very straightforward and easy to learn, but fun!

I liked how you provided some feedback to let me know the speed was increasing, and it was good that the difficulty increases.

I did have a glitch in one of my games where it stopped getting hard - it kept spawning only one obstacle per screen, always the same height, and this went on for a couple min before I quit out.

It might be nice to somehow control how high you jump, but still not allow infinite jumps. Maybe based upon how long the space bar is held? or maybe give a double jump?  Some way that I could come down more quickly when I didn't want to be in the air that long.  Just a thought.

The game was very responsive - I felt very in control of when the jump occurred and I liked that.

A little background track might be nice - what does Kalak like to listen to when he runs?

I love the backdrop that you chose for space.  Fun game - fast paced.

I sometimes had trouble after losing a life where the right/left arrow wouldn't be responsive right away after the game restarted.  If I survived this, it would eventually start working, but sometimes it caused me to die.

My arrow speed was just a little too fast at times, not giving me the fine grain control.

I liked the variation with some of the aliens shooting and some not.  It made me have to decide whether I could get in and shoot or need to dodge.

Wow - very polished looking game - the graphics look like a real arcade game. Right from the view in Itch.io to the game itself.

Not a big deal, but given how beautiful the game is, one place that was just a little inconsistent was the use of the alert box - it didn't have the same look.  Not a big deal, but if you wanted, you could create your own Div overlay and then style it.

It would be nice to have a little feedback on the screen when you hit a UFO. With the star, for instance, you have a little sound.  You could do that for the UFO too and it wouldn't hald gameplay.

The movement was smooth and the speed of movement seemed just right.

I enjoyed playing. Good variation in speeds and sizes of the enemies.

I didn't notice any increases in difficulty as time went by.  This might be nice, but maybe not so necessary since you only have one life.

The movement seemed a little granular at times - I'm wondering if this could be smoothed out a little?

The window size / scrolling did cause some issues at time, but this isn't indicative of the programming - more the setup in Itch.io.

Very innovative idea! The setting is great - good job with creating the movie theater ambiance.  It was fun to play.

I noticed here and there that the popcorn wouldn't disappear when I thought it should, or that lives wouldn't be decremented when I thought they should (maybe this is related?)

I really liked the mouse trailer so you could see where you are.

When I first entered, the combination of the darkness and the slow piano music gave me a vibe of a horror/suspense scene.  This isn't either good or bad - just wanted to give you a sense of what I felt.

Fun game - very challenging. The music gives a good overall feeling to the game that fits well.

I like the graphics - especially the background.  The game worked well as is, but it might also be nice to give the sense that the player is moving, too (scroll the background?). Just an idea, but not critical.

I had a few tight places where I'm not sure I could have survived - my space bar didn't always seem to react as quickly as I would have liked. Maybe you could make sure it is available as soon as possible after the player lands.

Wow - very challenging game.  It took me a bit to get in far enough to appreciate some of the things you did.

I did have a glitch at times after restarting where the L/R arrows didn't respond.  It seemed to be stuck in a state from the previous game.

I really liked the variations in the colors and wave formations that you put in as the game progresses - especially the spiral.

The small screen area isn't very forgiving. I might like this better on a larger screen.

Getting my hand from mouse to keys quickly was of paramount importance.  Your game may benefit from you capturing the Enter key and letting them start by hitting Enter as well as clicking the button.

Very fun concept, and the graphics are very cute and fitting for the game.

A few things I noticed:

  • After a while, the background sound would stop.
  • The snake/egg collision usually worked early in the game, but subsequent ones sometimes wouldn't.
  • The chicken shouldn't be allowed to go off-screen.

I like the crow sound and how it makes the snake go away a little

I like the concept for the game. The speed of the player relative to the enemy is a good mix - it makes it challenging to avoid them, but not impossible.

A couple things I noticed:

  •  update your game title - it makes a first impression
  • For me, the enemies didn't seem to kill me - they would get to where they overlap, but the game kept going. (Player feedback)
  • The bullets didn't always seem to kill the enemy. (Player feedback)

The enemies track the player really well.  Also, the control scheme seemed intuitive and made for good gameplay.

Did you want to set this to "Play in the browser"?

Thank you for trying it out and posting your comments!  I'm really interested in learning about two things you posted on, so I can fix them:

1) How did you get the enemies stuck?  Was there a certain set of steps you could do to cause that?  I haven't seen that happen (at least not in the final game), but I'd really like to fix that.

2) for the volume - another person mentioned that, too.  Is my default volume too high, so you had to lower your speaker volume, whereas other games didn't force you to do that?

Thank you for reviewing!  You and another person commented on the volume.  I was curious about that - are you saying that relative to other games, the default level is too high, so you had to lower your system volume when other games didn't force you to do that.

Also, on the circular movement going left/right, are you referring to the curve it does as it changes direction?  Or were you actually seeing it continue to curve after you were holding left/right down?

Thanks again!

Thanks a lot, Kristen, for the detailed feedback.  One question - for the lives, did you not get 3 lives?  It was supposed to give you 3 lives and only end the game after the third life.  I'll look into that.

Thank you for playing and testing it out, and for the UI suggestions.  I think I'll speed up the player a bit and perhaps make the AI of the ghosts a little smarter so that it is challenging on level 1.

Thank you for the feedback! I'll play around with the movement to see if I can get it a bit more responsive.

I enjoyed this game! The info you put in the help gave me what I needed to know, and I enjoyed using a combination of movement, jumping, and manipulation of the mouse. I did experience some weirdness with the physics when moving the boxes - maybe adding a bit more mass to them?
