I like sitting back and watching the base I built do most of the work :)

Ahhh it’s so close. The concept is great and I love the idea, but it’s ergonomic death by a thousand cuts! Please forgive me for this list I have many thoughts:

  • scale of things feels like half the size it should be. Makes it hard to accurately pickup/drop things(I even catch the feeder miss dropping some things in the heart!). I’d double the size of pickups and triple the size of drop-zones like turrets and the heart
  • I did not realize the ‘sacrificial dagger’ is not the same as the dagger you start with and assumed it was useless to craft. I’d probably change that to something different then the ironic main sacrificial dagger to avoid confusion
  • Having no way to heal the heart makes a challenge, but’s also very frustrating. For a jam game, I would’ve had it heal at the end of each day to full.
  • One of things I’ve done in past jam games is just thrown up a quick-n-dirty graphic in the pause screen for instructions. If you find yourself in this situation, you can literally just put what you put on the itch page in the pause screen.
  • Slowing down during building is nice, but I would completely STOP the game process after a set period so the player can scroll through the menus to access things
  • Sometimes the menu appears out of bounds and I can’t see what I’m selecting
  • If the craft menu had icons of what you’re about to craft, that’d help
  • If the craft menu had q,e shortcuts to switch categories, that’d also help
  • Some audio/visual queue that the heart was starving would be a good edition.

Hope any of this is useful, again, I wouldn’t have this many thoughts if there wasn’t something to this!

No need for forgiveness! I love lists like this.
I've added a lot  of what you said already but these are good additional changes as well!
Note that the menu being off screen is intended, you can move the camera with right click.
Even so, the camera should focus then menu or something when it's created anyway.
Thank you for playing!
And I deeply appreciate your feedback!

Note that the menu being off screen is intended, you can move the camera with right click. Ah man I didn’t realize that at all! Zooming to the location def. sounds useful 👍

The gameplay is very original and hard, but probably a bit unbalanced since it's seems almost impossible to craft more than 1 spitter, nonetheless this is another peak game, the music is also very nice.

Also is there any way to heal the heart?

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

You can generally craft one turret early on and get more down they just have to be your focus.
But that shouldn't be.
Definitelylearned a lot about balancing and pacing though after this jam ahaha.

And there isn't a way to heal in the current jam release sadly.

At a certain point I realised it was better only craft spikes/spike balls, and I got to the second day like this. Btw does something actually happen when you completely feed the heart?

Developer

Another thing is the spitter turrets are rather underpowered in the current build.
The 2nd turret is much better.
Additionally spike balls work really well along side turrets!
And yes when you get to 250/250 meat you beat the game but it just goes into infinity mode.
Generally you want to get some defenses then build a grinder and 1-2 seekers to get you a lot more resources to defend better.
But I understand how it would be confusing and difficult to get to this point.
Thank you for continuing to play my unbalanced game ahaha.

My favourite game so far, cool idea, cute art, decently complex and I really like how interactive everything is, sandboxy gameplay is super fun.

It's incredibly hard, or I'm playing wrong, not sure which, but it does feel like the requirements for getting your first structure are quite complex, an early game stepping stone to get started would be nice, the crafting is an interesting mechanic but a little clunky to use, especially when the menu goes off screen.

I really want to beat it so I'll be coming back to this one, but I genuinely mean it when I say this is my favourite so far, it really gets my brain ticking which is awesome.

Developer

Hey im really happy you played and enjoyed it! Regretfully, I was pressed ontime and I didn't get to explain as much to the player as or balance like I wanted. I made the game 100% better an hour after the game jam which is hurts but thats how it goes I guess ahaha.

Know the crafting menu is a part of the world! In the game's current state if it happens to be off screen you can move the camera by right clicking and dragging  to view it better!

Spent four hours and unfortunately couldn't beat it. The bone drop RNG is just too brutal for me to ever get past the purple enemies unfortunately, I either lost because I spent too much making a grinder or because I spent too much on ammo. Oh well.

sorry to hear. Ive worked alot on the post jam version and after i plan for a bigger release so hopefully its easier to manage by then.

This is one of my favourites so far. Its a little hard to get into it and I think the knife should drop a little faster but overall very unique and fun! Great job!

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Very well-designed game! Takes a while to figure out and even longer to actually figure out (seeing as how I'm not even close yet). I really like games that combine systemic gameplay with a haptic mechanic and this game does it really well. Interacting with the pan-head-enemy for the first time was hilarious. The little introductory cutscene is very cool, too. Great job!

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I wanted to explain the mechanics more thoroughly but I opted focus my attention in other places due to time. I'm happy you got a kick out of the pan-headed enemy it makes me laugh to death every time I watch someone play.
