The game itself is fun and interesting, but I wouldn't call it a roguelike. I would love to see more animals, worlds and gene upgrades in the future,. P.S. Maybe make the ship just a tad wider, it gets crowded.

Developer

thanks for playing!  Actually all 4 of those were planned but I overscoped and ran out of time cause this was for the 7 day roguelike gamejam.  Since it was a small self contained event, Im not sure if ill be returning to this any time soon though.

I enjoyed this quite a bit. Captured that pokemon feel of seeing new creatures with an arguably better capture mechanic which I thought was really well implemented. I would've liked if the creature AIs played a bigger role!

Developer

thanks!  there were more in depth plans for more things likes like specific fears, food preferences, calls, tracks, etc but you know how it goes lol.

Cute game! It's cool that you take sokoban aspects and apply it to a turn based peaceful animal collecting game. The interactions and different "AI" states the animals have make it feel like the ecosystem is alive.

Developer

Thanks, the feeling of liveliness was all I was going for :D!  The pushing was a really last minute thing cause I yet again forwent making an inventory system.

Love the dropship animations!  And the different reactions the fauna have to the player.  Lots to play with and expand on in the future!

Developer

Thanks I probably spent the most time on the animations which prob coulda been devoted to something more important lol

This is suuuuuuuper cute. Really impressive given the time. Could be easily expanded in a full game.

Developer

Thank you! I was actually struggling on how to make it more game-y and less simulation

This is incredible! What a cool idea. Fun and interesting and very unique. It took me a long time to figure out how to turn in my animals for research, but that might be on me.

Very lively environment. Good animations. I love the zooming into the world at the beginning. Wow, so much and so polished for so short time! Congratulations.

Developer

thanks ha glad to see someone enjoy them, I kinda lost almost a whole day to return to base / leave base ones lol

This is such a great game!
It's super fun to see different animals interact with each other. You did a great  job at making the world feel alive.

I feel kind of bad for separating a family of Dison and putting water animals into dry containments, but I guess it was my choice.

In it's current state the game only gets easier as you progress, but I guess that the second area may have required some higher stats.

It amazes me how much you managed to do in this little time!

thanks! The basic structure is my own roguelike framework from past years but with all new mechanics added (for instance the walls between tiles and multi tile entities).  Im glad the game world felt alive, that was my main goal for this one.

I was actually going to put in a message that all animals will be returned to the planet after they are scanned at the station exactly for that reason, but since it was just a fluff message it was pretty low priority and ultimately didnt have time.  The Idea for the 2nd area was that exploring during that day would slow damage you from the intense heat, until you could find the right animals gain a heat resistance gene.  Maybe one day.
