Good call! Thanks for the feedback.

He is supposed to be a horse! >.>

Rated! Nice work. :)

Played it! Great submission. :)

It's delightful! I never knew how satisfying it would be to be a bad kitty.

That's a good point. I would definitely keep that in mind in the future. Thanks!

Just checked it out. Nice work!

This game feels very tranquil right out the gate. Although, as more mechanics came in and it become more challenging, I found it less relaxing. I think that it could make for a great zen mobile game if you strip it back to that tranquil place. And if nobody else has made this joke yet, I will. It's very... buggy?

Also just an FYI, your game doesn't run in the Itch app. You have to disable compression settings in the Web GL player project settings in Unity to fix this. Something to keep in mind for your next jam! :)

The main character is strong but I don't know how well they fit into the world. I would like to see more character animations to give it more juice and feel.

I'll check it out now!

Game doesn't seem to launch for me using the Itch app. :(

I'll go try yours now. :)

Henlo fellow game jammers. Let's trade game rates!

Mine is called Horse Course: Rate Horse Course by TerraVito for Wowie Jam 4.0 - itch.io

Comment yours below and I'll give you a rate as well.! :D

I like the visual style, but gave up due to frustration pretty early on. Getting the AI where you need it to be and then landing the jump properly is difficult, and then getting sent back to the checkpoint to work your way back up was not a satisfying game loop for me. That being said, I did admire the art and sound, and the idea is fresh.

I'm in awe. What an incredible game. All around 5 stars for me. It's brilliantly crafted. What I am most impressed by is the seamless blend of logic-based puzzle solving with platforming challenge. This is truly inspirational. Thank you for this!

I almost called my game Four Door Horse Force Course but thought that was too much so I settled on just Horse Course. https://itch.io/jam/wowie-jam-4/rate/1663676

So a horse walks into a bar and orders a stiff drink. The bartender goes, "why the long face?" The horse replies, "my wife left me," as he motions across the bar to another horse wearing a shirt that says "Looking For A Ride?"

I love the visuals in this. The use of lighting sets such a nice atmosphere and vibe. That being said, I wish that the field of view was larger so that I could see more of the play area and also take in more of the visuals.

The game is not intuitive. I think that some work could have been done to teach the player the main mechanic before you start. Also there is a very frenetic quality to the game with the driving bass and shaking camera. I think that is maybe what you were going for, but for my taste I would have dialed that down a bit. It can be a little off-putting,

Overall, it's a beautiful looking game with solid vibes. 5 stars from me on visuals. But I couldn't really sink into the mechanics, so I didn't play it very long at all.

Omw to check out yours now!

This was awesome. It took me a minute to notice the J and L on the floor but once I did the experience was really elevated from what I thought was a simple 2D game with an interesting take on the theme to a really unique and driving experience. The music and visuals were really well done.

Thanks for your feedback! I found that bug as well where you can slide into the level geometry, but couldn't eliminate it. It does make for some funny situations.

It is a very well-crafted game. You can tell how much attention you gave to the details of movement, UI, graphics, and sound. And they all came out wonderfully.

I do feel that the overall complexity was a bit off=putting. I think that the pacing of introducing commands could have flowed better. Also, it may have been more thematic if you had less control over the AI. That may have lent more toward feeling like  a collaboration.

Overall great work!

Nice work!

This was neat. The old man and his robot pal is a very cute and unique take on the theme. I enjoyed the gameplay and how it varied with your upgrade selection. I thought that more could have been done to teach the player how to play early on as it took me a minute to get the hang of it. Also the difficulty curve was a little sharp. Great job!

Nice game. I gave it a review and a comment.

It was fun and an interesting twist on the twin stick shooter genre. The aesthetic didn't do much for me though.

Thank you SO much for all of that feedback. This is my second time ever doing a jam / building a project, so I appreciate feedback like this immensely. Those are all really great points as well. Thank you!

(1 edit)

Hey thanks so much for your feedback!! I'm glad you liked the idea, and I agree the control needs more consideration and time put into it for sure.

Thank you so much!!! It's my first time putting something out there so that means a lot to me.

Ah, yeah. I thought this was going to be an issue for some folks. I made the camera pan down a little bit to help with that after you've been in the air for some time, but maybe it should zoom out more?

Oh, that's odd... Yeah I loaded it up a second time to confirm there was no music. I did hear the sound effects so it must have been a bug.

This was wonderful. Increasing the complexity with the combining of various dice as you progress keeps you coming back for more each round.

Dude, this game slaps. Super well done, and dare I say there is great potential to develop this concept further?

I loved this. The controls feel so smooth and the presentation is wonderful!

Well done! The concept, mechanics, and visuals are all tight and well crafted. The only piece I felt was missing was some music to go along with everything. Great work though.

It's a neat concept! I found the mechanics a bit counter-intuitive at first. But once I figured it out, the interplay between drawing cards and rolling dice made for a nice bit of decision-making.

I have also done a comment on this game. 8/9

You're totally spot on. I knew it was going to be very difficult because the control is a bit wonky. Thanks for your feedback!
