  • Fun little game. I don't think it met the rivalry theme or the twist involved and for that i have rated those areas lower. The experience is good with a small story that ties it all together with matching artstyle.
  • The game looks fun and plays pretty good, definitely a relaxing game someone can enjoy with the nice music and simple gameplay. Sometimes the collision size makes it harder to pick up the collectables, some particles and sound effects could also make picking up more exciting.

Tell us about your game!
The game is a relaxing experience for you to de-stress for 3 minutes. Just listen to the music, do what you are told but try to be quick with the requests.

Hey!

How are you? It's Ilias again. I have some new questions for you.

What do you think about game jams in general, and this game jam in particular? What do you think could have been better, and do you have any suggestions?

What were your favorite video games?

Where do you think the strength of video games resides? What do you believe a video game should have to be a successful video game?

If you would like, you can tell me a little bit more about yourself and your background, if you have any information you would like to share.

Thank you in advance,

Ilias.

Hello again. Here are some answers :)

* What do you think about game jams in general, and this game jam in particular? What do you think could have been better, and do you have any suggestions?

R/ GameJams seem to me an excellent idea to polish and expose your skills, as each topic is a challenge to solve. It's up to your creativity, time, effort and organization how you solve it.

This JAM I liked the theme as it is general enough to solve it in different ways. I would have liked a little more time (2 weeks) because not every day you can work on the game.

* What were your favorite video games?

R/ My favorite games for Jams are the ones that go straight to the point, that last about 5 minutes and that don't use too many external Assets. I think that using too many external assets is like cheating, since the person who really draws his characters will have a disadvantage to the assets that has had more time to do it.

Outside of Jams, my favorite games are RPG or Resource Management.

* Where do you think the strength of video games resides? What do you believe a video game should have to be a successful video game?

R/ I believe that for a game to be a success it must have a soul that identifies it and be faithful to it. For example, a game that has 3 mechanics and you use them throughout the game according to your way of thinking, is better than having 10,000 mechanics that will overwhelm you and you will only play with a maximum of 5.

As for graphics, it should not be GTA VI. That they have consistency to their color palette or that they have that soul is enough.

* If you would like, you can tell me a little bit more about yourself and your background, if you have any information you would like to share.

R/ I'm not an expert, I started game development in 2020 with Cassette Dance, the game you can see in my publications and every Game Jam I participate in I try to test new mechanics that I haven't tried before:

1. Cassette Dance: First game all new.

2. A Simple Postman: Isometric gameplay and inventory management.

3. You are the Firewall: Tower Defense.

4. Painting is a Risk: Leaderboard.

5. Trust Rabbit: Tilemaps and NPC chat.

6. Best Soldier: 2D game with wall jumping.

7. Forgotten Past: Top Down 2D game with Dash.

8. Bring Me Now: Isometric Pixel art with NPC Chat and leaderboard.

Thanks for your comments

Hey VidacoStudios  !

How are you?

My name is Ilias.

I tested your game "Bring Me Now" ,

Questions:

Did you include any optimisation techniques or did you rather chose to include only the in-engine ones.

what engine and tools did you use to create your game , your graphics ?

was it hard to develop your game ? did you experienced any challenges ?

what inspired you for your game idea , and the gameplay ? The Game's name  and stoty ?

N.B:

It would mean a great deal to me if you could rate my game. If you haven't already, feedbacks from friends and fellow gamers is valuable to me.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and your time.

Thanks!

-Ilias .

Hello.

Did you include any optimisation techniques or did you rather chose to include only the in-engine ones?

R/ No. As it is a small game and there is little time, I didn't see the need to optimize it in terms of grid and graphics in unity. Tiles are in individual and not in chunk which is less optimized. If I had to optimize it, I would use several grids for different areas of the map and they would be loaded and unloaded depending on where the player is.

What engine and tools did you use to create your game , your graphics ?

Engine: Unity

Graphic: Aseprite/Photoshop

Was it hard to develop your game ? did you experienced any challenges ?

R/ Yes, the isometric pixel-art is difficult to fit in the unity grid or at least I don't have a lot of experience with it. Also the layers issue and that some things are in front of others in certain places is complex to handle and is a limitation if you want to implement some additional mechanics.

what inspired you for your game idea , and the gameplay ? The Game's name  and stoty ?

Game idea: I simply wanted to make an 8-directional game with pixel-art. I was not inspired as such in another game. When I made the character walk around the stage I let the creativity fly free.

Gameplay: The theme is rivalry and one condition is a scoreboard, so what better than the weather being the rivalry. Now, as it is an 8-directional is like an open world, I had the idea that the character would bring things to someone and another NPC would block paths to fulfill the requirements of the JAM.

Game Name: The game is about bringing things so I thought of a direct order like bring me now!

Story: I thought it should have more story (More NPCs, More locations, More drawbacks), that's why there are so many items you can collect but in the end you use very few. Due to the time I had to cut a lot of things and in the end it was like this.

Thank you for your comment and time! <3

This was a very good experience. Got the full experience that was intended by the developer. A bit of stardew valley meets old school Pokémon vibes. love the area segregation of the desert & mountain. Also the side quest of unlocking the path. Even though it was a chill exp the timer definitely was a good 'rivaltry' factor that I wanted to beat. Would play again 100% 👏

Nice bro!!!!!I love it! Your carambolos were pretty well

Didn't find much RIVALRY in the game. But except of this, this is very nice relaxing game!
