Fun game, looks really good with the lightning in 2D. Upgrade system is also nice, but feels a bit unbalanced near the end. I maxed out the gun, but the purple enemies were still just huge damage sponges. They were also able to damage me while not even touching me yet. It takes a lot of time to get all the way back to the surface to upgrade, which is not necesarily a problem, but it would be nice if you also restore some health or something or buy health packs for less money then a upgrade (like 50 bucks). I think then the game would be a bit more balanced and fun all the way until the bottem!
This is a really good game. The mechanics are simple, but super interesting. Using your guns knockback physics to move, while also watching out for enemies makes for a fun and tactical gameplay loop. Saving for upgrades only enhances the gamemplay loop even further.
Only thing that bothered me was that the hull was able to go offscreen (especially at the top or top-corners of the screen). This made it really hard to see where you should shoot to get out of the situation. It's also what made me die in most scenarios. Otherwise great game
I played the full game, so I'm gonna be a bit critical, hope you don't mind :).
First of all the style of the game is great, nice graphics and the part above the water was fun, collecting your gear and the turotial buttons in the world.
But the game itself was a bit slow, it could be a whole lot shorter, either by creating a smaller map or having double the movementspeed. I get that it is to explore, but there is not much rewarding for exploring, which makes it more frustrating then fun. The thing that kept me going was the suspense towards the ending, but in the end it was just a dream haha. For me that was kind of a bummer, but I think that is more personal.
One last thing is to maybe have a danger sign at the downwards paths where the fish swim. because they are almost imposible to dodge if you don't know the first time, making you respawn all the way back.
I like your take on the theme, and the graphics and UI were also put together really well. The slow curser gives a nice visual effect, but is a bit felt a bit anoying in a game where you use the curser all the time. I also was not able to get very far into the game, probably because of typing wrong sentences as I've seen in the other comment. Definitly gonna try again tho when I have some time to dive deerper into it
I really liked the look and feel of your game. The audio fit well and the graphics were clean. The game did feel a little slow, empty rooms without a real purpose. The enemies also felt like they had no impact, except for the flying onces, those were really affecting the platforming elemtent of the game. It would have been better if the other enemies also formed obstacles instead of being able to one shot them, But designing rooms/levels is very hard in a week so I don't blame you hahaha. Sad ending tho :(
I really liked that you go into a 'pokemon battle' when hooking the fish. It was unexpected. It was a bit hard to figute out what buttons to click in the battle though. Also it was a bit frustrating to reach the bottom all the way, just to find out you can't catch anything there.
Besides that nice assets as well!
