What do you like about your game?
I like the music :D basically the only reason i joined the jam was an excuse to make more music. But after experimenting with 7/8 time signatures for more of a feeling of aberration... I'm going back to 4/4 next time

Wow! I did all the four chapters with a great pleasure. Lot of smart ideas and you created a really nice music. At the moment, this is my favorite sub. Congrats!
Just a question as you wrote that you did not have the time to make the ending scene. But you submited your creation a week before the deadline. I am frustrated, I want to see your vision for this scene :)
Thanks! While I did submit a week before the deadline at first, that was when I just finished Chapter 0. After that, I just kept updating the game until the deadline. Lol there would have been no way for me to finish the whole game in under a week.
The plot for this story is completely unhinged (good thing). I was expecting a puzzle game based on your pre submission discord posts but what I got was a cube (canonically) RPG. I mean we laughed, we were sadge, what more could you ask for.
To be clear I liked the plot, I guess there is no way to take cubes SUPER seriously, but I enjoyed the dramatic overtones nevertheless. Oh and there is definitely 0 chance of guessing the plot of this game, so you have that going for you as well.
Realistically the platforming controls were probably the only way to make it playable and I just gotta accept that. I guess it was fine when you think really hard about sequential jumps.
Cube sweep fr. Anyways great release
Thanks! I made sure to follow the jam theme as closely as I could, with thematic aberration, chromatic aberration, etc. Cube sweep!
And yeah, the fixed distance cube mechanic would probably be better suited for more of a puzzle game, and I even got a few ideas on how to add more puzzle segments during development, but I had to trim the game down to its bare parts before even considering finishing by the end of the jam lmao
This is amazing!!! Everything about this game is perfect, from the visuals to the music to the overarching story; I have no idea how you managed to make all of this in such a short span of time. The levels are all well thought out, not too hard but not too simple, especially with the added challenge of controlling multiple cubes at once. It felt so satisfying to get them all to jump one at a time like a wave, running a finger across they keyboard felt so satisfying.
Your writing is not cringeworthy at all, I think it was the best part of the game; you made me feel a hell of a lot of emotion for a few little cubes, which I think is a testament to your skills as a storyteller. The music fit so well with the game too, although audio quality in the web version wasn’t great (I assume this is isolated to the web version; it didn’t take away from the experience though).
This is hand down one of the best games I’ve played during this jam, I cannot believe how good it is. I would not be suprised if it makes top 10, because in my eyes it deserves it :).
Thank you very much! My secret to finishing this game on time was that my university happened to have spring break that exact week during the middle of the jam, so I took that week off to utterly destroy my circadian rhythm working on this lmao.
And thanks for the complements on the story! I just feel like I could've done better, especially with one segment halfway through chapter 2 where i realized I had limited time to work on this game, so I just crammed all the exposition and explanations of absolutely everything into one rather lengthy scene. lol i requested that the judges evanmmo and duccw play cube friends on stream, and that exact section was what turned them against the game, so lets just say I'm definitely not making it into the top ten lmao
damn... i can't say i anticipated that xd.
this was absolutely incredible, i can't even imagine the amount of work that went towards making this game! there is just so much here, and all of it is incredibly polished! lets start with the gameplay, because the multi-character platforming mechanic is something fresh and different from other platformers that i played. it doesn't even feel like a gimmick, the idea feels well fleshed out and explored throughout the entirety of the game (different spacings, different directions, different character amounts). the platforming segments aren't easy but aren't too hard either on keyboard so thats nice. though adding accessibility option through the use of mouse is also a really nice touch, well done! though i'm curious if the coins served a function other than being a nice challenge collectible, regardless it was still fun!
the presentation is this game is also phenomenal! the visuals play around with a lot of fun ideas, every new area is unique and cool to look at, especially the final areas! the cutscenes and the animations (Hubert especially) go crazy, i was totally not expecting that!!! also the music is insane, each track was so pleasant to listen to and added to the tone of each level! im currently listening to chapter 3's BGM as i'm writing this, i really enjoyed listening to it when i first got to this part! the story shocked me the most. you wrote a complete journey and integrated it nicely into the game! there was never a dull moment in it and i felt engaged the entire time, well done!
i am floored, this is so impressive for a game that was made within the 2 week period, great work!
Thank you very much! I probably spent far more time bug fixing the game than doing anything else, even though I spent what probably amounted to a couple days on all the music lmao, so I'm glad my polishing efforts are appreciated, as well as that music that I may have spent more time than necessary on.
And as for the coins, I was considering adding a cosmetic shop where you could get different visual variations of the cube friends, but I basically ran out of time while making the boss fight. I even had to trim the fight down to its basic elements and rush an ending to get at least the story done in time for the end of the jam. At the moment, all getting the coins does is it changes the title screen background.
Wow... This is truly extraordinary work!
Perhaps even my new favourite. The ambient and narrative are cool, but the controls are something unimaginable.
