  • I enjoyed this game and i really do think given a bit more time this could have been one of the top games in the game jam. It would feel a bit wrong to judge this higher without the extra polish elements such as sound effects and game feel. I really think the golems could have used a bit more work to sell the companion which is where the twist falls short as per the rivalry zombies vs player is pretty straightforward and fits.
  • Game feels quite polished with a large variety of gun types and enemies. Some guns do feel way more overpowered than others and it auto-switching your weapon is cool but if you accidently walk into a weaker weapon you've unlocked you feel exponentially weaker. The game plays well and the leaderboard is a nice touch, unfortunately as you stated the main drawback in the lack of sounds, I think in the future some guns could be cut in favour of the getting the sound in as it'll really enhance the experience as quality > quantity

What a great game! Its graphics are extremely beautiful, the main mechanic was very well implemented, and I liked the way we progress through the game, in the beginning it's quite challenging, but after getting a better weapon, things start to get even more interesting. The only thing I might suggest is a greater variety of enemies because despite there being some variation, I felt that what really corners us is the quantity. The high score was a great idea, it brought out my competitive spirit, and soon I'll try to reach first place in the ranking again haha. The setting was really good, I liked the size of it, it's neither too small nor too big. Great job, congratulations on the project! If you ever think about making an improved version in the future or something like that, I would definitely love to see it.

Developer

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback & the kind words man. ๐Ÿ™ (also that score already is pretty competitive haha but looking forward to seeing how far you go!! ) Yep Definitely could do with variety/balancing but ran out of no time (hence no sound fxs too) :( At the moment, there are no plans cause I feel its not 'good enough' to sell but maybe with features/maps & such that can be changed

Graphics and animations are very satisfying!

Gameplay is nice and doesn't make you very tired.

All in all game is really enjoyable!

The only problem I can say, there are few kinds of zombies, it would be better if there were more types.

Developer

Thank you! Glad the game balance has been suitable for all (it is always tough to get it right)

Yes, I'll agree myself - More Zombies, More Guns & Sound FX in an update!

Really nice game!

The animations and the environments are so well made!

It was fun to kite the zombies around the city, and the titan is pretty cool!

You already know this, but some satisfying sound effects would really add a lot more polish to this game.

The only other point of feedback I could give is that, on my second run, it felt a little weird that the first weapon available to me was the rocket launcher for 2k. If random weapon spawns are necessary, maybe limiting what kind of weapons appear in spawn could be a good idea.

Other than that, it's a very solid game. Nice job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you & Yes I really wanted people to 'train' the zombies like in COD zombies. I'm so happy someone got to do that. Thank you man! ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Yes, Sound effects has hindered the exp much more than I expected but I blame the burnout & over scoping ahaha. No worries. I shall take more care of sound design in my next jam game. c

Yeah, makes sense. It basically makes the game much more grindy than say if you got a cheaper weapon at start. I even thought of letting the start weapon not change ever but then decided against it.

Thank you once again! ๐Ÿ™

You've done a great job. No lags, high performance! Visuals, gameplay and controls are very good!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! ๐Ÿ˜

I've been rating games from lowest-to-highest order so haven't gotten around to rating your game yet, very excited to play the final version since you were sharing the progress on discord!

Take your time! Hope you will like it :)

The light green zumbi running is very funny.

Wow, this looks really good. Probably the best graphics and animation on this jam(I didn't have time to play all the games)

Developer

Wow, did not expect that, thank you so much!!

I liked the game, I love this style of horde gameplay, it always makes me want to beat it at least once, congratulations on the work!

Developer

Thank you!

Wasn't sure what the idea was for pressing R, it didn't do anything for me. Overall not a bad idea except it feels like every other mobile game ad you've scrolled by. There wasn't any clear instruction on the game or win/lose states. The lack of a storyline I think speaks for itself as there isn't any sense of rivalry.

Developer (2 edits)

I'm 100% sure that you skipped on reading the description which explains the R thing. Also that you played for maybe a minute at max and probably closed before even attempting a high score/ shooting once cause if you did play it to give actual feedback like others you would see the global leaderboard in the beginning & the end of the game. Again about no clear instructions - only if you read the description.

I could add a backstory to the game but doesn't really make sense to do so when I choose to  focus on making my game function & work properly as opposed to adding a 2 minute backstory in description for the sake of 'storyline'.

Nevertheless, Thank you for your feedback.

