Great art and very immersive. The theme is hilarious and I LOL'd at the gravestones. Don't know if it's intentional, but the player can stand on top of the ghosts. Would love to see the game expanded!
Thank you for noticing the writing on gravestones. Yes, standing on the ghosts is intentional - I was wondering about doing some high platforms that would require player to bounce on the ghosts to reach them. Thank you for kind words!
Right on. Bouncing on the ghosts would be fun!
Spooky!
I got to say that the panic bar is a pretty original idea. Good game with nice pixel art, well done!
My only issue is the blurred background. I don't think it looks good in pixel art. I recommend playing with transparency. Maybe even add a few clouds between layers, it gives a similar vibe and you keep that crisp pixel art.
Transparency is a good advice. I'll try doing that instead of blurring next time.
Cool art, but why Johnny came to graveyard if he is such coward? Also, it would be better to make ghosts passable in my opinion
Probably Johnny is an ultra introvert - even more afraid of living than the dead. ;) But seriously, thats a huge plot hole. I feel what you mean and it could've been thought out better.
What a beautiful game! I was thoroughly impressed with the art. The audio really brought it up to the next level. The controls were solid. I would love to see this expanded to a bigger game with more mechanics. Nice work!
Thank you for kind words!
Very impressed with the environment and the ambient soundtrack. Well done! I felt like most of the jumps required having the sprint key held down so after a while it just felt redundant having it. It would've been nice if the jumps in tight spots weren't so high as to require having sprint held down so both kinds of jumps were used.
Congrats on submitting to your first jam!
Sprint key redundancy is a valid point. Maybe holding the space longer for higher jumps would work better.
The gameplay is not particulary original but the art is really good ! I played through all the game, nice work !
Thanks for playing it through!
I really like the art, I'm actually surprised you did this just in one week! I think it would be better if it would be a little harder, but overall I think it's great!
Thank you! Yeah I guess it should be a lot harder, too much easiness is boring :D
I like the art and the idea of playing as coward whos only option is to run away from danger. I also love level design with coins hidden all over the place. The only things I can really complain about is that the game was quite too easy, by my standards at least. Good job!
Thank you!
Art is really awesome! Game mechanics are solid. Run and jump concept is interesting. We see this mostly on FPS games (you have to have high velocity to jump higher, not like in mario). I couldn't understand what is the purpose of collecting coins. Good and fun game.
Thank you for taking time to check out the mechanics. Well, there's no real purpose to collecting coins - they are more of a secondary objective - some are partially hidden or require more jumping to get to them.
This is some really solid work for your first jam! I loved the creepy vibe with the tombstone sprites, the art overall is good. The panic meter is really original. I also like the choice of music, it made me feel very immersed. Good job!
Thank you! I'm glad to hear you seem overall pleased with the game aesthetics.
Loved the pixel art, aesthetic, and concept. Picking up coins is a little too generic imo, but the "Panic" mechanic is interesting. I think centering most of the game around avoiding lots of "Panic"-inducing things instead of straight platforming would fit better.
Thank you for playing. I agree that focusing more on "panic" mechanic would be definitely better. We had a plan to add at least bats and spiders, but each one required different behaviour pattern = more scripting. We simply ran out of time.
the jumping sound got a bit too repetitive, i found it funny how in the ending cutscene you could spam space to hear him do the sound, i really liked how he trembled when the panic meter filled, overall pretty nice
It's not a bug, It's a feature! I'm really glad you played it all the way through, thank you.
