Time stamped and everything for you sir! https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1917035841?t=06h09m11s
Yeah, that is on me as the programmer. My artist did an amazing job but since I was so slow with the coding and everything I couldn't flex them as hard as I wanted to! If the request for us to continue the game is high, we are going to do our best to expand the game even more! Thank you for your support!
It was enjoyable. I liked the shop and the fact that they were gacha pons. I did fall through the world in my first play by exploring the map through the lava. Then tried to reload the game in the main menu and everything broke. However, restarting the game fixed it.
I like the idea and concept.
Thank you
It's in the spirit of things. You can plan and stuff. The honorable is to not work on it before the time. There are pros and cons to it. Most game jams you join will know the theme as it starts but since this is the first time they might drop the theme early to help people plan around the theme.
- Can that lead to people working on the game right away? Yes of course (totally didn't work on pixel art this morning because of the old time frames >.> )
- Does this allow more people to plan? Yes! I think planning is the hardest part of game jam because of the tight deadlines you got! It also shows who can be good at scoping properly and managing if you're in a team.
- Is this a serious game jam? I guess since there is a prize pool people are going to gun for best.
- Do you have to take it seriously? No, def not. The enjoyment of game jams is to just make games whether it's bad or good. You can flex your ability or just prototype something to see if it works. All in the intent of the user
- Can you sharpen your skills before the game jam? Yes, most people do since some people are casual developers or are just learning. Got friends that never been in a game jam but have worked with strict deadlines so got time to get people up to speed for game jams.
I think it will be clear who cheats and who doesn't. I think most of everyone wants this to be a normal thing. I have been thinking about hosting my own game jam as a Vtuber but Ironmouse starting this might be a fun trend that will keep happening. If some people do cheat... well we could always make sure they don't come back to ruin other game jams! Either way excited!!!
This was a really well made game! I like that the crafting are flowers and that the idea is not to get converted. The music was great and I loved all of the sounds. My only problem is that the player moves extremely slow for my taste and would like him to move a bit faster. Also when you pick up the same amount of lowers theres no way for you to just drop them or if you wanted to use a specific spell you can't click and make that the next one. I had to expend all of the spells before I could get to the one I wanted. I love the game though and can see it being on steam. Nice job :D
I like the game, I like idea. It did take me a minute to realize to use my abilities is to right click because in the second instruction it says "click on" and maybe I just misread it but might want to double check the instructions. Really cool idea and I like the combination of the essence to make new abilities. I was not expecting a shooting game in this game jam but I am happy to play one. Didn't get far though lol
I like the concept, the art fits great. I was a little confused on the crafting system and almost had information over load. If you could make it so that the gems you get at the bottom right can show the number it is correspond to that would be good. The tutorial level was good but maybe having the crafting show up instead of talking to the unicorn would of been better. Audio was good and fit in with the game. The keys bindings are a little weird but it didn't take long to get use to. I would make left click the shoot mechanic though. I like the game a lot and can see it being a full fledged game.
Its good for the game jam. There are a lot of miscommunication happening in the game because I know I need to get the spells but there is no way for me to know how to do so. I also never realize this was a rouge-like until after my first death. You could write more about the game somewhere in the beginning room just to make it easier for the players to understand. Some mobs have insane speed. its the little mushroom guys specifically that some times just zoom at me. I like the sound the music cuts out after a certain point and in Unity there is a way to loop the song continuously by either in the inspector or through code. I like the little guy but his jumps feel heavy when he falls and if he is falling and you hit space he just rockets to the ground (might not be a bad idea to turn into an actual mechanic.) Overall I like the game and it was fun to play :D
Idea of the crafting your own magic is very good, I like it. The mobs are WAY too fast and sometimes stick to me. I think in the training area you need to state that holding right click then left clicking is how to fire the spell because I had no idea my first run until I started clicking all the buttons. There are a lot of ui problems like "press e to read scroll" and some of the mobs move even faster when they get closer to you so there might be some code problem that is allowing them to move way faster then the player. The audio for when the player gets hit was also really loud. I did like the idea you guys were going for though.
Its a cool idea with a lot to work with. I like that you can draw your own image for a spell. However, I find the hitbox to be inaccurate at times or some of the enemies do not detect the hit. The enemies are really strong and take a lot of work to just kill one and I think movement can be a little bit cleaner. Also you can draw outside of the box if you move the mouse fast enough and sporadic enough for it to draw outside. Don't know if the hit detection matters ifs outside but for the ones inside it doesn't detect much.
I like the idea you were going for. I didn't like the game play because I didn't know what I was doing for more than half the game. I also didn't know that scroll wheel would give me different spells/items until half through me playing and accidentally scrolling. I know you had the indication of scroll wheel but I wasn't able to understand what you meant until after I did it. Jumping was good however, it didn't make me feel good that some spots I can't reach without teleporting or having any indication where I would fall. Music was great because it was calming but the sound of the bugs dying was really loud compare to the music. There was a bug where some of the cocoons showed up with chest but some of the chest would turn into cocoons and then if you right click it again it would pop items.
The games seems pretty cool. I would of liked to go into the buildings even if there wasn't much in there, just to explore. The teleporter gets really wonky when you step into it and try to go down since the trigger is right in front of where you get placed when you go down. I would try to make it so the player gets placed a little further out in that room so they don't accidentally trigger it or have set to a key bind for the the player to interact. The slimes were cool but slow. Also the beginning was a lot of information where you might be able to scatter it around the game.
