I really like the mechanics in this game, and the visuals and small cutscenes have great gameboy soul! What did you use to make it?

At least the cats keep their revenge family-friendly 😆

Glad you liked the game, thanks for playing!

I particularly like the 2nd minigame, pretty simple but very fun mechanic!

Interesting concept and very nicely polished! Great art, animations and music. Nice work!

LOLL I love this. Really creative. Also thanks for using Soraboy, the music is catchy!

This game was all-round lovely. It packs in a lot of different gameplay mechanics for a jam game too! The resolution seems to be not quite right for gameboy, but other than that I think it had great gameboy soul. Amazing work!

This is such a cool lil demo! Really well polished, and the concept is brilliant. It is a shame there is no sound, but I am looking forward to playing the full game when it's ready.

Really love the soundtrack! The art style is nice too, but it can be a bit overwhelming to look at for me. Also, if there was a bit more of a clear goal or way to lose, I think it could also make it more fun too. But still nice work!

This game's art, music, and gameplay is all really great! And the monsters are spooky too. Great work!

Really great atmosphere and genuinely spooky! I was happy when I realised I could walk faster on the subsequent playthroughs. I haven't been able to figure out how to get the "sleep" ending yet but I got the other ones.

Wow. This game gave me chills. Really well made all-round. Amazing work! Also, those initial food drawings looked really tasty.

Thank you so much, glad you like it! :D

Thank you so much! Shout out to the artist Bluchu for the great work on the page design :D

Thank you so much! ZGB is a cool framework and I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in programming gameboy roms

Thanks a lot! The mechanics were actually inspired by Ghostbusters II for the Gameboy, although we made some adjustments. They had the friendy AI character doing the "grabbing" part, but I thought that was a bit frustrating sometimes since you can't directly control the movement of that character. Still it's a fun game though so I would recommend it if you like these mechanics!

Thank you!

Really great art and gameplay. I like the concept and dialogue too. I tried the 2nd boss many times even after reloading my save, and it doesn't seem to work for me. Also, when I first reload my save there are bars on the left and top side of the screen, but it goes back to normal if I die once.

Thank you, glad you liked it!

Thank you for sharing :D

So cool this was made with GBDK!! I only have experience with ZGB  so far and I can appreciate the extra work that would be needed without an engine. I really love the art and animated characters! The story is funny too.  Great work!

Thank you! I'm really glad you liked the music. I knew I didn't have time to come up with complicated melodies so I kept the notes simple but tried to use interesting sounds instead.

Previously I've used a javascript emulator so I can submit a web version aswell as the rom.

I used this emulator: https://github.com/chrismaltby/gb-studio/tree/develop/appData/js-emulator (seems like fork of https://github.com/taisel/GameBoy-Online )

Sorry for the delay on this. It's just that I needed a mac to build for mac. I have just ordered one and I'm going to try port Soraboy over in the near future.  Assuming that goes smoothly, it shouldn't be too much longer :)

Thanks for the feedback! I will consider these things if I make more updates or a new plugin.

Nice! I could see it as a bgm for a pixel art game. Glad you like the plugin :)

Hi lvl1wizard, I am sorry you are having this issue! I have never seen this happen before in the released version, but I have a feeling it could be a bug that occurs when running at a lower framerate (it looks like pixel has moved too far forward and now the player cant move to the correct position). When I have time I will try to fix this, but in the meantime are you able to try playing on a different PC? Since this is the first time this issue has been reported, I think there is a good chance it will work on a different PC. There is only a browser version uploaded, so I am not sure why the itchio desktop app gives an option to install it.. 😅

I haven’t played the original but this is really fun!

Thanks for playing! :D

Thank you for playing and thanks so much for the feedback!

I sort of ran out of time and didn’t really spend any time balancing the audio levels, that’s definitely something I will keep in mind for the next game.

The marker is a great idea! If I expand on this game I will definitely try that out for sure.

Thanks so much for playing the game and giving detailed feedback! I was busy so I couldn’t properly watch the stream but I checked in for a moment and saw you got the hat! Nice one 😎

To address some of the issues: the mouse not locking after closing the shop really bothered me too and I tried basically everything to try and fix it, but it seems to be a limitation in Unreal Engine WebGL builds (the issue doesn’t happen on Windows, but I wanted to prioritise doing a WebGL build for now since that’s easiest for jam participants to play). I think if I do a post jam update I will do a build for Windows.

And you’re right, the wolf AI can be pretty janky for sure! 😆 Sorry about that.

As for the audio issue, this is something I hadn’t really thought about, so thank you for pointing that out! Next time I will set it lower and maybe include some control to set the volume level like other games in this jam did.

I really love the music! And the pixel cat :D fun game

Thanks for the fix!! I played it again and it works well! Now I can make way more trots :D

Although, I think I may have found another bug? Sometimes when I sell 1 trot it seems to count as 2 trots on the same request :O Unless I was mistaken…

This is a solid prototype and it’s really impressive it was made with no engine! Really love the concept of rotating the maze to collect the stars and dodge obstables. Would be cool to see the player controls improved and also more mechanics introduced in future levels!

The art in this game is so damn cute!! And the upgrade cards are a really cool idea. Would be cool to see this be turned into a bigger game with more things to do.

Although, I’m pretty sure using the FF8 soundtrack is against the jam rules…

Really fun idea and cute pixel art!! Would be nice if there was some nice bleep bloop music to go with it

Fun concept and nice visuals but going all the way back to level 1 every time is too much for me, but I guess it is a rage game it did make me rage so good job! :D

Fun game and the bug art is nice! I like how there’s a highscore table :D

I really love the art in this game!!! And interesting gameplay too

Thanks, glad you liked it! Ah yeah, to be honest there may be some balancing issues as the game really only all came together a couple days before the deadline. In my opinion, if you got the hat, you’ve basically beaten the game since its the most expensive upgrade (and is so cool) 😆

Ah yes I think I had all of those come up in the game I played! I remember seeing one I think was called Bountiful Harvest and was like yooo its Pot of Greed haha. I like how those concepts were translated into the farming theme, but also I liked how new concepts were introduced like growing the seeds :)
