Great entry, just needs save points.

I could see this being expanding into a rather impressive metroidvania if some of the keys were replaced with abilities.

The game is great, but I didn't like that you get reset to the beginning of the screen when you lose a life. It made the combat a bit boring and unrewarding. The game was also a bit buggy and a few hitboxes felt weird. The music and ending however is amazing. RIP Simba.

Oh man I screwed up at the end and died right where there are dead bodies. Good submission tho!

Amazing game! The graphics are insane, the audio is very good as well.

Really enjoyed playing it, very smooth animations and controls.

Great job!

The graphics and audio were amazing! The backgrounds really set the tone for each area and the audio really added to the immersion. While playing through the level was fun, I ended up facing several issues while playing.

I think the game could've benefitted from being shorter given the scope of the game jam. I also think that making the light attack and heavy attack more distinct could've helped. It felt like they only differed in damage dealt (and had the same starting and ending lag) and I didn't find a reason for ever wanting to use the light attack. Also, given how the player can attack mid-air, you could have added an animation for that. It felt odd to see the player jumping and making the attack sound effect with no visible change.

While I would have loved to have finished the game, I ended up not being able to go down a bunch of platforms (where there is a visual indicator to press 'S') and ended up getting stuck. It worked during my first pass but not when I was backtracking. I'm not sure if this is a bug or not.

Overall, you did a good job! I hope I can finish it someday.

Immaculate sound design! You did really well with the sounds to make it an atmospheric experience. I really enjoyed the story too - an emotional ending, but this is a story where the journey is more important than the ending. However, I did feel like the combat was pointless and didn't add much to the experience as enemies were also very weak. Overall, great game and incredible work on the sounds!

Loved the style. Cool animations. This could turn out to be a really good game.

I feel like resetting you to the start when you run out of lives is a bit harsh, but understandable. I really enjoyed trying out your game, even when I fumbled a bit with th controls because of the stop completely before jumping part. I loved the music and the enemy designs, but the stronger attack were a bit overpowered, leaving really no reason for me to use the other one. However, I understand how you had limited time to complete this and definitely did better than I could do so I'm sorry for being a bit harsh. I really did enjoy this game and will see if I get good enough to play it to completion soetime.

I love the graphics and de music was amazing.

But i have 2 problems with the game,

The combat is irrelevant, since the enemies are useless and I think that if the level design had been more focused on platforming it would have been a much richer experience.

And the ending left me a little confused, it's not a big deal but I don't see the point

Overall, its a good game i like it!

really good choice for the graphics, i think it fits the game very well! the platforming felt solid and i like the story. although, the light/heavy attack animations are a bit broken. i dont think the sprites were done properly. besides that nitpick, this is a really good submission. well done!

Made it to the end! Poor guy, I hope he is okay. The game had a really polished look to it, I like the overall aesthetic and feel to it. I think the combat itself could have been improved a bit because having to stand still and spam your sword messed with the flow of the game, maybe the heavy attack could have been something like a sliding lunge? Other than that though it was fun to play and I had a good time beating it. Nice work!

Pretty great entry! Very polished overall experience. The story was a little silly but I liked the characters. Simple platforming mechanics but it felt good. I actually think if anything it was too easy. I never got hit by an enemy or got hurt, so I think the enemy AI could definitely use some improvement, but overall it was an enjoyable experience (until the very end! how dare you! lol).

Here's my gameplay video playtest for you to watch, hopefully you get some good feedback from it.
