I really liked the aesthetic.  The fighting was effective. I liked additional areas you could go to regain your health. The game hit all the right nostalgia strings, I liked it a lot!

I actually enjoyed this little game more than most of the other entries so far! I hope more people give it a shot. I really enjoyed the feel. The music and simple mechanics were fun. I could see it turning into something more with some upgrades and additional enemies later on.

Nice work! :D

Developer

Wow I'm honored to hear that! I tried to focus on the feel of the combat so that at least that would be fun or interesting.

And yeah I was going to add more enemies and stuff but I had to scope it out hehe

Thank you!

Great game Idea, missing a bit of polish for me, but that may be your desired style ! Great job !

Developer

Thank you for the kind words!

Yeah it ended up in a non-complete state because I didn't have as much time as I originally planned. But I'm glad you liked the idea :)

I liked it! I liked that the attacks had knockback. Kiting the enemies in the last room was a bit hectic because I got myself surrounded, but I pulled through. Good stuff!

Developer

Thank you for the nice feedback!

Glad to hear you found challenge in the game. The last room is pretty easy if you pull carefully and kite haha, but I respect your approach :D

Cute little game :) Considering you didn't have as much time as you wanted, this was still a fun little game to play through. From a first time game jammer to another - job well done! You should be proud of yourself :D

Developer

Thanks for playing my game, appreciate it!

Yeah it ended up pretty bare bones but I'm still satisfied that I managed to submit a game for this jam :)

Lets keep working on games!

Nice game, at first I thought wow this is hard because I didn't read the controls on the page and thought there was dash and move only. Then I revisited the page and discovered that mouse can be used for attack. It made things much easier. This felt like a keyboard controls only game at first and maybe mapping the attack to the directional keys with a bigger cooldown would increase the difficulty a bit and still keeping the retro touch :)
Good job in delivering this

Developer

Thanks for playing my game!

Yeah its pretty hard without using mouse haha.  I did consider doing directional attacks, but the implementation was more complicated so I just opted to just get the cursor position. I also kinda dislike games where you can't move away and attack at the same time, but that's just a matter of taste. But yeah something like that with limiting the attacks would actually make the game more fun I think.

Thanks!

Hey Niku, fun little game! I died in the last room in my first play through, but i was able to save the world on the second attempt. This was my first game jam as well, hope you enjoyed the process as much as i did.

Developer

Thank you for playing! I did have a lot of fun making this game!

I was worried the game might be too easy, but that may be because I know all the ranges and mechanics. But nice to hear it wasn't a total cakewalk.

You guys did really well for your first time I think!
