Hey thanks for giving our game a try. We are sorry to hear that it was confusing for you. I think it sounds as if the waypoints in the tutorial are bugging out for you.( I have tested this and confirmed there is an issue with the waypoints in the tutorial- to fix it simply click a ship and click the first waypoint to have it follow it-the first ship you try this on will hit the first waypoint and then stop for some reason. The rest should work. This is not an issue during the levels for some reason.) It also sounds like you didn't find the level one button at the end of the tutorial. This is where the game starts and allows you to fight enemies. Sorry this bug happened to you and I hope this clears things up! (if you wish to try again and have more questions let us know)
Sorry about that! If you shift click you can select multiple enemies to follow a waypoint. You can also just click on an enemy and then click on the first waypoint in a path to have it assigned to that. I recommend giving the other two friendly ships waypoints and then right clicking the third to control and do a flank or other method to try to catch the enemies off guard. Thanks for playing our game, we will be getting to yours as soon as our schedule allows!
This is our third year hosting this jam (we finally made it onto the calendar lol) and we are happy to announce that the jam starts December 21st and ends Jan. 4th (two weeks long). Once again, a group of high school students is hosting a jam that roughly covers winter break- the jam's purpose is to give people motivation to finish any projects they have been working on or start new ones. This year there will be no theme as usual, but we will have 3 wildcards for inspiration if necessary (this idea comes from Godot Wild jam and seems to work pretty well, so we are trying it this year!). Rating this year will be open to all submitters and joiners of the jam as usual. Check the jam page for criteria.
Thanks, and Merry Christmas/Happy New Years!
Winter Showdown 2024 - itch.io
(if any artists want to join the team lmk, as we would like to transition away from ai art lol)
Yea we were under a big time crunch for this submission and the levels were pushed back to the end, so we weren't able to test some of the last ones as much as we would have liked to. Our original plan was to make a whole new area after the farm that had healing, but thats how these things go lol. (Our team always makes it our goal to not over scope our time and we always do :)
This game was very fun hehehe :) I killed WAY more civilians than aliens
I liked the polish on the art and the laser was fun to fire. (the switch in the settings was great as well- nice details) Feedback-wise, I think that the punch could have done a little more damage for how quickly enemies spawned in later on.
But overall, I really enjoyed the submission- GJ!
Loved how the buildings danced as I went around town. I also like the cutscene :) I think the rthym part was very manageable and it was a good idea to use the mouse buttons, as the other hand is moving around. maybe adding some more obstacles in the world could add more challenge as the game progresses.
But overall, very well executed in such a short time period, good job!
Great Job! I loved the humor that the cards added to the game. The systems seemed balanced, there was a lot of great polish, and this felt like a great idea for the theme. If you plan to expand the game, I think adding cursors that stay on the game and autoclick for you could be great, maybe allowing it to have an afk aspect like cookie clicker. But I also like the uniqueness you created and the humor is just so fitting for the theme.
GJ!
Thanks for playing our game!
Haha I wish we had more time to flesh out the tutorial(and many other things- mostly playtesting). To clarify on aiming- the spells all follow mouse direction- except lightning, which actually strikes where your mouse is ( and random other spots depending on charge time.) Sound did end up being very loud XD. thanks for feedback and very much enjoyed your game as well!