I enjoy controlling each cube individually. It's very engaging and fluid.
Great job!
15/15
Thanks! I spent quite a while fine tuning the controls to get them just right. It was surprisingly hard to set up how to handle collisions and the mouse controls lol. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I really like the fun narrative and that you kinda get in the zone after a while, it's really satisfying when you don't get stuck and pace through the stages. I think it's pretty original and a fun little game :)
Thanks!
I'm so glad you went this hard with the narrative bro.
Thanks! I tried to make this as complete of an adventure as I could
This game is insanely well made. I loved the intro (the ace attorney music was a nice touch), the humor and story, the subtle lighting and shadows, the clever gameplay, even the animation was top notch honestly. With how fleshed out this is, it's honestly a bit hard to believe this was only made in 2 weeks. The mouse controls were also an awesome design choice.
Thanks! I tried my best, and happened to be on break for part of the jam so I got to spend quite a lot of time on this game lol
As for the intro music, the engine is called Godot so i just had to do it lmao. I'm glad somebody noticed and liked it.
real cool, the mouse controls are a game changer
Thanks! I wasn't sure about whether or not I'd have time for all the code for the mouse controls to work properly, but then I realized accessibility is probably more important for my game than final boss polish lol
Very well put together - I enjoyed that!
I love the concept of the three cubes together, I thought it might be really tricky to controller, but it was really intuitive - great job!
Thanks! I tried to make the controls as easy to use as I could, especially for the later levels lol
wow really felt like a complete story , i enjoyed swiping across the keys to avoid the boss attacks
Thanks! With the jam being so long I thought I might as well make a big story (at the cost of my sleep and sanity lmao), even if the final boss and ending were a little rushed lol. My main motivation for doing the whole thing was to get to the end where you could satisfyingly swipe across the keyboard against the final boss, so I'm glad you liked that part too :D
At first glance, it just looked like a cube game... But holy, that was an experience. A beautiful one, in fact. Except for the jumping sound. I hate the jumping sound. Other than that, this game is really well done.
Lmao. The theme is aberration, after all.
And thanks!

Lol, what a wild ride. The talking cubes remind me of Thomas Was Alone. The gameplay was simple but the levels were just complicated enough to keep the platforming engaging. I am a fan of odd time signatures as well (anyone else like prog rock?), but the 7/8 theme felt pretty natural to me -- I think some drums would have made it more obviously non-standard time signature, but the soundtrack fit the vibe overall. Nice work :)
Thanks! I'm so used to composing in 4/4 that the 7/8 time signature really stood out to me at first, but after a while I realized I didn't make it noticeable enough on its own. Unfortunately, I didn't really have time to go back for that lol
Pretty nice story and cutscenes. The way you expressed emotions with just cubes is great. The control scheme is a bit messy near the end but managed to finish it nonetheless. Had fun playing it!
Thanks! And yeah, near the end, the mouse controls are usually better than the keyboard ones unless you have a specific kind of keyboard and don't mind the noise lol.
I learned about the mouse controls after I finished it lol.
oh lmao oof i guess i still don't have enough pointing to the new mouse controls. I'm going to put a screenshot later specifically for that then lol
It was probably because I played your game when it only had 2 Chapters. So I assumed controls were the same as before, and didn’t reread the control scheme.
Yeah, lol I've been trying to add stuff about the mouse controls to try and catch the attention of early players from before I added the feature but so far i haven't done such a great job lmao
Nice idea for a game! I liked the music as well. Congrats
Thanks! And I basically made the music first and the game second lol
Really cool little game, unfortunately I couldn't seem to get all three of them jumping + moving at the same time working with my crappy cheap keyboard, too many inputs at once ig. Would have loved to finish it!
Actually, I've created mouse controls for people specifically with your issue. It took me a full day to implement without bugs because I can only get discrete mouse position data lol, and I guess I didn't really put much of it in the tutorial because of time constraints, but it's there.
Basically, to get them to jump with the mouse, you click down, and when the mouse passes the column with the cube in it, the cube jumps. So, you can click down and quickly swipe across the frame and if it detects that the mouse was on one side of the cubes on one frame and the other side of the cubes on the next, it makes sure all the cubes jump. There's a bit more to it than that but that's basically the gist of it and the rest should be rather intuitive.
ok now ive added a ton of stuff to the page and description to make sure people know about the mouse controls even though the game only kind of mentions it in really small text in parentheses in the tutorial (because i didnt have time left to draw a cursor and parent it to that hand icon. i basically finished basic cycle of the final boss right before the deadline) lol
I LOVE 7/8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
7/8 time signatures are nice when I hear them, but rn I think I just don't know how to properly compose with it lol
the key to composing with 7/8 is luck
i genuinely have no idea how i made my 7/8 tracks sound good but they just were
i really really really feel you. jams are totally just an excuse to make music.
