Hey, maybe the possibility to change the color of blocks in any color you want, like how you can change the color of your car.

You won't be able to choose any colors in the same way as the car, but there will a lot more colors to choose from.

Do you plan on open sourcing the code for modding purposes after finishing the game?

I've been thinking about open sourcing the game once I don't feel like working on it anymore, or when I feel like most of the ground work is done. I'm a bit worried about how it would affect cheating though

Spectator in replays is cool, but it would be better if you could change the progress of the replay with Q and E, so you can see the replay from a spectator point. Hope this makes sense.

At some point, I'll change the spectator camera so it doesn't lock the mouse so you'll still be able to use all UI elements as usual.

For now you can pause and unpause using space.

1 I assume you already know the car gets pulled towards it bottom but this also means if you hit the edge of a ramp and start spiraling away it will spin and float longer than usual.2 also with the road if your in a z you can clip the back tires and spin not a bug but still i wanted to mention it.3 also with the road you can hook tires on the side and drive sideways on two wheels

I've had this problem also. It occurs when (my laptop is touchscreen) so when i click somewhere, i cant use the mouse to click back until i press x, click and then i regain access with my mouse

A few suggestions

  1.   Make it so that the mountains (the green ones at the edges of the track) are harder to bug through. Right now, they are extremely simple to bug through. One jump and i go inside the mountain. It is also very hard to bug out (apparently some people like this, and i have also been aware that there is a speedrun category on this,  so removing it will be sad for some people, so maybe just the ability to toggle between hard mountains, i.e. make it harder to glitch thorough and soft mountains, i.e. the chance to glitch through is the same as it is right now)
  2.  It would be nice to have more surfaces, like the green grass we have right now, it behaves the same as tech. A new physics change for that would be nice (although it might break some maps)
  3. If possible, a community tracks section should be added, where tracks can be published, like an in-game library of tracks. Tracks can be pubished by pasting the export code inside the community tracks section and people can browse which tracks they want to play, like tmx. It would make the game more fun as if you dont have a track to play and dont want to hunt any of the other tracks, it gets boring.
  4.  There should be a feature where you can go to the last page of the leaderboard (so then i can see how long ppl took to finish the track) but since polytrack has leaderboard pages past the last record, it shld somehow default to the page of the last record. I have no idea on how it would be possible to implement this but it might be similiar to how the button where you can go to the page of your record works.
  5.  Respawnable checkpoints. I dont think flying respawns will be easy to implement so an easier way is to follow tmnf and make the car respawn at the checkpoint position with zero speed. I dont know much about game development but i do know that this might be a bit easier than most other things in the game
  6. I was reading previous posts and from a post a year ago, we need airbrake. The car physics right now make the car rotate a lot in the air, and an airbrake will solve that. I would see implementing airbrake as getting the rotation of the car and setting it to zero, though i dont rlly know how that would be possible. Also, from the last time i played this game (when Waseem held many wr and track 1 wr) the new physics change makes the car tilt forwards much more, most notably seen in track 4 at the big jump. (I also wanted to say that this is when i realised that the car's acceleration slowed down/ the brake got stronger). This makes it so that the airbrake becomes a bit more important. This also occurs in track one, causing a large amount of speedloss. Atleast for track 4, we can slow down, but for track one, slowing down isn't much of an option, but rather get a side-tilt (low jump) to make sure the car doesent rotate too much forwards. 
  7. Like the import tracks feature, it would be nice to have a import items feature so that you can import scenery made by others, which would automatically need a item editor. This would be a huge change so I dont think it might come out soon, but maybe on your to-do?
  8. For downward facing roads, like the road thats just after the start on track 9, can you make it more smoother because of the irregular bumps, the car's acceleration is slowed there, but turning at a very specific angle increases the car's acceleration (im not sure whether the physics update changed anything but it seems that turning slower or smth). Basically, is it possible to make it smoother, or keep the bumps to preserve how some tracks are played/ some records. (I hope you understood what i said)
  9. Have you considered volunteers that might wanna help you update the game? It would lower some stress off of you and we can also have a bit more frequential updates. This is entirely up to you. I also dont want you to pay people money to help you the game as i dont think polytrack makes much revenue for you to hire people, but like just volunteers who would want to help you with the game
  10. Turning while holding brake reduces speed less than just holding brake. This dosent make sense, since steering should also reduce the speed. It isn't a huge problem (i think) but i thought i just wanted to mention it.

hi, regarding the item 10, when you hold brake and turn, you start drifting and that means you get less grip meaning you slow down less

  1. The current mountains will probably be removed at some point, and replaced with another mountain system. The easiest solution would be to make it impossible to reach the mountains.
  2. Yes! I want to change the physics when driving on grass at some point!
  3. Some featured community tracks will be bundled with version 0.5.0. In the future I want to have a more dynamic track sharing system like you describe!
  4. I don't think going to the last page of the leaderboard is very useful, since almost all the runs there are fake.
  5. I'm working on respawnable checkpoints!

