Loved the physics mechanics, grappling hooks are always so cool. The game's tough, but worth it because it was really fun. The perspective changing throughout the game was awesome also. Great job.
I won't go too deep in the weeds about how this game can be harsh, it IS a game jam after all, but wow, the stuff you've got in it is really clever and evocative! Even if you've said it's "programmer art," the art you made for it is still really good and can definitely be refined into something that sticks. I was immediately and dramatically impressed by the grappling mechanic in top-down view even if I couldn't get the hang of it all the way. Really curious as to how this game would roll with more time put into it. The boss was also great, and the way the game ends was really dramatic and brutal to contrast the hitherto relatively clean and remorseless robot kills, which juxtaposed the grim necessity of killing for your escape. Maybe I can't point to exactly why, but I'm glad I picked up on our mutual HLD influence.
I'm curious about the setting and characters overall, but regardless we all love to see a good robot escape. Definitely keep me posted on it!
Wow this game is tough, but man is it full of potential! I LOVE all the intricate things you can do with the grapple hook. Swinging around things, pulling yourself to things. You can even start swinging, and then pull yourself. And you can loop around other objects you hit. You can change the length of the rope while swinging. Having a blast with this!
The fundamental gameplay here is great. You probably know from the other comments already the difficulty, but I think a lot of that gets resolved with more intuitive controls and a little QoL like iframes. The music is excellent too, reminds me of Risk of Rain.
Cool grappling and combat concept! It took me a while to figure out how to better control the grapple, but good game overall!
this game is really really cool. combat is super fun and unique. I did feel like you wanted to do a bit too much with just the mouse buttons which made a tiny bit hard to control but maybe that´s just me nitpicking. the way you transitioned from top-down to 2d is genius. overall from one gamemaker dev to another, amazing job.
this game is amazing. one of the best in the jam. presentation is great, love the music, gameplay is a whole load of fun. however, the game is way too difficult for me personally (enemies are ruthless and platforming is super tight), and there are many places where you can launch or hook yourself into the out of bounds. i would love to see a full version of this game that is maybe a bit more polished. this game is way too good in terms of potential to just leave it as it is. Great stuff!
Really enjoyed my time with this one! It's difficult, but satisfying to overcome. The presentation is really good too, the music for both sections is fantastic, and the seamless transition to the side scrolling is really well done, nice work all round!
So this game is really cool, and highly overlooked! Now, I didn't complete it because it is late for me right now but this game has massive potential and is really fun!
Now i have some feedback for you, because i think this game has a lot of potential to be something fantastic. The game is really hard and it took me some time to learn the top-down controls, and just when i did it takes me to a sidescroller area.
For the top down gameplay, it controls a little wonky. It's hard to explain but chaining enemies together while slinging around felt really hard and too stiff to react fast. You could definitely rework this in something feeling much smoother. Also, the collisions didn't always work so i had many moments where i got stuck in walls while slinging around.
As for the sidescroller gameplay, it feels way too hard with instakill walls everywhere, maybe make regular ground you stand on instead? Another fix could be to reduce player gravity. The controls here feel like they need some touchups too, becauseit felt sluggish using the recoil gun to move. Maybe make it faster to charge?
The graphics and concepts of this game are excellent, and the presentation with the music was very good too. This game has a lot of potential and at it's core the gameplay is very fun. It felt really cool to just hook enemies and destroy them! The game felt a lot like games as Sanabi and Katana Zero.
If you want to contact me and ask me for future feedback, my username is the same on discord and i am on the Bigmode server aswell. Really, well done on your entry!
