Haha I enjoyed playing your game! The merging mechanic used in the game is similar to ours except in ours we do it in top-down. We would appreciate if you would try out our game too https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-5/rate/929153 : )
This is a very fun and unique take on the theme! It's very chaotic in a good way, I really enjoyed that. I feel like it was too hard to quickly tho, as I struggled to get past level 1, and then lost on level 2. Also I think the items sometimes don't go to the cart, but rather just get dropped (even if it's on your list), so maybe a more generous hitbox for adding things to the cart could be nice. Overall, tho, great job!
Also I left a comment in your community post, plz you check out our game :) (it's at 19 ratings)
Wow, that really hurt my brain! This was so much fun (and frustrating, but that's probably not surprising). I don't have any critiques, other than maybe slow down the movement as sometimes I accidentally go in a direction too many times. I made it all the way to level 15, but gave up there, that level feels almost impossible. Our game is actually very similar to this one, plz check it out :)
Really fun game, I loved the crazy physics! For some reason, the audio doesn't work (and I remembered to use Chrome, so I don't think I'm doing something wrong). I think the levels are too similar, I would appreciate some more variety. Additionally, if I get trapped by enemies, it's pretty much game over (would appreciate a moment of invincibility after getting hit). Also, a lot of the art looks blurry, did you import them correctly? Finally, I feel that the colors are too bright and vibrant, and don't go great with each other (I would recommend using Adobe Color to get a nice palette).
My favorite part of this game is (for some reason) randomly getting flung across the stage. You'd think that that would be a bad thing, but it's so much fun. I hope, if you continue with this idea, you utilize that feature more.
Cool game, it has nice graphics and good music. I had a lot of fun! I think my biggest critique is that the game feel isn't very good. The sword swing animation looks a little more powerful than a gentle tap of the sword. It's not very easy to tell who's hitting who, especially with multiple allies and enemies in one place. The sound for hitting skeletons isn't very satisfying, I think I would've preferred a sound like the bones being broken.
Also, I felt like having a game over reset the entire game was a bit harsh (I didn't finish the game after having to reset twice, one from clipping out of bounds, the other from a game over). I encountered some buggy stuff (nothing too major), but here are some screenshots:
This house is floating
I can clip out of bounds here
I still really enjoyed this game, and would love to see you expand on it!
Thank you so much for playing through all of the levels! It's kind of a miracle that there are no bugs since the code is such a mess. Out of curiosity, how long did it take you? Also, yes, the music is definitely repetitive, and I will be recomposing for a future version (it's basically priority 1). For now tho, you can just turn off music via the options in the main menu. I'll check out your game, it looks really interesting :)
Wow, this is amazing! Super clever mechanic, implemented perfectly. I wish I could offer any criticism, but other than the gameplay being somewhat repetitive, there isn't really anything I can say. Tradeoffs such as the one in this game can lead to really interesting gameplay. I hope you further develop this idea. I think this could be really fun as online multiplayer.
Extremely great job!
Rated and gave feedback on yours, can u check out ours: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-5/rate/929153
This game is amazing! It's so much fun to combo moves, the graphics are amazing, the audio is super great. The only problems I have with this game is that the control scheme is weird, and requires me to have both hands right on top of each other, unless I want to switch weapons (guaranteeing that I have to pause to do this). Something like O and P rather than Z and X should (in my opinion) work better. Also, presenting so many controls on the title screen can be overwhelming, spreading them out as those buttons gain functionality would be better (for example, only teach the Z button when the player acquires oil). I unfortunately wasn't able to finish the game, but still had a blast! (since this post is so long I'll send a screenshot of where I got stuck in a separate comment)
This game looks amazing, the graphics are incredibly good! I love the mechanic, it allows for some really cool and creative puzzles. The only problems I had with this game are that the instructions aren't very clear (just some text on levels 0 and 1 should fix that), and that there isn't a very clear indicator as to which orbs have touched the big one, and which ones haven't. Also, the final levels (except level 9) felt easier than the middle ones, but that could just be me.
Great job, this game is really good!
Here's a really tough but fun platformer that deserves way more ratings: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-5/rate/929356
And I couldn't resist (sorry), but I feel like our game also deserves more rates: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-5/rate/929153
I really enjoyed this game (I just love Metroidvanias). I think it would've been cool if you hid secrets everywhere, as it encourages exploration. I felt that the camera was too low, I think I would've preferred a higher camera with the option to look down. The game was also missing audio. Audio can add a lot to a game, so having anything at all would've probably been nice. Finally, I had trouble distinguishing many of the areas, causing me to go in a few loops around the world every time I needed to find the next object.
This is a great game, nicely done!
Cool idea! It fits the theme really well. I wish the levels were interconnected tho, rather than going to the menu, and then a random level. Additionally, I think the fact that you can jump infinitely makes the game way too easy. Finally, the instructions scroll by too fast (in the main menu).
Nice job on this!
This game is great! It's gorgeous, and I love that there's a narrative tie-in for the mechanic. I wish the instructions were a bit clearer, I didn't quite understand the objective for a while. I also felt the rotation was a bit wonky. Finally, I was able to beat some of the levels by just doing random stuff, and it felt like there was a bigger emphasis on aligning objects than solving puzzles. Overall, very original game tho, I haven't played anything like it!
Thank you for all the feedback! Also nice job making it that far, this is not an easy game. Do feel free to skip levels, if you're interested in playing a bit more (my personal favorites are the last four, but they're also the hardest ones so beware). I agree that the music is quite repetitive, hopefully we'll have a better one in a future version of this game.
I love the concept, I think there's a lot of potential! I feel like both the player and camera move painfully slowly (especially given how important speed is to this game). I think this game could work really well with a super-fast pace. The objective wasn't very clear, and I'm still a bit confused on how the red squares work. Nice job, though, would love to see you expand on this!
