I really enjoyed this game! The concept is engaging, though I struggled to get past level 2.

The twist of initially making the player think it's the classic Chrome Dino Runner and then revealing that it's something else entirely is clever and refreshing. It keeps the player intrigued and curious about what’s next.

I’m assuming the project involved combining two existing games. If that’s the case, I’d love to know what the other game is because the blends works seamlessly.

1. Ambience and Atmosphere:

- The sound of rain and the dim lighting create an immersive atmosphere and complement the game's tone well.

- I appreciate the absence of jump scares. This allows the game to build tension more subtly and lets the player focus on exploration and atmosphere rather than anticipating sudden shocks.

2. Sound Design:

- The door-opening SFX and swipping SFX when picking things up are a nice touch, but adding SFX for footsteps could further enhance the sense of presence. Footsteps would provide auditory feedback, helping the player feel more connected to the environment.

3. Exploration and Pacing:

- The pacing feels balanced, and the exploration aspect is engaging. However, it was a bit challenging to keep track of the rooms I had visited. Sure, the doors were open for the rooms I visited but they all look similar. Consider adding a simple map or markers to help players navigate.

4. Gameplay Actions:

- The crowbar mechanic for opening barricaded doors is satisfying and intuitive.

- Collecting items using the crosshair rather than the cursor took some time to figure out. A short tutorial or on-screen instruction could clarify this.

- The prompts for controls disappear too quickly. Adding a collapsible menu or a way to revisit instructions would improve accessibility.

- The number pad for the safe remains visible even after stepping away from the safe, which obstructed my view. It would be helpful if it disappeared when not in use.

- Unfortunately, I couldn’t progress upstairs because of the boulders blocking the path.

5. Visuals:

- The 3D models are impressive and seem custom-made. Great work on the details and polish!

6. Overall:

- 19 Blaine Avenue is an atmospheric and enjoyable game. While some mechanics and usability aspects could be improved, it’s a solid effort that showcases creativity and technical skill.

Duplicates is a 3D belt-scroll beat ‘em up.

  • It is a single player game with two levels.
  • It employs a vigilante crime fighting plot with the action taking place on city streets.
  • Before the game begins, you can choose between two main characters, each having their own attributes.
  • Use arrow keys to move, space bar to jump, z or x to attack, or c to defend.
  • Items such as weapons, health recovery items and items rewarding extra points can be picked up. Most of these items will be hidden inside of destroyable objects which stand out so that the player can notice them
  • The player goes through a level, one section at a time, defeating a group of enemies before advancing to the next section. I use a hand with a pointing finger icon to show when you can proceed.
  • Health gauges for both player and enemy characters are displayed.
  • The game is inspired by '90's 2D belt-scroll beat ‘em up games namely Final Fight (1989), Streets of Rage (1991) and Cadillacs and Dinosaurs (1993) but I wanted to put a 3D twist on it.

Thank you for playing. Must be a bug, I'll look into it.

Really enjoyed the game. Though I wasn't sure of the controls at the start. Maybe including the actions/controls pop-up at the start would really help.

Lovely game, I like the graphics and the music.

Thank you for playing and for the feedback

Nice concept but I have a small nitpick on the rotation. After rotating I couldn't tell which direction the player was facing and was gonna go. I suggest maybe adding a small sprite on it to show which direction it is facing.

Hey Connor, you did not attach any files for this project.

This is a fun and cute game, I enjoyed playing it.

Just found the code on the 'pit walls'. I guess I didn't look enough

Thank you

Thanks for the feedback!

Thank you for letting me know about the volume.

Well done!

Well done, the game did what it was supposed to do.

I didn't get anywhere. I just kept dying again and again at start, and the death effect was on screen for too long.

Its a shame because the screenshots look so good and I would have loved to play your game.

Cool concept. My little nitpick is that the camera movement is very slow and the dog's movement is fast, so at times I had wait for the camera to catch up with the dog which was a little bit frustrating. Also it would be nice to have a score display, lives display and checkpoints.

I had a fun time playing this game but I couldn't get past the point where I had to put the code into the computer. As @KunstSchmid mentioned, the code puzzle is too vague to solve.

Nice intro and visuals but I got confused a few times by the controls and what some of the things in the game did. It would be nice to have a tutorial to teach controls because once I fell down a pit, I didn't know what to do.

I agree with @Sicave. It would be nice to have controls in the game because once I fell down the pit, I didn't know what else to do.

Well done ✨

Good job Nigel, putting out fires is a good concept 👍

Nice ✨

Well done on the execution

P.S. I didn't reach the top 🤭

Nice work on the rules, the cards and the map, would like to play it someday 😀

Well done, I enjoyed playing it. I'm kind of sad that it is short (more levels please 🤭).

Awesome game!

The art assets are from Stardew Valley and Enter the Gungeon 😀
