- I loved your mapping in this game, you really made the default tilesets look good and that's not easy! The story was very fun, you could totally expand on it. Great job!
- A really nice little game. A short story, but i really loved it, simple, effective. Not too much nor not enough. The combat system is simple as well, and balanced. The girl boss killed me cause i wasn't paying attention, but by focusing i was able to beat it. No bug, nor annoying things. Great job to you ! I spend a really nice moment, thanks for that ! See you :) Drag

Hi! Great RPG game! It's short and sweet! Let's see what I can nitpick about it.
- The turn order display messes a little with the help window in battle.
- Sundra tells Michael helped Aria even if Aria downright rekted her in one go.
- As Aria exits the castle's court, the door closes in front of her before teleporting out.
- I was expecting more from the final boss to be honest and Bloodstorm is downright overpowered. You just have to spam the damn spell to win. That's pretty anti-climactic. With that said, you maybe wanted to allow your player a power trip before the end of the game and I didn't noticed, but with that said... I would have liked some challenge.
Nothing much more to say about it. Best of luck for the game jam! ^^
Hi, thanks for playing my game and taking the time to leave a review! First, I'm happy you found it to be enjoyable! :)
-The turn order has been pointed out-I feel so smart that I missed it... I believe it is because I used the same settings as my main project has but the difference in text boxes (default vs customized) resulted in a couple pixels being off. Sorry!
-I could add in and run checks if Aria one-shots Sundra and change the dialog accordingly, though I had never encountered a situation where Aria DOES one-shot Sundra! The only way I could think of is if you got double violent daggers, and got multiple criticals with attacking. I just didn't think it was possible. So, ah, good job? XD
-Whelp, that's embarrassing.
-Bloodstorm was made overpowered mostly for Drifty so he would have an easy mode and ensure he could see the ending. Though he didn't use it till halfway through the fight, and did pretty well. You can always fight without using Bloodstorm if you want a challenge ;) If I expand the game, you can certainly expect a nerf to Bloodstorm, and a buff for the bosses!
Thanks again for playing and writing a review!
For the details:
- Actual, the problem is simple. I already encountered it before. The turn order have its own window, it's just transparent. RPG Maker MV draws all the windows on the same layer resulting on problems like this to happen. Moving either the turn order window or the help window should solve the problem easily.
- Actually, I simply used Quick Jab on her and that's it, that's how I one-shot her. (I chose a spear as starting weapon.)
You're most welcome! Again, good work on this! ^^
Hey there! We did a high level review of your entry this weekend and would like you to see it on our channel. You can find the exact time to skip to in the description:
This story is good. Excellent characters, clever use of character generator parts, and a plot that left me wanting to see what happens next.
I liked how you modified the tileset to block parts of the map off and create small challenges to get to some of the chests. Also, giving the player the ability to choose a primary weapon at the beginning of the game was a nice touch.
The beginning of the game was a bit text-heavy and full of autorun events. I was afraid I was playing a visual novel at first, but fortunately, it was over before I gave up.
Making the teammates auto-attack was an odd choice, and one that did not work out well. Taking control away from the player is rarely a good move. I wanted to explore the other characters' skills! Also, I died on a random encounter that would otherwise have been an easy win if the AI hadn't been in control.
This is an overall solid entry, and I would like to see the rest of the story. Just let me control more of the battle next time!
Hi there, thanks for playing my game and taking the time to give some great feedback! I'm happy you enjoyed the plot and characters! I take it as a huge compliment you want to see more of the story ^-^
The begining is a little text-heavy, I will agree. I tried to be as efficient as possible with setting the scene and the society. I'll certainly look into trimming it back a bit and revealing more later rather than upfront.
Sorry you didn't enjoy the AI combat! I wanted to try a different style. You aren't supposed to die to the random encounters unless you just spam guard, and even then your teammates should pick up the slack, hence the choice to AI them. I'll look into the balancing, as I suspect you died to an aoe attack. If you are ever struggling, try Aria's healing primal tap, which gives a huge critical evasion boost. Treat her more as a healer/support than an attacker.
Thanks again for playing! I'm glad you had an overall positive experience, and I'll certainly consider what you've said :)
First jam entry I rated 5 for Story. The way you convey the plot is truly amazing, I feel like I just wacthed a movie.
+Great story with its own world and likeable characters (I liked the main trio)
+Well done intro
+Good mapping
+Decent battle system
-Your choice of music is a bit weird. Some BGMs and MEs feels out of place, one BGM start playing at 150% speed and the next one is 50%, something feels off about it.
-Text is kinda hard to read. I see you tried to make it look fancy but it made the text longer and less comprehensible. Sometimes I had to read one sentence twice to comprehend it.
Overall, I liked the game good job!
Thanks so much for the rating, and for the compliment! I'm coming into game development as a writer, so I feel like story telling is my strongest point. I'm super happy you enjoyed the plot and characters! ^-^
Yes, music was rough for me in the jam. MV music is limited and I tried, but finding a way to make it fit the scene clearly didn't work as well as I wanted it to.
As for the text, was there a specific example that you found difficult to read? I wanted to give each character their own voice, so I'm wondering if one voice I used had a negative side effect in terms of comprehension.
Thank you for playing my game and taking the time to write a review! Makes me very happy ^-^
Good submission! A few notes:
-I like the effort you put into your opening cutscene. All those maps must have been a lot of work, and your eventing is quite good.
-I would lower the battle message popups a little. The turn indicator kind of cuts it off.
-Nice variety of skills and items. Descriptions show there's a lot of depth in the statuses and effects.
-Love the storytelling via journal reading, and it was a satisfying little story arc, although dead parents is a bit overdone.
Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed the story and mapping. As for the turn indicator, sorry it cut some text off! I hope you were still able to read enough to understand the battle messages.
As for the 'dead parents' bit, well, I just needed something to jumpstart the plot. And technically one parent isn't dead ;)
Thank you for the feedback. It makes me happy you had a good experience playing my game :)
Yeah battle message was a very minor aesthetic thing that didn't detract from understanding it all. Just might be easily missable. I had to move my messages and gab windows down quite a bit so it wouldn't interfere with the turn indicator.
Great writing and story! The combat is fast-paced and satisfying with interesting skills. A well-made RPG experience :D :D
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed my game! It was made in the span of a massive 6 days so it makes me really happy it came together and was a good experience for someone. :)
