Great game. The concept seemed boring at first and I was reluctant to play, but after a couple rounds I was really enjoying it. The humour was great and I loved the art style.
I feel like the camera should shake on impact with the enemy, rather than the launch of the spell, and I think the enemies could have exploded more violently but that's a bit nitpicky. Overall, I think this game is another top contender
This is a good game. I love the squishiness of the toast and the art style of the game is very clean. The music is also very good, and adds to the overall feel of the game.
It also feels very polished, and I especially like the burnt death effect. I think the inclusion of a pause menu also adds to this feeling. The controls are snappy and the puzzles are really well designed. It certainly follows the theme with its main mechanic. Add to this the simplicity of the game and I think you have a chance to be in the top 20!
The only problem that I had with it was that some of the jumps were a bit hard, but that might just be me being bad at this kind of platformer.
Great game. I love the art style for the game, and it fits the overall feel of the game very well. There has also clearly been a lot of work put into the mechanics, and after my dumbass self got told that you use the arrow keys to move and not wasd I found that the movement was nice and snappy. The level design was good, and although I felt as if it could have used more, you did say that your schedule was rough.
The controls were a little hard to get the hang of, but after I got the feel for them I felt like I had a lot of control, which is good for a puzzle/platformer like this.
Overall, it is a very good game and I feel like if it was worked on more then it could make a good actual release.
Love the interpretation of the theme. The art style is nice, and fits the game very well. The platforming controls were nice and the music choice definitely gave the game the sense of urgency that it needs. If there was something that I would change, it would be that some of the obstacles feel a bit random, and it feels like you have to be lucky to get past 80m, but that might just be me. Overall, a good game
I love the tight platforming controls, and the squishyness of the player. The puzzles were good and I liked the overall style of the game. I also liked the number of levels. I personally don't think that the timer was necessary as the difficulty of the levels was enough as is. Overall it was a good game, with a good amount time put into all of it's features
Top of the karma page and no ratings? That's not right, so here goes:
This is a nice take on the classic snake game. I like how the game embraces the fact that there is no way to win, and that you can only get a high score. The choice of music was excellent and all the visuals work well together.
It would have been nice to see some more player feedback when you eat something, and there could have maybe been some more salt
Great game. The ending made me smile. I liked the tight platforming controls, and the main mechanic fit the game very well. The hitboxes of the spikes were a bit weird at times, but it was fine mostly.
The amount of game juice was good and the feedback when you jumped made the game feel much better. It also looks good with the matrix-ish look and the background constantly moving.
Good game
The puzzles in this game are pretty good for a jam game. I also really like the fact that you can change your FOV as this is something you can't usually do in most jam games. Good take on the theme, the only problem I have is that after I press the button on the first level, if I press it again then the barrier won't go down all the way meaning that I have to restart the level. Luckily this is made easy by your pause menu, which is a nice addition to the game, so it wasn't too much of a problem
Nice game. I like the amount of polish, and killing enemies is very satisfying. Perfect amount of game juice. The slowmo mechanic is well implemented but it would have been nice to have had some visual feedback that it was happening. I can see that a lot of effort went into things other than gameplay like the pause menu, the highscore system and the death screen. This is also the first jam game I've ever played to include a settings menu which is a huge plus as most jam games are very loud, and a volume slider is much appreciated.
The player was cute looking and even though the enemies are just triangles, there's enough juice in there for even them to look good.
Just as a question, did you use LMMS for the music?
The music is funky and the visuals are good. I especially like the way you took the theme. It seems like a more involved take on what I did in our game. One thing that I feel could have been done differently is by making the dash based on the direction you are looking rather than having individual buttons for each direction, but that is a gameplay decision, and it's your call to make.
