Great art! You might have bit off more than you can chew (like I did) balancing all the gameplay elements. All in all its a very cool game, fun to move around, and the sprites look great.
The grappling is fun. However, it took me a long time to figure out you can wall jump so I couldn't even start playing for awhile.
What is the resource you collect from enemies?
The jumping is really floaty for you and enemies. The gravity could be turned up.
In the third room, there is a huge wall I can wall jump up. However, the wall reaches the very top of the screen. I can get up there but can't get back down and die for an unknown reason.
The combat is very slow and clunky due to how long it takes to charge up your attack.
If the grappling is focused on, I could see this being really fun. The wall jumping is probably unnecessary since it means you don't need to grapple in situations where there is a wall.
Thank you for your comment! I think we bit off a lot more than we could chew, and in an ideal world I would have made a tutorial level. C'est la vie! It's something we can work on for the next game jam!
The resource you collect is coins, although I certainly could have done a better job at making the coins *look* like coins, haha!
The third room was my fault, and did not set up the camera bounds for the room correctly. The camera should extend up a few more tiles, but we'll get that fixed for next time!
We both definitely think that grappling and momentum were the best bits of the game, and is what we were focussing on most of the week, I'm glad you enjoyed that aspect!
The grappling feels very good indeed. The level design is a bit wonky but great feel for the grappling.
Sound effects, while they're low in number, are good.
It has a good base, a game can be built upon it!
Thank you for the kind words about our grappling, we focussed on this a lot to make it feel right! Level design wise, I agree completely that it could be improved a lot - we designed the levels in the last 2 hours because we had completely neglected them beforehand! D'oh! Thanks again for your feedback!
Overall a nice game, it's pretty hard and I think the shoot takes too long to load. I don't really see the jam theme in here. Keep up the good work :D
Thank you for your feedback! We definitely bit off more than we could chew in certain aspects. Our original aim was for when the Player has Less health, he deals More damage, then More health and Less damage respectively, although I don't know if that carried through or not into the actual gameplay!
Thanks again for your comment!
I like the simple art and the weird enemy physics, you could make the grappling more useful if it wasn't possible to just wall jump infinitely. Also the camera was really weird in some places, I couldn't see half the screen. The fighting and grappling at the same time is still really fun
First of all, congratulations for finishing the game!
I like the idea, but the gameplay is so slow and the cursor doesn't move with mine.
I can't pass the second level.
This game was so fun! Good job for the art! cool idea, I like this type of games
please consider checking our game too (:
