lot of fun, replayable. music and increased difficulty made it more exciting. love that death is often the best path to victory - like the shadows of myself. took me a while to figure out the role mechanic.

Developer

Thank you! Glad you had fun :)

a tad too difficult for me, but I liked a lot:

  • the visual cues on the cooldown and enemy vision
  • the effective sprite animation
  • the great soundtrack
  • and the non blocking tutorial + diegetic sentences helping with immersion

All that kept me going for longer than I expected! great submission :D

Very well done, probably the most polished game I've seen so far. This game is huge! It incorporates the theme very well! Congrats!

Developer

Thank you so much!

Great game and incredible (very stress-inducing) music :)

Developer

Thank you so much!

Really good game! The music is very catchy!

Developer

Thank you!!

Well, I just spent 1.5 hours playing (tryharding) this game, and there is nothing much I can say. Everything is well mixed (music, graphics, difficulty), I love the idea and how it was developed.

Really a great job.

P.S. I challenge someone to beat my 112.139s :)

Developer

Omg amazing job!! I know you've been grinding for that time because it took me a while to get sub 2 min. I did beat you by 100 milliseconds tho ;)

Submitted

wasn't yours 112.216? :'(

Developer

Yup :3 Got the screenshot below (make sure you take a screenshot too!) You got it, you can beat me.

Submitted

So actually it's me that already beat you by 100 ms (screen is in your screenshot post :))

Developer (1 edit)

OH SORRY LMFAO asjdfaskdfbl CONGRATS you've beat the Developer record!!

I accept your challenge.

Incredible! Would you be interested to try the "no-rolls, zoomed in run" challenge?

Submitted

Ouch, no rolls will change all my actual run strategy :'(
But I will give it a try :)

Developer

How about this? 109.168 seconds, a 20 second time save from your record. Good luck! :3

Submitted(+1)
It wasn't easy, but I finally got you :')
Developer

Omg wow you are really good at our game! I can tell you've been dedicating time for this, and I admire that. I won't try to beat you any longer, you have won :)

Now is sub 100s possible?

Submitted(+1)

Actually yes, it's possible to complete with 1 cycle only, but timer get stuck at 60s, i think this run was under 100s (maybe 90-95), but i can't be sure :S

Developer

Impressive! And thanks for the bug report :)

Developer

You continue to surprise me! I really really appreciate your time spent on our game.

Interesting idea and overall very polished.

I think other comments have covered the positives pretty well. I found the “flickering” fog of war a bit disconcerting, it was a bit unclear to me why that was happening. In a few places enemies got stuck on doors.

Apart from that, a unique idea that captured the theme really well.

Developer(+1)

Appreciate the feedback! We had noticed these things as well, and it was a rather complicated fix. Also enemies getting stuck on doors was a TOTALLY intentional feature ;) (but it can actually be useful).

Fun, looks great, controls feel great. The music and map “peeking” blips really add to keeping the energy up, plus the countdown at the top. I’m usually a slow, explore-everything player and I found myself blasting through rooms to get farther in. Really fun

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed it! It makes me happy seeing all these compliments about the music :)

Brilliant game with cool spooky ghosts and exciting moving "safe" squares--and the instant respawn  (I died a lot) was a relief.  Addictive replay quality.  Still playing.

I might have played this game more than any other game from the jam. The addictive nature of “just one more run” and getting the time down just a little bit more. I think I have the cycles down to get a better time but the best I could actually string together was 183ish for now. I’ll be back!

Developer

That's a really good time, I have yet to break 300s!

Developer

Really appreciate all of your comments <3 Good luck on the sub 3-minute time!

I liked the ghost replays a lot as well as the tactile component of the game where you need to balance your decisions between going for a mad run and staying stealthy. The cycles theme came through pretty nicely as well. Looks very polished! Well done!

Amazing how many small touches and polish there is in here! I love the little conversations that are happening and how you can get a bit of lore by reading all of them over time after dying a lot. I didn’t even realize at first how the ghosts worked, but once I understood what they did, my mind was blown!

Unfortunately I did not have the tenacity to finish the game. I tried a whole bunch of times, but starting from zero is a bit demoralizing after a “long” run. At least respawning is instant, I highly appreciate it! I wonder how the game would change in feeling if there was some progress mechanic. Something like upgrading your roll or allowing one “sight” by the enemy to be ignored?

Oh, before I forget, the music is really good. It’s hard to make a repetitive tune that does not annoy you after a while, but you nailed it!

Developer(+1)

Maybe it was all the playtesting, but I was worried the music would get annoying after a while, so I really really appreciate that comment!

Who's gonna try sub 2 minutes? :)

Edited: My record was 3 minutes lol

Submitted(+1)

that’s wild! challenge (I won’t be able to achieve) accepted