Cool idea and implementation, maybe there can be placed like unlocking gun towers? Aim looks like shifted a bit.

Developer

Thank you. Yeah there are 2-3 other game systems that were left out by me like a perks system and sort of 'loot' drop (nuke, one shot kill etc) so gun towers would be a cool addition if I decide to update the game further!
There is a 'limited random offset' added to the bullet direction to make it not shoot in a perfect straight line. Could balance it a bit maybe.

Submitted

Yeah, I saw offset, but looks on average it's shifted from aim a bit. Like almost everytime bullets fly above aim.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Ah okay okay, will have a look at what's going on. Most probably something to do with the custom cursor. Thanks again!

I suck at surival shooters and this entry confirmed that. You could say that the groundwork here is done just fine :D

The addition of the Titan was a nice touch!

Feedback

- The audio missing was a shame. Would love to replay it with sound one day
- The titan, which was a cool addition, was OP. You could repawn it pretty fast. Also, it moved to regions I had yet to unlock :)

- Switching weapons was a bit hard - i didn't expect it to actually switch out the weapon and only halfway found out I was using my pistol again

The above is all expected in a jam. Overall I really liked your environment, mechanics were solid and it felt like a game I would want to try again! Very nice job

Developer

Thank you for the feedback!

- Yes, no audio has been a highlight issue ๐Ÿ˜”

- Yeah, I let it be OP cause its like better to make the game balance easier than harder. oooo, I'll need to fix that. Thanks for letting me know

- I think this would be slightly more apparent with sounds fxs again haha

Thank you again for your kind word, Maye. ๐Ÿ™

Hey Gameloper!

How are you? My name is Ilias.

I played your game, and I have some feedbacks, thoughts, and questions.

Was the AI generated for the pawns difficult to achieve using Unity?

I'm interested in creating a similar system using Unreal Engine.

I think it's a well-designed gameplay mechanism feature.

I noticed there is no audio or sounds. Was that a bug or a browser issue?

I would suggest adding an option to lock onto the pawns you are shooting.

Thanks!

Developer

Hey Ilias! I'm doing good, thank you!

Not really, the syntax for the AI was pretty simple & straight forward. ( NavMesh agents -> Set path to 'player' position & when within a certain range, then attack)

Thank you for your kind words! Unfortunately, its neither of those, there are just no sound fxs in the game, it seems to have really impacted the experience of all players.

Will keep that feature request in mind If i decide to update the game firstly with sound fxs

Submitted

Oh

So i gues its kind of similar to the unreal engine

yeah background music if chosen well can be an advantage to games experiences

i personally want to uses a system like that but not fo zombies ,but the feature in term of gameplay is kind of similar fo what i want .

Developer

Haven't ever used unreal so can't say much from my exp

true true. Feel free to ask any more questions tbh It can help other devs also who may want some sort of similar gameplay feature

Oh thank you

Submitted(+1)

nice game! prob need some visuals to share where i should go first, its a bit hard to find a nicely priced weapon in this land XD

Developer

Hahahah, That won't help as the guns are placed randomly ๐Ÿ˜ (so players cant just speedrun to their favourite gun and get bored of every playthrough).
The economy is crazy, inflating has come to virtual worlds too! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Submitted(+1)

Really nice entry, felt good to play, the mechanic is clean, I would love to hear some sound effects for the different guns. Well done!

Developer

Thank you! Yep, I've worked with sound fx but never with different gun fxs and it was towards the end so decided to go mute.

Submitted(+1)

The gameplay was quite good. The lack of sound effects however damped the experience by a bit. Although, that does not overshadow the fact that you implemented a full on combat system with multiple guns and waves and the fact that i did not encounter any major bugs. Very nice!

Developer

Thank you, you a real *insert gigachad face* !
Yeah, I left the sound effects for the end & then just didn't have the right resources for it. for the guns particularly. could have added some fxs like button, purchase etc but then decided to go full mute cause that would feel even weirder.
Were they any small bugs that you encountered? Let me know so I can log it & update it in the future. ๐Ÿ˜

Submitted

I did not encounter anything major. However, when the zombies surround you from everywhere, it is impossible to move as you cannot shoot them all because the spawn rate is more than the death rate. Therefore, if you are surrounded, you are basically dead. But i mean, that is the whole point of zombie games, so it will be stupid of me to call it a "bug". Although, if more people get a little flustered by it, you can consider having a pushing mechanic where you can slowly push the zombies away in the direction you want to go. Nothing serious though.
