How does your game meet GBJam's theme?
I tried to make a spooky horror game using GB Studio. You're a babysitter trying to babysit the baby and do chores around the house when a demonic entity breaks into the house in the middle of the night and hunts you, or rather, the baby.

The gameplay starts off simple but gets more intense and spooky the further you play, which creates a fun experience. The visuals are detailed while sticking to the Gameboy aesthetic and colour palette, which is nice. The audio is good to listen to and fits into the game's atmosphere very well.
Overall, solid game 👍
Thanks for the nice comment! I am happy you enjoyed it :)
This was really fun, I have to play it again to try get the good ending! Good job!
Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
Interesting game. Unfortunately it is easy to get stuck between the baby and things, especially when it's crying and it doesn't move away anymore. As you don't seem to be able to drop (at least some) things you're carrying, you're stuck and need to restart.
The music is a tad annoying after a while, but the change to silence certainly adds to the suspense.
The sprites look great and authentic for gameboy games. The color palette is also well chosen.
Thanks for playing!
Yeah, the next thing on my plate after jam voting ends is to add the ability to drop any item as well as fine-tune the colliders.
Making a great jumpscare on the Gameboy is really difficult. I was genuinely scared. The color palette choice, using yellow and red, is gorgeous. The theme is perfect. Honestly, keep developing this game. You made it in GB Studio, right? If you manage to release it as a real retro Gameboy game, it could be a success. The graphics are beautiful; it reminded me of Earthbound.
Excellent game!
Thanks for the kind words and thanks for playing!
That was fun! Good job!
Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
I've never been a great baby-sitter for other people's kids, only 35 out of 45 dollars. Also, the long dead mom even said I wasn't doing a great job. I need to play through this a few more times to check out how to get the other endings! I may have missed a few spooky clues to what was happening due to the high-pitched music which I needed to turn down, but the premise is excellent. Good job and I'm looking forward to more.
Thank you for playing! I'm glad you liked it :)
The true horror was assuming how to do someone's laundry for them!
That was cool! The art and concept is charming, and the execution is quite proficient! The pickup mechanics are competent in the first half, and they made the second half quite tense and unnerving!
Fantastic! Great work!
Congrats on making most of the money! >:)
I'm happy you had fun! Thanks for playing
Engaging!
The audible speaking from the ghost is cool!
Doing the house tasks while knowing there's a ghost around makes me feel very productive! Multitasking, ha ha!
Thanks for playing! :)
I liked this, very spooky indeed! the slow build of tension and environmental story telling were well done :)
Thanks for playing! I'm happy you enjoyed it :)
Ok, this one actually creeped me out. Really creeped me out.
The buildup of tension, the way it goes from environmental clues that something is not quite right to survival horror as the convincingly 90s music, crafted to lull you into a false sense of security, just stops dead in its tracks is brilliant. Very well done. Achieved without jumpscares, too. She's just REALLY CREEPY to look at, but at no point you're just flashed with a jumpscare.
The presentation is on point for the gameboy, and this is doubtlessly aided by its being a gbstudio game. I especially liked that there was care to make everything look period-accurate. You're not browsing emails, you're reading diaries. The house isn't too modern, it's furnished like an older home. Our protagonist is dressed in a retro way. It really just feels like something that could've been made back then, and specifically for the Gameboy at that. Good eye for detail there, it greatly helps immerse the player.
All in all, a great, ambitious offering.
Thank you so much for the kind words! When I started working on this for the jam, I had decided early to not include any loud, flashy, egregious jumpscares because I myself don't really like being jumpscared. I am glad that my efforts were noticed and appreciated :')
I'm happy you enjoyed it and thanks for playing!
Insanely good! The GameBoy feel is on point, and the babysitting objective makes the game interesting and engaging.
Thanks for the kind words :') and thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it
Cool idea to keep the player occupied with the baby, the music itself was a bit annoying but when I triggered the spooky event the silence was genuinly scary.
I would've earned 47 out of a possible $45.
Thank you for playing!
Good job makin all that money! (Also yeah I need to fix that max "possible $value" that is displayed) ^-^"
I like the gameplay to keep the baby with us in each room ! Good story telling :)
the surprising "where is my baby" sound made me laught a lot ! Good entry !
I'm glad you had a good time! Thank you for playing!
Ooh, that was fun. Definitely spooky!! Great job, you nailed that horror vibe well.
I'm glad you enjoyed! Thank you for playing!
This was a fantastic experience, I was genuinely spooked. Silencing the music was very effective. Great job!
Thank you very much! :') I'm happy you enjoyed it
Great horror there! Literally out of this world, nice game!
I'm glad! Thank you for playing!
Great idea and story. The music gets a bit on the nerves after 1-2 minutes :-) I like the art style and I was certainly scared by the “thing”.
Thanks for playing!
It was my first time composing music, so I still got a lot to learn.
Honestly, terrifying.
Thank you for playing!
Absolutely nailed it. I honestly good quite scared by it!
Thanks for playing! :)
SPOOKY! Perfect timing, it got me doing chores and reading all those creepy descriptions when "it" happened haha. Very (very) good one, 5 out of 5 gb feel to it and I love the way the player casually ranks up until the horror comes lol
I'm happy you enjoyed it, thanks for playing! I put a lot of effort in trying to make it feel like a GameBoy game, so I'm happy you feel it.
