The prompt is "Sports 2". Up to you to interpret that on your own. Is it the sequel to sports? An Evolution of Sports? Sports played during quarantine? Wacky high powered sports? Old sports that are now played by super natural beings and taking everything to 11?
There's a lot of ideas you could come up with!
Hey Greeneman42. Good question! At the bottom of the rules it says:
* You may assemble your team and discuss possible ideas. But avoid designing and DEFINITELY do not create any game specific code before the start date. ( Plugins, engines, and frameworks are fine ).
All game engines are allowed including Asset Store packages and open source frameworks. Web based games are also welcome. You can make a game for whatever platform you like, but know that if your game is Linux / Mac / or VR exclusive you're going to have a limited audience for ranking. But you do you.
Thanks for the question!
I ran the 2018 Awful Summer Jam . Our judging / voting period ended yesterday but the results page is completely empty.
Additionally I cannot see the ranked list for our public voting category "Community Choice". I'd have to open each entry page and look at the rank assigned to it, making it tough to select a runner up winner.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.
Just a heads up, your game uses a self extracting archive which is technically a violation of the rule against installers.
We talked it over and decided to let it slide in this instance as it doesn't do anything more than unzip the files into the target directory. In the future we're going to clarify the rule to also include self-extracting archives.
tldr: You're fine, just don't use self extracting archives in future Awful jams.

Hey ShareShift,
The judging process in this jam is intensive for the judges, they put a lot of hard work into reviewing each submitted game. So to be fair to the people who do put time and effort into their jam entry, we disqualify games that have little to no substance. A good example of this is https://itch.io/jam/awful-summer-jam-2018/rate/278360. While that game is on theme and good for a laugh, there isn't a lot there to talk about. So it's disqualified from judging.
We don't determine "minimal effort" based on skill, engine used, or if a splash screen is present, it just has to have some personality and care put into it.
Thanks for the question!

Hi Psi,
We appreciate your enthusiasm, but there is no rule against this in the jam itself. The EULA simply states you are legally responsible (not Awful Jams) if copyrights holders come knocking.
To clarify, We will not disqualify a game for having copyrighted material. It's not our place to determine what is or isn't infringing. However if your game is DMCA'd, it will be disqualified and we can't do anything to help you.
Thanks!