  7. Being able to import track parts would be interesting. I guess this would be some sort of official modding system. This isn't planned anytime soon though!
  8. The problem here isn't actually the bumpy surface, but the suspension of the car being too hard causing the car to lose grip. The problem is that the suspension needs to be hard enough to be able to handle the loops and jumps too. I don't have a solution for this problem currently.
  9. In the future, I would like the game to be open source, but managing something like that would also be quite a bit of work.

I keep getting a bug in this map that on some of my runs, after the drop down, sometimes the car will entirely stop accelerating even when i press w or s but i cant show it cuz i dont have enough speed to make the last jump. also another case is after this happens and it reaches 0 speed, the w button starts working but it has like a limit for acceleration and i only gained about 1km/h every 1 second or so. Every block is also constantly slightly moving up and down on my screen. This can be seen (at least in my screen) in my run.

This happens when tracks are built very very high up in the air. This causes floating point inaccuracies leading to these bugs.

There might be some ways to mitigate this, but I'm not sure it's worth the work.

the possibility to watch more than 1 ghost at the same time

a redo-button in the editor

the possibility to make a campaign but it is shown as one track so you don't need to download 25 tracks but there all downloaded at the same time.

An undo and redo button for the editor would be useful, but I thinking being able to copy paste in the editor is a priority for now.

When you are going straight and while in the air hit another block straight on, the car can shift to one side as shown in this map that can be completed by holding forwards:

It's a bug, but could still be kept, and wouldn't change too much in-game.

I got a bug where when i drove through the finish, it didn't count that i finished it even though there were no checkpoints in the map and i clearly went past it. it happened to me a few times over different maps but only sometimes and i wasn't lagging

yeah, i got this bug too, they say it might be becuse the car's angle causes it to pass though the hitbox before the finish is activated, idk

This is because of the tile based system.

I think it's probably better to restart fully since you'll most likely have to drive through the whole track anyways.

can you make the game available on chromebook when i try to play through crazy games i start a level and the stage doesnt load but the ui is there and shows units. Also if you do make a chrome version will it work even while using a proxy? I have to use one called croxy proxy to get to the websites my school blocked

As far as I know, the game should work fine on Chromebooks. If you can, please check if there any errors in the developer console in your browser!

Can you please add a way to practice parts towards the end of levels, for example having save states or being able to respawn at checkpoints? It's very frustrating being unable to practice the endings of 2 minute+ long levels

I'm working on adding the ability to respawn at checkpoints right now actually!

I'm just worried there might be some exploits, for example, respawning at a checkpoint just before a sharp turn.

An idea would be to add different kinds of starting blocks, like the different checkpoint blocks and finishes, and also if you could add larger checkpoint and finish blocks, like 3 wide, that would be very helpful when building parts of tracks with larger areas.

Wider starting blocks will probably come at some point, but I'd have to make some changes to get them to work properly.

I've been thinking about splitting the wider checkpoints and finishes into parts so you can make them as wide as you wish.

The physics changes almost every update, so press forward maps will never be stable.

Even if I reverted this particular change they would still not work.

I’ve noticed quite a few people wanting community tracks in the game and I have a few idea’s for how this could be done

1: After every update put the Hof tracks into the game separated from the official tracks

2: Use something like how replays are saved and have the track code in a server that is sent by internet along with an option to save the tracks to the computer(for the niche instance people are playing on a .Exe and don’t have internet connection). While the size of tracks would be bigger than that of the replays, you wouldn’t need many of them, so it shouldn’t take up tooooo much space in the servers

In the future I want to create a better track sharing system similar to what you describe.

I've implemented a fix for this in 0.5.0!

When you finish a track and the next you try the track you have a ghost car what if when you race against some else's ghost car you see theirs and yours. Idk if this will work cause of lag but maybe you can make it work.

A delete button so all your tracks get deleted at once (this would be amazing because my page is lagging for like 5 seconds to load all the levels and then 5 seconds to load a level).

But the track selection screen should be much faster in 0.5.0!

Suggestions:

1) Idk if this is just an error on my end but me and a few people I know all have the same error that doesn't load the leaderboard sometimes:

It says: "Error: Failed to load leaderboard"

2) Whenever I reload the site, the settings get reset. Whenever it gets reloaded, I am forced to change all the settings back to my preferences. It would make it much easier if settings kept

3) Adding checkpoint times to compare

4) (Optional) Would be cool to have standard tracks AND maybe a few seasonal tracks, doesn't have to be a lot, even like 4 would be really nice.

