Thank you for the feedback! I agree with everything you say. My writing and characters can be generic, and I need to improve my writing. As for endings, you are right on point, due to the deadline I didn’t have time to create a branching story 😅.

Nice storytelling! The visuals reminded me of children’s books, everything felt alive. Also the dynamic music was nicely implemented as well!

The timer was a bit on the longer side and the music was quite repetitive, but otherwise, it was a fun little space adventure.

The game mechanics are pretty interesting. The visuals are also pretty well made!

This looks fun! However, UE games on Linux with Proton don’t quite work well. So I won’t be able to rate it 😞

Reminds me of the old Flash game era, the UI design, the art style, and even the music. Well done!

Thank you for playing!

Really liked the character and the monster’s designs! Just the right amount of abstract/surreal writing as well. Great job! Oh also, is the window background drawn traditionally?

Thank you! I am glad that I took the time to clean the code up a little bit before submitting the game 😆.

Thank you for playing the game! I did initially plan on having to unravel what the device is about, but couldn’t come up with a good storyline for that part so I ended up scrapping that idea. Surprisingly I managed to complete everything a day before the jam ended. I guess having a schedule worked wonders in the end lol.

Firstly, I’m not a font expert. My main problem with the font was mostly inconsistent spacing between letters, which made it look a bit messy and harder to read each word. I also think that the font has too much going on, as in it was visually overwhelming I guess. I don’t know what might be causing that but my assumption would be the resolution of the font. I understand you’re going for a pixel art style, and a smaller font works for things like name tags. But for areas with a lot of text, it can cause straining after a while. Oh, also the shadow behind the font might be a bit too much, a flatter look might be better, but you probably need to experiment on what works best. I would suggest you search for “pixel art visual novel fonts” or something similar and look at some example screenshots from other games to get a reference on how they handle their font.

Such amazing storytelling! Also, the use of color schemes on the characters was on point. My only nitpick would be the font choice, it was a bit of a chore to read considering the length of the visual novel, but otherwise great job!

Oddly cute visual novel. Gonna miss the ball of flesh Portobello.

Thank you for the kind words, means a lot! I am not that used to drawing male characters, but I am glad that you like his design the most.

Haha, I was planning on having a good ending but couldn’t come up with an idea on how to do it. So I ended up with mostly bad endings. Anyway, thank you for trying out my game!

What a fever dream, I have no idea what happened but it was a fun experience! Great job creating such a unique and unsettling atmosphere!

Well made! Looking forward to the upcoming chapter! My only suggestion would be to add sound effects and background music in the upcoming versions to make it more immersive.

Thanks for playing it!

The art is stunning! Well done for 14 days! Sadly, I didn’t have any audio during gameplay, but I am not sure if that’s because I was running it on Linux with a compatibility layer. The attacks on the characters felt rather unbalanced, which led me to rely on Tear only. Overall, though, I had a lot of fun playing it!

Heres my visual novel if you are interested Fractured Divergence. It is a bit on the longer side.

I believe I already have your game downloaded, and will check it out tomorrow morning.

Here’s my VN entry if you are interested! Heads up it is a bit on the longer side. Fractured Divergence

It was probably because I played your game when it only had 2 Chapters. So I assumed controls were the same as before, and didn’t reread the control scheme.

I learned about the mouse controls after I finished it lol.

I understand that visual novels might not appeal to everyone. But I’m glad that you still gave it a try!

Pretty nice story and cutscenes. The way you expressed emotions with just cubes is great. The control scheme is a bit messy near the end but managed to finish it nonetheless. Had fun playing it!

The tonal shift was unexpected but also welcome! Everything from the sprites to the audio design captures the retro game aesthetic really well.

Yeah, the game is a bit on the longer side, but thank you for playing nonetheless!

Thank you for playing the game! This was my first time drawing backgrounds, so I was a bit nervous about how they would turn out, but I am glad you liked them 😅.

The pixel art and the music are well done! But the abrupt ending was a bit unexpected.

The visuals are simple yet stunning, especially the ben-day dots look to the game. I would love to see more levels. Had fun playing!

Thank you for trying out my game and for the kind words! Regarding endings, the initial 4 can be achieved by messing with the device when prompted, but the remaining can be achieved if the device is ignored.

I would suggest Freesound, you can find plenty of CC0 sound effects.

The game is well done and really fun to play! But the fact that skeletons only appear from 2 locations made it pretty easy.

I was expecting something way creepier thanks to the art style, but I am not disappointed that it turned out to be something funny-esque instead. Also, the monster designs are pretty interesting 👍!

Aw damn, now that you mentioned Resident Evil, I realized I should’ve added the door transition. Thanks for playing and giving me a new idea!

Thank you for playing!

The game captures the aesthetics of old 8-bit games perfectly, in gameplay, art, and music! Although I am kinda bummed that movement has no point from what I played. Great work nevertheless!
