Wow this looks amazing,  keep up the great work . Also nice twist on the idea. For your first game, it looks and plays way better than my first one. Good luck.

ok thank you

is it okay to be inspired by other pixel art and make your own pixel art using the "same idea" but I'll be changing the color, shading, the structure, basically make it my way. I know this is a stupid question but I just wanna make sure.

Devlog #1:

I've decided to switch to Unity cause it's free and I know that if I don't switch now, I use GMS 2 till my free trial is up and all my hard work goes away sooo yeah. I've already started working on it but sadly some of the stuff  I wanted to implement is too hard to implement in Unity or just can't be implemented so i don't think I'll be able to submit in due time but that's okay cause I've learned so much in this Game Jam, c ya in the next Devlog.

I'm pretty sure you can, many people here are saying they're going to try to continue a game they've lost motivation to finish and think this is the right way to get motivation and me I'm continuing a game I started making days before the jam and thought this could help me make it better especially since this is my first game.

Wow, your absolutely amazing like coming up with ideas so good that fast. Can't wait to play your game.

Thanks, really appreciate it for taking your time and replying

Wow I really enjoyed your music, though I think you might need to make the world theme long especially because of the fact it will be repeated the most, and I felt that it was a tad too high. but overall pretty good. also you should really check your spelling in your video desc.. I don't really think I'll be using music in my game but I'l see later. Not gonna lie, I'll probably come back later and ask of you for music so git reggie.

The game:

just your typical RPG game but I do have an idea that I'm trying to implement that will make it differ from RPG games, soooooo lets get going

ROADMAP:

1: camera, player, adding a tileset, starting designing the first "level" CHECK game so far (click this if u wanna see I guess)

2: enemies, polishing the design of the first "level", and maybe start coding the combat system

3: add NPC's, a simple and cliche story, start the combat system if you haven't already started

4: polish the game and get it ready to submit

5: get ready for feedback (good or bad) and fix the bugs and implement cool features suggested by others

EDIT #1:

The plot: basically a demon has taken over the land, and slowly the Earth is dying so your quest is to go kill him. but it turns out the demon is Pride, the deadliest sin of all the sins. So you know you gotta travel across the land, fight his many minions and kill him (sorry this is as cliche as it gets ;))

EDIT #2:

I've decided to change a couple of things including the player sprite and tilesets cause tbh, corrupted land and all that is a bit cliche and I'm more of a nature person anyway.

EDIT #3: okay from now on I'll be posting replys to add to my devlog so here we go

I've noticed that there's nothing here on GMS 2 (not that I'm saying you have to update it) and I know there are still many people who use GMS 1 but it would be quite helpful if you could add something for GameMaker Studio 2 and some resources cause I cannot draw for my life . . .

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

My name is Ray, I'm 16 years old. I'm currently learning the fundamentals of game development though I do have some experience with python and a bit with C++.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

This is my first jam, and It would be cool to learn game development from more experienced developers (in mostly real time)

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I wasn't inspired by an of the games I play and I love too many to list here, but one of my favorite games would have to be fOrTnItE ... joking, it would be Zelda: BOTW and WoW.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

Yes, I have made a "game" following some tutorials on youtube (by heartbeast, Platform shooter), I continued by adding a heart power-up, a game over screen, 2 new enemies, etc. But it was some really basic stuff, and I want to start becoming an intermediate at programming and game development (all this on GMS 2). I am also attempting to make a basic RPG by myself only using free assets online (they have everything expect working autotiles for rpgs, like I don't care how it looks, just want it to be able to be made into a tileset (Though I'm pretty sure it's me and not them...) and asking questions, lots of 'em.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I love to read, and everything else a person would be passionate about. I also like to write a bit, and chocolate is my life.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Learn the fundamentals of game development and see if I am capable of making a basic game within the time limits (was it 2 weeks, I don't really remember . . .).
