I really liked a lot of different parts of this game.

The first thing that struck me was the music. It's very soothing and nice to listen to. I just kinda wanna sway my head to it, y'know? The sound effects as well are very nice to hear. Overall I'd describe the audio experience as... satisfying? I don't know, it scratches a certain kind of itch.

Then, like, the art. The limited color palette and the pixelated style is very nostalgic. Though, I never had a game boy, or anything like that. I'm too young. It's still there, though. It feels familiar, like a place I've lived for a long time.

The concept, too, is really interesting and fun. I'd love to see more expansions on this idea in the future. The way you decided to do it as an elevator rife with a stranger is so interesting to me. I think if this were part of a full game, like a small cutscene or something, it would be absolutely amazing at character building or just setting a tone. Don't get me wrong, it's great as a standalone, but I cannot tell you how many different ideas this game gave my brain. It's such a beautiful thing when someone's art can inspire others. So, thank you for that.

And congrats on your first Game Jam! Here's to many more to come.

Thank you so much for the in depth review. Congrats to you too, this was a great jam to get us started!

I absolutely love that you took introspection as a theme!

I found your game great, the delivery is simple yet impactful.

Maybe it could be improved on one point though, that is, that when you answer the question, Stranger just leaves it at that and it feels a bit empty.

I think it would've been cool if Stranger gave his own answer, maybe? Make it feel like a real conversation and give some alternative view to the player?

I do realize it would've been a lot of work with that many question.

Interesting - the elevator setting really works well !
Cool idea for the 20 seconds :)
The retro look is fun too !

I like the GB aesthetic and I got to learn a few things about myself.  Nice work. :)

Love the vibes. The elevator UI to convey time is genius. I tried a few times but did not yet burn through all the questions.

You could probably make a similar game with focus on humor, where an indie game dev has to pitch their idea in such short time... a literal elevator pitch xP offer choices for each aspect- mechanics, gameplay, style, theme, etc. and the challenge is to select the most ridiculous choices xD

That sounds like a good idea! I'd play that haha. Thank you for playing and the input!

It's quite a novel concept relative to what I've played so far. It's like reverse 8-ball: I played a few times so I can see what I type of answers I would think up, and I got a well timed question about what I wanted to achieve next year!

Graphics wise, I like the Gameboy-style pixel art. The floor indicator functioning as the timer is a clever design. The 8-bit music also adds to the Gameboy aesthetic. The elevator door opening sounds like the start of a horror game, so perhaps that can be changed to be a little more cheery.

If you removed the typing element, this could also work as a small little mobile app that prompts some introspection instead of just being another venue for distraction.

A short break that induces some much needed self-reflection.

Thank you so much for spending the time to play and give such good feedback. I haven't put much thought into the music since I added it, but you have a good point. It's also an easy enough fix for me to make, I will probably go back to it. I also have been wanting to port this to mobile but I didn't know how to make the keyboard work right. That is a great idea to take it out entirely because it is really not needed. It is actually partially inspired by a mobile app called 'Agape'

Thanks again!

I changed the door opening sound like you suggested and I think it is much better! If you get a chance to try it again let me know what you think! Thank you so much for the great feedback!

I think it sounds more positive now. It also sounds like an actual elevator chime now as well.

Thanks for responding to the feedback and implementing it.

I really like this concept, and it's realised really nicely here. The gameboy style visuals are perfect and really well done, and it's a great unique experience!

The music that plays when the elevator opens remind me of the classic horror movies, the game had some tricky questions that made me actually reflect about myself, I like the way you show the time by using the elevator screen and buttons, good job.

The reality check i don't wanted - but needed.

Thank you for this <3

There's a very odd serene beauty to this game, I really really love the concept, and I think the color scheme and minimalist background aids that sense of introspection a lot. Very unique and brilliantly executed game

Thank you for your kind feedback :)

It's cool seeing somebody else in this jam take a Game Boy inspired approach to the art. Not as cool as this game though! You certainly achieved your goal with this. A few of those questions got me thinking long after the stranger had to leave. Thank you for that

Wow, thank you for that review! I have been struggling to get people to try it. I'm glad it had some sort of impact on you :)