  1. This happens sometimes when the leaderboard server is having problems.
  2. This shouldn't happen. Your settings should be kept even when the page is reloaded. Does your tracks and records get reset as well? You could also check if there is an error in the DevTools console if you're able to!
  3. Coming at some point! Maybe even next update
  4. The next update will bundle some community tracks, so there should be some more tracks then!

When you drive parallel to a wall, the back wheel's texture (not hitbox) clips into the wall and it really gets to me. Either make the hitbox follow the back wheel shape or change the texture.

I'll see if I can do something about this, but the problem is that the hitbox can't be too wide or there will be problems when driving on wall ride slopes.

Make it so in the editor when you open a map, you spawn at the start of the track (if there is one), instead of 0, 0. This means I don't have to manually find the track if it is far away and I don't accidentally lose the ability to edit it because I can't find it.

  6. Add a In-game Currency
  7. Add a Servers on a PolyTrack (Better than Discord)
  8. Add a Multiplayer Game

My ideas / questions:

1) How would stunt mode work? I don't know if it would fit in too well with the physics but idk.

2) Painting your cars with images could be a cool idea as long as you cant just use any image bc otherwise the images could be something inappropriate/disturbing.

3) What would you be able to buy with the in-game currency? Skins for your vehicle? Also how would you get the currency? Could be interesting..

regarding #6, please no currency, thats where all the good games fail, once you add currency it's no longer just pure skill.

both on this map

so if you run into a normal tiny bump at high speed you sometimes go to space

and if you go through the finish too fast it doesn't register (didn't happen this run but in the test it happened idk why)

Kodub, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think since the car actually has areodynamics taken into account, we can say that the higher the speed of the car, the greater the downforce. Thus the suspension is squashed and your car rides literally 0.000001 pixels above the ground (an exaggeration). So the hitbox of the car's chassis hits the road piece before the wheel's suspension can lift the front end causing the car to take flight. (sorry if my explanation is hard to understand, i'm trying to improve it)

I've been thinking about limiting them to 99:59.999 though.

this already exists, go to settings and there should be a ghost car option

I think it would be cool to have replays with multiple cars. Idk about the coding and i reckon it would be difficult, but it would be really nice if we could race multiple ghosts and the replays would be benefical for videos too

 - Trees (Comes in different variations of density)

 - Boosts (Makes the car go faster when the car first touches it)
 - Magnets (Makes the car grippier on hills)
 - Icers (Makes the car less grippy)
 - IJustStoleYourEngineIfier (No more acceleration) - This would be a great id for it in the game code
 - Reset (Removes all current effects)
Editor Mechanics
 - Block Stacking (You can place multiple blocks in the same tile. This would require a new code format, but you could accomplish it with json arrays)
 - Settings (This would be custom settings you could change for your level, such as checkpoint respawns or multiple laps)
 - Start/End Block (Start and end at the same block)
Game Mechanics
 - Freecam unpausing (When you go into freecam, you should be able to unpause the game and just show your replay moving)

If you don't have the time to do these, I really want to code atleast some of the aesthetics into the game through mods or something. Is there an easy way to do that?

Also fire game. Me and my friends fought many wars to get this unblocked on our school computers. 

Regarding "Freecam unpausing," this is possible. Just click the spacebar, and your replay will start playing. (I've been playing around with this to attempt to create a cinematic video.)

  • There will be no green blocks, since I want to make a proper terrain editing system instead
  • Different surfaces aren't planned for now, but I have nothing against it in the future
  • Trees might come in 0.5.0
  • Boosts might come in 0.6.0 or 0.7.0
  • Magnets, ice and other effects are probably not coming anytime soon
  • Being able to place multiple track parts in the same spot is something I'm looking into for 0.5.0, but there are a lot of technical problems
  • Multiple laps might come in 0.6.0
  • A combined start/finish would come at the same time as the multilap update
  • In the future I want it to be possible to directly switch between watching the ghost and playing without having to return to the menu, and being able to unpause is already possible there

I'd like to see different times of day and course themes (like mountains, snow, ocean, maybe even volcano?) implemented into the game, since it would add some extra, easy to change elements that make tracks more interesting.

Gameplay wise, I've seen many requests for boosters which I think would be awesome for making jumps etc more consistent on easier tracks! Something that I would like as well would be start positions that could be placed on top of tracks (similar to Geometry Dash, if you've seen that) which could be all deleted with a single button press for easier playtesting.

Finally i'd also suggest trees and flower planters as nice decorations/obstacles to again spice up courses!

