Track description | Creative process
Like on previous jams I kept a sort of devlog/journal thing while working on the submission: https://eetusuikkanen.wordpress.com/2024/09/10/alternative-soundtrack-jam-4-daily-journal/
(Had to change from Miro.com that I used in previous jams to a WordPress page, since Miro had a limit of 3 boards on the free version)

Originally my idea was to go for a symphonic rock style track, but ended up as more of a faux neo-classical vibe.

Managed to come up with the 2 sections on the first day and then totally lost the motivation to come up with anything else, so only slightly over a minute long track this time 😅

Thanks for listening and rating,
All feedback etc. welcome as always!

It doesn't quite match the underwater theme, but generally speaking this really felt like it could be a cut song from the original soundtrack, so kudos for that! Every felt crisp and worked together - the bass was prominent but not overpowering, the rhythm felt consistent but not boring, and the contrapuntal voice in the background was a really nice touch. If I had one complaint, it's that it was maybe just a little too repetitive - once we get to the B section it provides a really nice contrast, but I think introducing some variety earlier on might help a little bit. But I love the neo-classical vibe, it feels really fitting for the subject matter and I really enjoyed this!

Yep, the build-up takes too long. The first part should've been half the length of what it is, I felt the same listening to it later.

Glad you liked it!

True to the style of the game's OST.

I enjoyed the excellent rhythm in this, the choice of instruments also fit really well in the game! It’s a bit short but I don’t think it’s a huge problem because some of the best music in the OST are very strong short loops.

I had the same issue on this that I've had on some other music jams, which is that I tend to get most of the track sketched out on the first day or two and then for the rest of the jam I cant really get myself back to the flow and come up with anything else to add to it 😩. Might need to define a solid workflow/routine for writing music to keep that from happening.

As I said already, nice vibe,  and such a great/pleasing transition at 0:40.
Would have love a bit more continuity in the sound because I didn't feel like the melody change at 0:56 fitted well with the first part, but at the same time some variation was needed sooo...
Good Job!

Yea I agree, that part went a bit more on the "folky" side of things than the previous stuff 😅.

Fun take, like that you kept the disco bass and classic rythm. Melodic and harmonic element it pretty unique, enjoyed the vibe.

Glad you liked it! Wish I had done a bit more material to the track, but couldn't get any ideas after the initial 2 parts so oh well...
