Game Description
Explore a dark forest in search of fires to clear a mysterious dark feeling. A strange force lingers in the air, ever encroaching on your mind and something in the back of your mind is telling you not too linger for too long in outside the safety of the campfires.
How does your game tie into the theme?
We took a more abstract approach to the theme, thinking of the void as a deep darkness in which nothing can be seen. The darkness is a void that consumes anything that wanders too deep into it for too long, but something that is also erased with even the weakest light.

Cool 3D world - very impressive 3D build for a game jam! I did find the campfires pretty easily, but I appreciated the cool down features of the compass and the light. I can see that this has a lot of potential if you fleshed it out further,
awesome atmosphere and graphics! was a bit lost on what to do first but read the description XD. after walking around a bit you can quickly find the fires and move on to the next making the compass kinda useless.
Very atmospheric and immersive game, I loved SFX and music
It was a bit hard to figure out the main goal and the controls are somewhat clunky, but this doesn't take anything away from the overall feeling
Nice entry
Music is amazing !
Graphics are topnotch !
And it's damned immersive !
Oh wait, I only just launched the game :)
... after playing ...
Game idea is original, everything I said before playing stay true.
I would maybe add a bit more variations into the footsteps, either with different sounds or the randomizer, using pitch and volume db ?
I think having something scary would have been great too, although I was freaked out a bit when walking into a 'boboom' ?? like the wood falling to my head I don't know.
Thanks for the game ! (by the way i didn't felt the lack of movement from the camera, it was a part of the game that fitted your game for me)
I would love to hear what you think about mine too !
cool theme, agree with everyone else about the camera
I did it! :D
Nice and atmospheric environment. I just felt the camera was a little stuck because the lack of up-down movement. But it was a really well made game, congrats!
haha so far the camera constraint is the most mentioned feedback we got. We definetely keep that in mind for future games. Thanks for playing and sharing your thoughts.
Atmospheric journey, nice audio, though it's too dark and all you see are silhouettes therefore bright sticks seem strange.
Noticed that sticks can spawn inside trees.
Would've liked if cooldown refreshed when bonfire lit. And camera movement is too constrained because of only one axis.
Thanks for providing some feedback. I noticed it being to dark as well especially when playing during daytime. That's why we added a gamma slider in the options which should help to increase visibility. The bright logs are a stylistic choice that felt more fair during playtesting when venturing into the darkness.
Really liked the atmosphere setting here. Including a setting for Gamma was really good, was able to see more things on my rig than i would have by default. Wasn't too sure about what I was supposed to do, but i had fun running around stoking fires and collecting wood!
I love this kind of atmosphere, even if I dont know what to do.
my main problem is the walk sound, which kind of ruins the environmental sounds I really like.
Lack a bit of feedback when you collect wood.
Thanks for the helpful feedback. The main goal of the game is to light all the campfires at once, what we really learned here that it is not easy to tell the player what to do without telling directly what to do, if you know what I mean. We thought that adding a straight objective somewhere on the screen wouldn't help with the immersion and maybe spark the couriosity.
Really good, thumbs up !!! :D
Nice submission, the graphics and sound were quite nice. I think I won the game by lighting all the campfires but could not really tell what happened looked like some white lines... wondering if it was a browser issue.
The inability to look up and down was a little strange made me feel light I was playing doom or Wolfenstein again, but really not an issue once I got used to it.
Did not quite understand the controls either stoking the fire made sense but not sure why I could light a torch some times and not others.
Thanks for submitting.
Thanks for playng and writing down some feedback. When you saw the white lines you reached the and. This is intentional and tied to the memory lane wildcard. We show you the same symbol at the beginning above the first campfire and it could be used as a map because the fires serve as the dots which connect the line :)
Regarding the torch there is a cooldown timer. Having permanent accessibility to the torch would have made the game too easy. In the upper left you can see a bar which shows the cooldown time. This is great feedback for us if it wasn't obvious or not good in terms of visibility. We can definetely work on that for future projects.
is that a g-g-g-g-gghost???!!1
Looks really nice should win
Amazing audio and graphics, I really enjoyed gameplay as well
Visuals and sounds add up to a good setting for exploring forests at night
Good Game. The Scenery is beautiful .
Love the sound and music. Graphics are very nice as well!
- Was a bit confused as to what I'm supposed to do in the game at first. Thought that maybe the logs are picked up with a button or something.
- Would like to be able to look up and down to admire the nice scenery. Especially with the logs being on the ground, not being able to look down feels a bit awkward.
- If you hold the torch when lighting the last campfire, it stays on the screen while you fly into the sky which looks a bit funny.
- It would be cool to be able to use the shape above the first campfire to locate the other ones, but right now the sprite spins with you when you go around the campfire, so you can't really tell which way it should be pointing.
Great job for a first game for sure!
Thanks for providing your thoughts.
I'm glad that you like the athmosphere and sounds I put most of my time time into that. :)
I had the same thought with the camera initially but I got so used to it while testing and debugging the game I totally forgot to add that back in.
We also thought about providing the shape to the player as some kind of hand tattoo and a location indicator on it but on second thought we agreed that it would ruin the mystery too early and make the game much shorter than it already is.
Thanks for playing and giving feedback, this is very helpful for future projects.
have a nice day
Really good atmosphere, the sound is superb, made me turn around constantly.
Thank you :)