Love this game so it would be really cool to see my suggestions implemented! :3

Boosters might come in 0.6.0 or 0.7.0, but nothing is decided yet.

Being able to select a start position when testing the track in the editor is planned, but it's quite low priority for now.

So I have 1 request, by chance could you make it so that the obstacles, like ones that you would place in the middle of the road, can be placed more frequently without breaking other pieces? Like have 6 on one tile but place in separate areas? OH, and also 1 more, could you make it so then you can have a button that respawns you at last checkpoint/rewinding, like in trackmania. Of course the time would be total time of run, but you could still see theoretical time, if you were to drive the checkpoints perfectly.

This is a difficult problem to solve, since the pillars need to be slightly shorter to not go through the road and cause z-fighting on the underside.

I've been looking into a solution for this for a while though. Maybe I'll figure something out!

Sometimes you want to use the shadows with the build… 7 hours in you realized that you made the track 180 degrees off rotation… imagine if you could just change the position of the sun and thusly the shadows… that’d be nice(also could the clouds have shadows, I think that would be nice looking

How does the speed wall bug that you can do right after the first check point on map 3 work? I've been trying to figure it out.

I think its that they align the car perfectly so the flat side of the wheel hits the wall

Could you allow the ghost car to continue moving while in spectate mode, but then to reset to where it was when you entered spectator mode when you leave spectator mode.

When watching another ghost from the leaderboard it is possible to pause/unpause when using the spectate mode by pressing space.

It's not possible while playing though.

Oh I'm playing on my school computer and the leaderboards are completely broken because I'm using a proxy.

This might be a stretch because I don't really know how hard it is to program games but could you add some more sloped pieces like finishes, checkpoints, starts and maybe turns?

On this screenshot you can see the exitbutton, the cpcounter, the time and the speed while on the homepage. I know this isn't how it is supposed to look cause I've restarted my computer and now it doesn't show it anymore. I don't know what causes this but it is really irritating cause it keeps showing while playing. So you see a vague 00:00.000 time under your current time

I just wanted to say this because it may be easy to fix but I don't know.

I found this a while ago, you probably clicked multiple menus at the same time

i held down q (my spectator key) and the same thing happend, but it was alot more broken. i was stuck in the editor and could only test out my map and build it, if i tried to press the exit button to the editor it just didnt register.

When you import this track, then hit play, your screen fades to black and then nothing happens. You have to reload the page to get out of it. If you import this track into the editor all the menu buttons disappear. Kodub, I know a way that most people that fake runs are doing. I don't want to post it in here though because then more people will see. What do I do?

This is due to floating point inaccuracies. There is no plan to fix this currently

I am not really sure why, but no matter what I do, if I am on Crazygames or the official website or the downloaded version(what I play now), my leaderboards just look like this


It says: Error: Failed to load leaderboard. I have good internet so im not sure whats wrong and its really sad not being able to see other peoples times

I LOVE this game. The only thing for me right now is that there is no controller support which is kind of a bummer because controller just feels better IMO.

Edit: I get that it is difficult because of the replay system, but I feel like for now you could just try making it digital inputs instead of analog. So even if you tilt the stick a little bit it goes all the way to the side. You could also do it so depending on how far you tilt it it does it multiple times. So if you hold it a little bit it will press the stick periodically based on how far it's pushed. Sorry if that's confusing lol

The community seemed to be mostly against controller support in the past, since people worry it will give players using controllers an unfair advantage.

It might be possible to have separate leaderboards for keyboard/controller, but it'll be quite easy to cheat and submit a controller run to the keyboard leaderboard.

Wouldn't it just be a different play style, like in Trackmania people use keyboard/controler/joystick/steering wheel and they are all on the same leaderboards right?

Could you add a green Block? Like the black red blue and gray ones. it would be really helpful with scenery and maps look good.

A feature that wouldn't be too hard to add could be a signal that indicate the splits in the run. So it says how much faster you are in each checkpoint. So u can see haw far the ghost is behind. Like Trackmania. Also a feature where you can watch multiple Ghosts simultaneously so u can comprise different runs.

Very nice game but it would even be better if you add a feature where you can respawn on a checkpoint. Would make longer maps way more fun. Also you could make them even harder cause the people don't have to restart the whole track.

Cool Feature would be to add a different car. It could just be a skin but what also would be funny is a car that has different features. Like there is a checkpoint where you automatically switch to the car and now you are faster but you have less grip ore sth like that.

Hey Kodub, with the replays I was wondering if there was a way to watch more than one person at a time so you can see and compare other peoples lines to yours. Tell me if it already exists but if there isn't then do you think it is possible?
