Glad you had fun! The sound design was done by Morgvn and it really did turn out great.

Glad you liked it! I enjoyed your entry as well, I liked the confusing geometry. My inspiration for the visuals largely came from games like Cruelty Squad and Ultrakill. For both modeling and texturing i roughly follow the limitations of the ps1.
Textures no bigger than 256x256, usually around 128x128. I use images sourced from the internet and cut them up and lower its resolution. There’s lots of free texture websites online. You can also source from your own pictures you take. The quality doesn’t need to be very good since you’re lowering it anyway. As for the crunchiness and colors i heavily edited these images in Krita before lowering the resolution. Changing the color balance, burn, contrast, kinda just doing whatever that made it super crunchy looking.
For modeling similarly i try to keep the poly count low, it’s generally a rule of thumb and not a hardline rule, I'm not too concerned with what could actually run on a ps1. No model here has more than 1,400~ tris though i don’t have the actual count in front of me currently. Limiting yourself here forced you to adopt the mindset of those modeling for the ps1. It can also be helpful to study models from actual ps1 games and see how they’re constructed. There’s lots of sites online with ripped game models to study.
And last i just have a simple psx shader, and on body parts i enable vertex wobble in the shader where otherwise it’s disabled.
Its mostly learned from PSX tutorials and stuff so if you like the look start there. It’s obviously a bit more involved than i was able to explain here but that’s the general mindset and process.
I was able to get it working and posted another comment explaining it.
I really like this entry! Now that i was able to actually play it I'll share my thoughts. Like I said before the art and sounds are awesome. The player character is super cute(I loved the little sleeping animation when you go idle, a cute little touch) and the other characters are very charming. The environment art is also very good and felt very high quality. The music at the end really matched the vibe and made the ending satisfying. Though I think the game could have benefited from a little bit more ambience in the general areas.
As for the gameplay the movement feels quite good. My only complaint would be that it feels a bit too slippery at times. Stopping from running and landing makes you slide a pretty considerable distance, that combined with tight platforming makes it kinda difficult and not as intuitive. The rest feels very nice though, nice weight to it, wall jumping feels good the ledge grab is a nice touch. The intro puzzle was fun and interesting but largely felt pretty disconnected from the latter half of the game, it felt like the intro could have been cut and I wouldn't have really noticed. I don't know how important the glowsticks are to the gameplay but unfortunately I wasn't able to pick them up, I was able to interact and get the animation but I never received any.
I found just getting lost in the caves to be quite fun though, and definitely helped hit that liminal vibe I felt you were going for. A bit of extra ambience for that part of the game would help the vibe hit very well in my opinion. I was surprised by the sheer number of rooms in this, despite it being a jam game.
Overall I really enjoyed this entry and I think you should all be very proud of what you made here. Lots of potential both in this project and this group. I hope you keep making things. <3
[FOR ANYONE WONDERING HOW TO FIX THE GAME NOT DISPLAYING CORRECTLY ON WINDOWS]
RIght Click on the application and make a new shortcut.
Then Right Click on the shortcut and go to Properties.
Under Properties go to the "Shortcut" tab, you should see a dropdown menu called "Run". Simply change if from "Normal Window" to "Maximized".
Then just run the shortcut. This makes the game open in fullscreen mode and fixed the problem for me, hope this helps.
This game looks really promising! I wasn't able to play much because I was having the same issue other have reported, if I had to guess I'd say the export resolution is probably something higher than 1080p and its not set to scale to other resolutions? Regardless, from what i could see the art and sound design is really solid and I'd love to play a fixed version. The runner of the jam said patches are allowed so I'd love to see an updated version with this issue fixed so I could give a proper review. Lots of potential here tho seriously, keep at it. (Also based ur based for using godot)
You cooked I fear. This is such a banger honestly, the environments are really awesome and the camera effects are really good at setting the tone. My only complaint would be that the shakiness of the camera was a tad bit much at times, which is a shame because it makes it harder to see the cool environments. I really liked the early and later areas of the game and felt they were the strongest, seeing the more traditional backrooms stuff in an otherwise really unique setting took me out of it a bit. However even those environments were done really well (I especially like the part where you look up and see the underwater effect of the pool). Mostly personal preference on my part. The pictures that appear are really awesome, I didn't really get it at first but it grew on me really quickly (it might be cool to have a way to see them on their own maybe after beating the game?). Overall loved it and happy to see you'll be continuing the project because there's tons of potential here.
You absolutely won me over with the intro. This is actually one of my favorite games in the jam and I think it deserves way more attention! The gameplay is a little bit clunky, but I appreciate the depth of different spells and moves you get. The art style is awesome and the character designs are AMAZING!!! This game has so much charm and character to it I love it!
