, for example... In my case, left CRT is used to fav the page... So, you page was fav and unfav like a lot... But it was a really fun experience. PD: Cheers to the doctor, so much character and charisma.
I had this experience of fav unfav with one of the games. But not others. Weird. Anyway, thanks for playing! There are alternative mappings too in the game!
Dr. is flattered and says hi!
I really like the mechanics of this one. And the artwork is cute.
Very interesting interpretation of the theme. Timing the jumps was satisfying when I got it right :P
Thank you!
Fun and decent game.
A bit at time, especially when shaking but then it goes with the theme because of that!
Looking forward to seeing a finished version.
There was actually quite a lot of ideas for this project that we did not have time to implement :) Maybe someday!
Very unique and original idea ! I love it ! :D
Great job !
Thanks!
PRKL! Täähän oli loistava pläjäys, teemaan istu ku nyrkki silmään ja muutenkin hilpeä sekä haastava peli <3
Kiitos kaunis! Mukava kuulla noin pätevältä osanottajalta. :)
The mechanics are really unique and funny, really like the music and the art. Maybe I would have put the visual feedback of the impending explosion in the formula's sprite color (I looked closely and I saw that there's a little shaking animation but it's hard to read while you're moving), looking at the green bar in the left corner is a bit tricky. But that's the only thing I have to say, overall it's a great work, one of my favorites!
Noted, and this is actually something our artist suggested, but we didn't have time to look into it. Thanks for playing and the kind words! :)
Ah the unique game mechanic was perfect for the theme! Very good
Thanks!
Heey!!!
I loved that, you should sell the formula that explodes as merchandise.
That was great, awesome puzzle platformer.
Thanks for the glowing review! 👐
Nice game you have here. I like your implementation of the "unstable" theme, and I also liked the little opening cutscene.
Thanks! Also just reviewed yours!
Top marks from me! This was REALLY HARD, but so fun and satisfying and unique! Great implementation of the theme and you squeezed so much mechanics into the game (I especially liked the shaking mechanic). One of the standout entries from this jam. Great work!
That's high praise! Thank you! Really enjoyed yours as well!
