Request for Help

Does the Online Leaderboard in the Game I just released work on your browser?

To check:

  • Simply launch my game - Defend the Earth II - click on the Leaderboard Tab on the start menu, and let me know in the comments below if it loads scores.
  • Optional: Play the game a bit and see if your Highscore Tag and Highest score save. Can either play until you complete the game, or click the Retire Button in the Settings menu

Game Description

The Aliens are back, and more mysterious than ever! Defend the Earth II is a 2D Space Shooter where your goal is protect the Earth from endless waves of evermore powerful Aliens. To help you overcome the challenge, you will Research new Technologies that improve your ship, allow you to build satellites, upgrade the Earth and more. To win the Game, research all technologies on the "Victory" Technology.

Defend the Earth II was originally made for Game Off 2024, a 30-day Game Jam. The theme was "Secrets"

Hey, i just tried this out. Leaderboard seems to work. Although it didn't show my actual position on the leaderboard, so i can't know for certain :D

Hey! Thanks for confirming that the Leaderboard displays correctly on your browser.

I've checked the backend - your score has been logged by the server correctly (#40th Position)

I played your game and everything makes me think leaderboard is working. My high score is 67.660, and as it dont how my position in leaderboard (i.e., your leaderboard finished at #10 but could how me if im the one hundrenth player with more score), im not very sure. Also, cool game, i found it pretty fun lol

Hi, thank you for making sure the leaderboard loads correctly. Glad you enjoyed my game!

I can confirm you are #49th on the Leaderboard. I'll look into showing the Player their Rank, even if they are outside the top 10 (although I cannot update this game without breaking peoples save data).

cant you copy leaderboard's data into something (maybe a json file) and then use it to restore the player's data if your game data break? jsons are usually light so...

Thanks for the suggestion.

Unfortunately I can't preserve the link between players browser and the Leaderboards Data if I update the game. Saving the Leaderboard data is simple enough, its letting players access it after an update which is a challenge with my current system.

Can confirm the leaderboard is loading on google chrome. Game looks really interesting, I'll have to play it when I get the time.

Thanks for letting me know. Enjoy!
