I'll second Errol's statement. A massive thanks to Chris and to the sponsors.

Hi - Thanks for the feedback, it's always good as there are just so many interactions and it is hard to think of them all!

The X OVEN is in the game, I tested it this morning successfully.
X HOLE - Added today.
X LABEL - Added today.
USE CATAPULT - Added today.
KNOCK SHELF - Added today.
The milk quest - under review for a future version.

As for Sneezing, it is a random chance interaction that happens if you spend time in the location. SNEEZE isn't a command you can type in.

Hi, I've made a few minor modifications to deal with getting cold water. The process hasn't changed, just added some additional interactions in the places you think you might be able to get cold water.

Hi Dee, I decided to fix them anyway! They needed doing and were all very minor to sort.  Thanks.

I decided to spend a few minutes and correct the majority of the niggles that have been reported to me. Hopefully it plays a little better now!

Version 0.8.5 is available now.

Thank you for your kind feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I'll add your issues to my list, they are likely all really quick ones to fix. I'm not sure if I can fix and update in the judging phase but definitely will.

Not my bag I'm afraid.  I do have several ideas tucked away for future projects. I've got a rough design for one of which is set in quite a few British towns and cities with travel between them and several locations per town/city. Its going to be fairly massive and I'm dreading starting it. Its going to be an evade capture style where you can only spend so long in certain places before the hunters track you down. Think of the TV show 'Hunted' and you'll not be far off the mark.

My biggest problem is that I need a motivation to work on them. Life is a busy place for me and a game jam helps motivate me. I'm going to stick to entering now and again with mini adventures.

Thanks Erroll, I think your entry looks stunning and your use of graphic overlays is amazing. Its got me wishing that I'd used them in mine. I'm definitely going to incorporate them into my next adventure.

Thank you, glad you like the retro style.

I'm looking forward to giving your submission a go over the Christmas period.

Thanks Christopher for your constructive feedback.

I've made a few minor changes based on your feedback and quickly resolved some of the minor interactions. I apologise if the odd diversion from the main quest by the use of red herrings affected your experience. There are a number of them in the game and the intention was to add some 'tongue in cheek' humour into the game. Originally I was going to implement a scoring system where 60% of it was generated by the quest and the remaining 40% would be based on these comedy interactions, but I personally find scoring systems a bit annoying. On this basis I decided to leave it out.

Thank you to you and your daughter. I'm really pleased that you both enjoyed it.

Thanks Rich.  I found the play-through very enlightening. It is really good to see how other brains work and spot the useful missing interactions.

Hmmm, I'm not sure what you mean. all the images we done in Windows Paint. I don't think it is capable is it?

Noted for the next (inevitable) build!

I love the concept and never even considered this style of game using Adventuron. The graphics are superb!

I am really struggling to understand the bus map. I suspect it is really easy and I'm being a bit thick!

I love this style of graphics, I wish I could be half as good. I'm looking forward to playing this one!

Some minor changes made this afternoon.

  1. About 50 spelling mistakes sorted
  2. I've resolved the key thing, had too much going on. Its now simplified.
  3. Reindeer issue also resolved
  4. Fishing hole logic updated
  5. Addressed concerns raised about number of objects that appear after use of Examine command. More obvious ones made visible.

New version now available.

Thanks Chris. I've had a read and spotted a couple of niggles that are easily resolved.

I see you got stuck, does that indicate an issue, lack of clarity or something else?

I maybe didn't do as much as I could have. I've fixed everything I've found. Users are great for finding the rest!

2 word maximum for me!

I think I might be done !

(Other than the hundreds of bugs players will find that I cannot)

Now to try and figure out how to actually submit it to the jam!

They have really been a challenge for me!

Hello, Welcome and Good Luck!

My kitchen got a redesign... It is a lot better now. I'm sure the artists among you could improve it but I am at my create limit!

My mini quest is set at the North Pole - coincidentally at Mr. and Mrs. Claus' home... and you are an Elf....

That feels a tad Christmassy to me!

Thanks. I knew it wasn't perfect but I'm no artist. I might fix it if there is time, but I've got 11 others to produce and I'm finding them the most stressful part of the jam.

Nice one - thank you. Good luck!

Haha that would be nice. May be possible but I'm already having to make people suffer a graphic location. I dont want to uspset them even more!

I'm not going to make any promises!

I've had a go at my first graphics... They feel to me a bit Subsunk / Seabase Delta esk to me...

The jam started today. Did you start to code before the start date or did you wait until today like me to start?

How far have you got so far?

What challenges have you hit with Adventuron?

Don't get your hopes up... They will be pretty terrible!

(I'm getting this out there now so I don't get judged to harshly on them!)

Coding starts today for me.
 - 12 locations in total.
 - A defined Christmas mission.
 - An odd 'Easter Egg' hidden away.
 - Location graphics - mostly looking like they were drawn by a drunken, crayon holding muppet (me!)
 - A cute baby reindeer!

Good to have you aboard!

Thanks Chris, I was keeping Dinosaur Island a secret!

Although I have used Adventuron in the past, I am still a novice in the world of IF. Hopefully I've learnt from my creation of Dinosaur Island and can improve on it in my latest adventure 'A Christmas Quest'.
Watch this space... I may even get it finished and submitted!

I'm Richard and I've followed these adventure jams since they started. I've always promised myself that I'd have a go at one, this is my first one (but not my first Adventuron adventure)!

I have a map, and a plot already. I've decided to go hardcore and not start coding until the Jam actually starts. It's going to be a tough one for me on a graphics level, I struggle to draw a straight line!!! I'll get my apologies in now for the childlike images, even though Chris has already tried to set me on the vector graphics path (sorry Chris but I'm embracing my inner crayon holding child).

I've drawn a map, designed 3 puzzles. Minimal coding as of yet.

I used exactly this in Dino Island. Basically when at a certain location. Drop object, if present chasm, destroy dropped item. set flag to true. When in cave under chasm and flag is true, create the item and set flag to false.

I only allowed certain items to fit in the small chasm so coding it was easier.   All other items remained in the location when dropped.

Hi I'm Richard. I'm a seasoned adventurer from back in the 80's. This isn't my first adventure rodeo but it did take me 30 years to get my first adventure into the real world. The prospect of getting one out in 3 weeks will be a huge challenge for me!
