First rhytm game I played on this jam, loved it, truly a original thing to do! At the start it was a bit difficult to get the right tempo but in the end I did it. The level with the infinite pawns was too difficult for me. Also I don't know if it's a syncronization error or me being bad at rythm games, but I think the time when you press the button and when the indicator at the center glows are a bit offset, idk.
Really nice game!
Thank you!
Yeah, calibration is at the top of our to-do list after the jam, and we’ll also rebalance some movements to avoid such tight windows for 'good button presses' on levels like the one you mentioned.
Music was fun, hard to get the hang of
Glad you enjoyed the music) We put it together a bit hurriedly, but i guess it turned out better than we expected)
This has been my favorite game so far, it was pretty polished overall and pretty fun.
except for one level, where you have to pass through 2 knights, I was on a "safe" tile (didn't had an exclamation mark on it) and yet I was still dying when the knights 'jumped' over me, but that was inconsistent, because I was able to pass the level by pure luck since the knights just didn't kill me one time.
It was the third to last level.
but anyway, other than that, great game, would be awesome to see this even more developed, good job!
Thank you for the kind words) It's really nice to see that some people played it till the end!
About the 18th level - yeah, that definitely shouldn’t happen, so we’ll look into it. We plan to rewrite the 'game over' conditions and movement events for the enemy figurines, so that issue should be resolved.
We do plan to develop the game further to make it more complete and less frustrating in some parts. At the very least, we'll do some rebalance, add calibration, and make some of the internal changes I mentioned above.
Really polished, great idea. The keyboard/music sync seemed to be off on my machine (MacOS, Apple Silicon), so I didn't make it very far though.
Happy that you liked the idea!
It's unfortunate that you had that experience, and I hope you still enjoyed the game to some extent) We did a lot of testing, using our friends as test subjects before the final build, but unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to test on MacOS. Once the jam is over, we’ll release an update with calibration as soon as possible - hopefully, that will fix your issue!
Loved the palette selection!
Very original gameplay, I liked it a lot but wish there was a way to calibrate to avoid or minimize input lag, as at some point I felt like the beat was out of sync with the instructions on screen (or maybe I just suck at this type of game!)
Very fun and cool!
Thank you, glad you liked it!
Yeah, the beat window might be a bit tight, and unfortunately, we didn’t manage to implement calibration in time (we'll definitely make it a higher priority next time we do a rhythm game!). But once the jam is over, calibration will be in the first update!
I really liked that you need to be in the beat of the music to be able to play! Nice gameplay over there! Good work on this game!
Thank you! I'm really happy you liked the idea!
During brainstorming, we had, like > 10 different concepts, but this one won us over almost instantly!)
This game is amazing, the music and visuals and concept are 10/10
Unfortunately, I think you guys overwork a little... this game could be much shorter and easier. I don't know how many levels left, but I rage quit
There was some levels where I thought "this is final test, I past it almost at random lucky luck - but than it turns out there will be much more places to suffer"
Glad you liked it, thanks)
Yeah, we did make some adjustments in the final build to ease the challenge a bit, but it can still be tough at times. We didn’t have enough time to make major changes (even though we already know how), and we wanted to keep all the levels intact—removing any felt like it would make the game incomplete.
About the level indicator—yep, we’ve gotten similar feedback, and we’ll definitely implement that after the voting period ends)
This game is amazing. I like the fact that you can pick different color themes, a lot of games on here don't do that. The concept is very original and the game is very fun. I don't know if its intented that the side scrolling stages are supposed pick a different one if you die. The later stages start to not make much sense or get overcomplicated, but it's probably because I have a poor reaction time. Also, the cover art is so beautiful I get bricked to it.
Thank you for the kind words! I hope you still enjoyed it despite the difficulty) We have some ideas in the works to make it more accessible while keeping the challenge and dynamics, but we’ll have to wait until the jam ends to work on them.
Although all the textures in the final build are 1-bit, in the early prototype we used a shader to maintain the 1-bit look, which made it easier to implement palette changes later on.
As for the runner levels, yes, we ran out of time to properly design them, so we went with procedural generation. Hopefully, they’re still interesting)
Big thanks to ellfuss for the cover art—credit goes to her!
I coundn't finish the game, but for now it's my favourite of the jam<3
The game is very rich in elements and mechanics. The puzzles are so creative and difficult, each tile and piece of the game has its own identity and properties, and timed with the fast paced music it makes one of the best puzzle games I ever played.
That's such a great compliment! I'm flattered! Once the idea was set, we went through a lot of reference material, but still missed some points due to the time limit and lack of experience. We're really glad we managed to get some things right! Thank you!
Such a cool and fun spin on the genre. Very challenging but never felt unfair.
Glad to hear you liked it! We might have pushed the challenge a bit too far, but it’s a relief to know you think it’s fair)
Such a cool rhythm puzzle game , I really hope this wins the jam
Its super fun to play, looks amazing AND its well made :D
That's really awesome to hear! We put our best effort into making the game (though we couldn't polish everything in time and see room for improvement from the feedback), and with so many other great entries in the jam, your words really lift our spirits - thank you so much!
Music and Art are super good and gameplay is very well made although I didn't make it far. 5 Stars!
Happy to hear you enjoyed it this much!) Thank you)
I almost stuck with it to the very end, but it became just barely too frustrating to justify going onwards, especially since I hadn't known how much was left. Still made it quite far though, and certainly enjoyed it for the most part!
I enjoyed the pseudo 3d effect on the exterior of the tower as I also chose a pseudo 3d direction to take with my Game CHRONOLISK.
Thank you!) Glad you liked it for the most part)) You're right, some levels count indication or level select in the menu would be nice addition to check your progress. And, yeah, probably we made some levels a bit too challenging , but we have some ideas on how to improve player's experience there)
Really cool graphics! The rhythm gameplay is also cool, if a bit frustrating at times. Especially the lifts up and down felt like they were very unresponsive.
Thank you!) Yeah, we're aware of tight beat window - we'll introduce calibration and other settings to tackle this issue once voting is over)
Beautiful and difficult game, beat it whole
Congrats! Hope you enjoyed it)
Awesome game, great art! Love the concept.
Thank you!) It's my 2nd and sormerens's first gamejam so it really means a lot to us)
cool game, broke my keyboard
Glad you liked it! Sorry for the keyboard, though)
