Got a high score of 600 here. I loved the sprites and look of the game. I also ran into the same challenge Simco mentioned with hitting the fire when aiming, so it seems likely worth tweaking or looking into for future revisions.

Developer

yeah, okay, I'll fix this problem in the future

I had a lot of fun with this. I got 680 points. I really like how the light levels of the area change depending on the strength of the fire. Only issue I had with it was that I sometimes hit the fire when I was aiming for a bat behind it but I'm not sure how you would resolve that, maybe making the fire lower or adding a jump?

Developer

I didn't understand "hit the fire", what do you mean

Submitted

My attacks would replenish the fire when I was trying to hit a bat behind it

Developer(+1)

yes, I know it works like that, because I chose to prioritize fueling the fire, there was also the idea of making fire replenishment and killing bats on different keys, but that would have complicated the game and I abandoned that idea

I get that, you can only do so much in the time you have. I just suggest lowering the fire slightly to make it easier to aim over the top of it

Developer(+1)

okay, thanks for the comment, I'll fix it

Who would have thought bats could be the single-most devastating foe in all of known gaming history?  Well, we have just been proven wrong.  The bats are out to get your fire, so it's time to roast them in return. I see a project here that is nicely detailed, nicely animated, good controls and fairly straightforward.

Settled for a high score of 870.

Notes:

  • Aren't these bats a little suicidal with their agenda?
  • Information on game controls would be appreciated!  I did not realize you had to click the mouse to shoot fireballs for some time.
  • Good to see a pause button exists!
  • Apparently you can land on bats as they try to approach the flame.  Interesting.
Developer

Yes, bats are a bit suicidal 😆, and the fact that you can trap bats is done specifically so that you can decide to sacrifice your health to put out the fire, or give off a little heat and save yourself

Super cool! I got 810! I love that the lighting actually dims as the fire goes out

Developer

Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you liked the game, good result. No, burning result🔥

Awesome that was really fun! Love the lightning effects for the cave and fireballs. The multiple objectives/resources to manage (health, mana, and fire) made it quite a fun balancing act! Only wish there were some way to get mana back faster because I end up using all of it eventually.

I had a pretty good first run but wanted to see if I could break 1000. Great work!

Developer

Thanks for the comment, you have a burning result, yes, I agree, you will need to add mana recovery for killing, for example, 10 bats, since you can just light a fire without killing them, and then it would make sense to kill them

Fun!

Thank you 😊
