Wow I'm honored to hear that! I tried to focus on the feel of the combat so that at least that would be fun or interesting.
And yeah I was going to add more enemies and stuff but I had to scope it out hehe
Thank you!
Thanks for playing my game!
Yeah its pretty hard without using mouse haha. I did consider doing directional attacks, but the implementation was more complicated so I just opted to just get the cursor position. I also kinda dislike games where you can't move away and attack at the same time, but that's just a matter of taste. But yeah something like that with limiting the attacks would actually make the game more fun I think.
Thanks!
Love the sound and music. Graphics are very nice as well!
- Was a bit confused as to what I'm supposed to do in the game at first. Thought that maybe the logs are picked up with a button or something.
- Would like to be able to look up and down to admire the nice scenery. Especially with the logs being on the ground, not being able to look down feels a bit awkward.
- If you hold the torch when lighting the last campfire, it stays on the screen while you fly into the sky which looks a bit funny.
- It would be cool to be able to use the shape above the first campfire to locate the other ones, but right now the sprite spins with you when you go around the campfire, so you can't really tell which way it should be pointing.
Great job for a first game for sure!
Hey!
Gave your game a go, but couldn't get past the 3rd(?) level with the long red bridge thing. I don't really play platformers so that could really just be a skill issue, but I thought that my perspective would be useful as well.
- The disappearing ground mechanic is cool, but the execution is confusing. Its not explained what determines when they disappear and it wasn't completely evident from the gameplay either, at least for me. They sort of fade away gradually so its hard to tell what actually triggered it and when. I felt that hitting them causes the disappearance but I couldn't be sure.
- The wall jumping didn't feel very intuitive and I thought that it was weird that you could only wall jump on the coloured terrain.
That being said I thought that the music and sounds were very nice. The visuals were pleasing and coherent as well :)
Good job for your first game, keep making them!
This is also my first game jam :)
Cool idea, managed to beat it on the first time through. Was pretty close with the boss tho. I'll do my best to provide constructive feedback :)
- Like others mentioned, stats about the defenses and their upgrades would be a great addition. Its hard to make any kind of strategic decisions when you don't know how the towers differ from each other.
- Also enemy health or some other indication of how close the enemy is to dying, and tower range would be nice to see in this kind of game.
- First I was confused on what I was supposed to do because I didn't read the description with the controls and they are not displayed ingame.
- The aim of the towers seems to lag behind the enemies, especially when shooting from afar (especially noticeable with the "fire everything" ability.)
- Maybe the boss should also go along the route, but that may be a matter of taste.
With that being said, I really liked the music and sound design. The bgm is banging and especially the laser sfx was really satisfying. The sprites and animations are also very cool with a coherent style. Didn't come across any kind of bugs or real issues with the program either
Enjoyed this game. Keep making more games!
