Track description | Creative process
Like on the last jam, I kept a sort of devlog/journal during the jam, so I recommend reading that, since I wrote down most of my process during the jam there: https://miro.com/app/board/uXjVKomrtc0=/?share_link_id=39711240524

Since I could actually play the game this time around, the first thing I did was play some Super Mario Bros, and then open up the DAW (Reaper) and start sketching some ideas.

After I had gotten some sketches I felt were ok, I started to work on combining those into a single track, using some NES sounds from the Magical 8bit Plug VST.

After some fiddling I got this sort of Mario meets Metal Gear Demake track done 😀.

DAW: Reaper

Sounds: Magical 8-bit plug VST

I like the bassline alot, it has a different feeling and it feels very creative while using original NES sounds. Nice!

Nice take as an alternative track I think it works pretty well, even if sometimes it's a bit ripetitive like the original does. Nice idea to document your process. Good job!

Once again enjoyed reading your journal. Love the triplet feel in the bassline at the beginning. Really matches the theme for me. Great work!

Very on theme for this jam. I really appreciate the documentation of the process as well.

Really fits well with the theme in my opinion, well done ! I would have liked hearing more after the track gets "faster" at 1:30, but anyway good job on this one !

Glad you liked it! A bit of a spoiler, but the faster thing that comes on the fadeout, is just the same track sped up from 130 bpm to 180 😉.

I also like the way you documented the entire creative process, good job!

Keeping notes or a journal while working on tracks is surprisingly fun, highly recommend giving it a try on a jam!

Melodic material in line with the original music (dotted notes and wide intervals), so it works quite well!

The “descending” motif from the official track is also present.

The development is not extremely elaborate, but works well.

Cool track with some nice different section, I can remember the theme.  Respecting the classic sounds is fun to hear. Well done.
