My high score is just 80 :P I loved it but found the controls very difficult. But the game is fun, and you followed the limitation and theme! Maybe in the future add some upgrades. Would love to see an improved version soon!
Glad you liked the game :)
And yeah, there were plans for different enemies, and other stuff to keep the content loop more engaging, but time got the better of me. And I might fiddle a little with it past the jam. Only time will tell :p
I like the retro style of this game!
The steering being very sensitive adds a little extra difficulty, and could be seen as a style choice, although I think it might get a bit annoying after a while. The 8-bit sound effects and music fit the theme very well though!
Yeah, the steering definitely, in hindsight, could have been toned down a bit. I suppose that's why playtesting exists. And I'm glad you liked the music, even though none of it was actually made by me, as seen in the credits.
Great game. Love the music it had.
Thanks :) As show in the credits, none of the music was actually made by me, but I'm glad you enjoyed the game regardless!
Pretty fun and I kinda actually liked the hyper fast steering speed, but the moving was absolutely useless, because there the speed was too very fast, but there was no reason to move, but the you needed to use the hyper fast steering speed which was actually kinda fun, but if there was an option to not use it, i would't use, because it would easier and then the thing that makes triggered in almost every jam game with pixel art DIFFERENTLY SIZED PIXELS, please just check that all the pixels are the same size and then magically the game looks like 60% better.
Thanks :) I'm glad you liked the game, and I can see what you mean. The lack of a need to move is actually something I wanted to try and address. Maybe enemies with different patterns, or ones that shot you instead of the base would have solved that issue. I just didn't really have enough time to try and implement something like that. Hopefuly that didn't ruin the game for you. And I hope you try out the game while moving, because I think it's actually kinda fun.
And with the pixel art scaling issue, that's just a time issue aswell. I drew the sprite art for the base, and then realised that it was way too small. So rather than drawing it all over again, I figured I'd save time and just scale it up. but yeah, I do agree it looks a bit jank as is :p
Fun game and well designed, but the steering speed is too high. Overall quite nice except for that issue.
Thanks for the comments :) And yeah, in hindsight, I could have turned the turning speed down a little bit. I suppose if I had more time with the game, that's probably something I would have caught.
super hard to steer even for an asteroid type game
Yeah, I suppose the steering is a little fast and floaty, but I hope that didn't dampen the experience for you :)
