I started the game fine, I spoke with the lady at the back whom I suspected straight away who/what she was, but I didn't understand the symbol meanings, I got through the dialogue with what seemed good positive responses, in the end when she asked me to name her, I think I choose wrong, at that point we arrived at a station but all I did was start spinning around, couldn't move or interact. I had to press escape to stop it, then I met the conductor, and again I started spinning, escape worked again here, then that was it. Roll credits. Nice relaxing music, very nice style for the characters and from what I learned from my play through, rich writing and great voice acting. I wanted to be able to talk to all the character without having to restart the game, maybe I should have spoken with the woman at the back last. Great Work guys.
Nice voice acting and presentation. Definitely created a mood. Slick and well done for a jam.
I wasn’t sure what to do and I just talked to 3 groups of random people and my stop came up. That was fine. I figured I would need to talk to everyone and maybe guess who the lone woman was that I first talked to.
Only definite wish list item would be the ability to click to advance dialogue. I know it’s well voiced, but sometimes I just wanted to read through it and get to the next conversation.
Again, well done and the team did well!
Loved the atmosphere - the music really helps you settle into it. The choices were a little ambiguous, but the stories were interesting.
Very nice presentation - all looks neat and done with care, cute portraits, great voice acting. Pretty impressive on that front! For me personally it lacks gameplay and I did not dig the 3 colored choices that could mean a lot of things (or nothing) when I have to decide on a reaction.
A puzzling but intriguing experience.
Very nice atmosphere, strange but interesting snippets of stories, wonderul voiceactors.
Nice and atmospheric game, interesting stories and characters. Dialogue was a little buggy, speech would end before subtitles, and then the rest of the subtitles were just cut off, so it was a bit confusing to follow.
The cover immediately made me think of that scene from Spirited Away, and I was delighted to find that that's exactly what this game is like. The characters were complex and really sensitively written, and I deeply enjoyed just spending time with them and listening to them. The visuals are gorgeous and handled really nicely--I definitely appreciated details like the custom text frames. Plus the three icons were a tidy solution to how to create branching narrative while still maintaining a silent narrator. I think this is the best character work I've seen in this jam!
(For whatever reason, in WebGL, sound didn't work for me. But I'm sure that's just a platform compatibility problem; WebGL's sound is notoriously difficult.)
Obviously a very impressive submission in many ways. However I felt it quickly became tiresome listening to the dialogue and having to click a button in between most sentences to advance the dialogue. I think it would work much better if you could move or at least look around while in conversations and if you didn't have to click anything except for when you need to make a choice. That way the player could just sit back, look at the views outside the windows etc, and listen to the dialogue in a more relaxed manner, like being on the sort of dreamy voyage this is meant to be.
Everyone loves making new friends!
Beautiful game and outstanding voice actors!
I have no words, but wow. Also, Agatha's voice sounded familiar. There really isn't anything I would change about this game. Just good job! I have no idea how you did this in 2 weeks lol
A fantastic game, looks like something made by a game studio.
This game is a strong contender to be the winner.
Congratulations to the developer
This game was a lovely way to spend an evening. I enjoyed the dialogue and felt the calm atmosphere was great. I really enjoyed many of the characters, especially The Lone Passenger. Highly recommend this game for someone looking for a relaxing but intriguing game.
Loved the stories and voices, but would have liked more interaction
This was a beautiful, very well written, stream of unique stories told within a dreamy environment that brought me somewhere between Spirited Away and The Polar Express.
Here's a more in depth review:
- First, the title screen and setting were really key in bringing a calm and dreamy mood. I spent a few minutes navigating in the train looking out the window and it was great to see the world that you had built for the game. While simple in terms of graphics, the water and lighting carried a lot of weight in providing a credible environment.
- The game is all about the various stories and characters you encounter. I really enjoyed listening in to the various stories, which were surprisingly very varied, both in terms of style, voices, theme, etc. The voice casting was impeccable, and I often found myself looking away from the screen, just hitting A over time as I listened to the characters share their thoughts or stories with me.
- The interactivity is where the game fell a bit short for me. At the various times I was asked to join in on the conversation, I was never quite sure about how my picked option would translate, and oftentimes it didn't quite translate into what I had in mind. For example, I was disappointed I wasn't able to pick the right option to describe the the personage representing Death at the end of the train, when I knew who they were and what they were doing.
- There were a few graphic glitches with lighting that were resolved by going to Firefox. I only saw the notice after the fact, but in Firefox things were very smooth. The train and environment were fairly detailed, but the 3d models for the characters felt like they had been done in a different style. It didn't take away from the game, but might be something nice to change down the line.
In any case, this was a real treat for people who like stories. It definitely is a game that requires someone to dedicate some time to appreciate it, just like reading a good book.
Awesome job on making such beautiful stories in such a short period of time!
